[Bug 590411] [NEW] Unmounting USB drive with Disk Mounter applet doesn't remove the device from /media
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets System Specs: Ubuntu release: 10.04 gnome-applets version: 2.30.0-0ubuntu2 STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Add the Disk Mounter applet to a panel 2. Mount a USB drive to your computer 3. Click the drive on the applet, then select Unmount EXPECTED RESULTS 4. The drive is unmounted from your system 5. Running ls /media in a terminal confirms that the device is removed from your system ACTUAL RESULTS 4. The drive is unmounted from your system 5. Running ls /media in a terminal indicates that the device is in fact still attached to your system 6. Attempts at removing the drive via sudo through either a terminal or nautilus results in the return of an error stating "Error removing file: Device or resource busy" ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I've recently started noticing that when I mount my iriver E100 DMP it is mounted with an increasing number of underscores in the label. After finding Bug #101845 Automounted Volumes mount points change I opened /media in a sudo nautilus window to try to delete the E100 drive and all of the newer instances I was able to remove all of them with the exception of E100__, this morning's instance. When I try to delete it I get "Error removing file: Device or resource busy", even with the device itself is no longer connected to my computer. When I reconnected my E100 to my system it mounted as /media/E100 so at least manually deleting the mount points allows me to get back to the proper identity. When I unmount the drive via nautilus the mount point is completely removed, so the issue seems to be in the applet itself. I believe the problem initially appeared after updating awn-applets- python-core-trunk to version 0.4.1~bzr1311-1.10.04 from the AWN Testing Team's PPA, although closing AWN does not allow me to manually remove E100__ either. ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unmounting USB drive with Disk Mounter applet doesn't remove the device from /media https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590411 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 483566] [NEW] Login information is no longer remembered
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: epiphany-browser When I first upgraded to karmic I was able to enter login information on webpages and when I return to the site at a later date the login information would be autocompleted for me once the page completes loading. In the last week or so this behavior stopped occurring. I believe the package that was updated may have been a xulrunner package but Epiphany is now built on a WebKit backend so I don't know why the Mozilla (and thus Gecko) xulrunner components getting changed would affect this behavior. [Bug 481339] [NEW] Flash vIdeos in Gmail from the FAIL blog don't show up in message body
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: adobe-flashplugin Back in June the owners of the FAIL blog had problems with using Youtube videos so they switched their videos to Viddler (FAIL blog announcement of switch is at http://failblog.org/2009/06/25/sidewalk-fail-3/). Ever since then I've noticed that their daily emails with new posts don't show up in my Gmail regardless of what browser I use (Epiphany 2.28.0-4ubuntu1, chromium browser 4.0.245.0~svn2009r31665-0ubuntu1~ucd1 or Firefox 3.5.5+nobinonly- 0ubuntu0.9.10.1). The videos show up well enough when I surf the FAIL blog site itself, and when I check the source code of the message I can see that the embed shows up but it isn't showing up in the message itself. The same behavior is present when checking email with Evolution 2.28.1-0ubuntu2 0. I can't check the behavior in Thunderbird or another email client because Evo is the email client I have opted to use. To the best I can determine other users of the site that run Windows or the MacOS don't show this behavior, and I suspect users of other plugins don't experience the issue either. It may be a Gmail issue but from what I can determine it's an issue of the plugin, not the service since the behavior also shows up in my email client (which I believe doesn't use the plugin). I'm enclosing screenshots of the message in Gmail, the video on the site itself, as well as the source code for today's email message from the FAIL blog. The video in question is the very first one, "That's what you get for being a show off". SYSTEM STATS: Ubuntu Version: 9.10 (with updates as of yesterday afternoon) Adobe-flashplugin version: 10.0.32.18-1karmic2 STEPS: 1. Open a web browser with the flash plugin installed 2. Go to the FAIL Blog website (http://failblog.org/) and sign up to receive daily emails of new posts 3. Read your email in Gmail. When a new video has been added to the FAIL blog the next day you will recieve a message showing the new video among the day's new posts. EXPECTED RESULTS: The video shows up in preview mode to give you the option of viewing the video. ACTUAL RESULTS: There is simply a space where the video should be. