[Bug 1158264] [NEW] Title bar becomes inactive when window is unmaximised

2013-03-21 Thread Jacek N
Public bug reported:

I noticed a problem affecting some programs under 13.04

How to reproduce:
* open a window, for example file manager
* drag the window to the top of the screen so that it is maximised
* drag the window back to the desktop to un-maximise it

Expected:
* windows works as usual, title bar buttons active and window can be moved

Observed:
* window cannot be moved by dragging title bar (but Alt+ mouse drag still works)
* close, minimize and maximize buttons do not work, clicking on them has no
effect
* some of the title bar functionality is still there. If I change focus to
another window and then click on the affected window's title bar focus changes
however buttons still do not work and the window cannot be moved.

This affects most of the applications but not all of them. So far I noticed the
problem in:
firefox, nautilus, thunderbird, rhytmbox and software center

The probme does NOT affect:
gnome-terminal

[Bug 1157304] [NEW] Unable to move dialog window

2013-03-19 Thread Jacek N
Public bug reported:

When I click on an encrypted email for the first time since thunderbird
startup it asks for gpg passphrase. Since upgrade to raring dialog
window ends up in the bottom left corner of my screen and cannot be
moved in any way (even using Alt+left mouse drag).

What you expected to happen:
Dialog window should be moveable

What happened instead:
Dialog window is stuck to its position in the bottom left corner and cannot be
moved

[Bug 1144108] Re: Unable to create instances due to QueuePool limit

2013-03-11 Thread Jacek N
I still think this is a valid bug.
The problem disappeared after nova-network restart and so far it did not come
back. What we would like to find out is why did this start happening. There is
no proof of this but it may be ralated to long nova-network uptime.
Changing the values as you suggested could only delay the problem, there is no
guarantee that the root cause is caused by low thresholds. If it was the
thresholds why would the problem disappear after restart?

Also if you suggest that default values could cause problems should they
not be updated?

[Bug 1102434] Re: "System settings -> Colour", fails due to missing "gnome-color-manager" package.

2013-03-09 Thread Jacek N
The same happens in Quantal. To replicate:
1. Open system settings
2. Click on "Colour"
3. Choose a monitor, click "Add profile" and confirm
4. Highlit new profile and click "View details"

Error message says:
"Installing packages by files isn't supported
This method hasn't been implemented."

It would be better if it told user to install gnome-color-manager

[Bug 1134604] [NEW] New IPs not available after subnet changes

2013-02-27 Thread Jacek N
Public bug reported:

We recently run out IP address in the subnet used for our instances and
we had to extend out subnet from