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Since upgrading to Karmic I'm finding that clicking an arrow beside a folder doesn't always toggle the open/close state (label A below), and clicking a different folder than the one selected doesn't change the selected folder but toggles the open/close state (label B below). SYSTEM DATA: Ubuntu version: 9.10 (with updates as of 10:00 am EDT today) Evolution version: 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 REPRODUCIBLE?: Always STEPS (A): 1. Open Evolution and select a folder 2. Click the arrow to open/close the folder EXPECTED: The folder is either opened or closed, the opposite of the state it was in before you clicked the arrow ACTUAL: c.80%+ of the time the time the folder state doesn't change STEPS (B): 1. Open Evolution and select a folder 2. Select a different folder EXPECTED: The folder clicked on is made the active folder ACTUAL: The folder originally selected is opened/closed, changing the state of the folder before another folder was selected - I realize I probably should have split this into two bugs, but there seems to be a connection between the behaviors so I am including both in this report. [Bug 461187] Re: Unable to select an icon from the theme (trunk)
You read my mind, Mark. Once I was able to select an icon from the theme again I was going to see if I needed to file a bug against what a PITA it [was|is] to find a specific icon amongst the semi-sorted listing. I always hated having to muddle my way through the icons trying to find the one I wanted. CORRECTION: The base package of extensions for Epiphany are in fact ported, but I can't find a way to get the extra extensions pack (epiphany-extensions-more) installed. [Bug 439818] Re: epiphany-gecko can't be installed
Damn, that's disappointing. I specifically left Firefox and switched to Epiphany but Epiphany/Webkit really seems like it's not ready for prime time IMO. There don't seem to be any working extensions, my form information never gets saved to the point where I'm having to reset the damned things on some sites (like twice in as many days just here on Launchpad for some odd reason), and it simply no longer lets me work the way I want to. It's really a shame that the Epiphany devs have decided to turn their backs on Gecko before (at the very least) the extensions were ported over. I know there are some Epiphany/Webkit extensions available but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to use the damned things. -- epiphany-gecko can't be installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439818 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 272808] Re: epiphany-webkit does not open link in new tab
I have to disagree with you, BeowulfOF. As Neils wrote in comment #5 there is no new tab option for the content menu, as is shown in the first image I attached, although middle-clicking the link does open it in anew window as you decribe. As my second image shows the new window is opened in a window so small as to be worthless (at least on my system). If I drag the tab into my main Epiphany window Epiphany crashes, a behavior that I know should be addressed in a bug of it's own. In the event both images don't attatch here are links to the images on my Picasa account: 1. No New tab option: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/gcUMqJrsKziDb35Q6KDz8w?feat=directlink 2. [Bug 214370] Re: Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working
With all due apologies, Maxim, but that seems like an almost insulting fix to this bug. Not only would this be a slap in the face of every user who has noted that this bug affects them, as well as those who have filed duplicate bugs because it is a real annoyance to them but they didn't see this bug first, it also strikes me as being a case of "we don't care how you guys (and girls) feel about this issue, and we're just going to ignore it completely." That is precisely the type of response that has ticked off so many Firefox 3 users and I'd really hope the Ubuntu and upstream devs aren't so heartless. That said, I look forward to the possibility of the possible good news upstream that Andrew reported in comment #34. I'd be willing to test it if someone makes a deb available in a PPA or something. -- Logout/Shutdown Sound Not Working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214370 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 376190] [NEW] Stop YouTube search with a button
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem I've taken to using Totem's YouTube plugin to watch videos rather than having to deal with a lot of stuttering in Flash, but the video I'm looking for is usually (90% of the time) the first result returned. I meant to post this yesterday, but running Ubuntu 8.10 (GNOME) with the 96 drivers I found that I had to disable Compiz to run Scribus 1.3.3.12 .dfsg-1ubuntu2, otherwise I couldn't see any text in documents or menus. Exactly, jackdaw. I'm looking at having to reboot using my onboard Intel video chips just to be able to set some things up in WINE.
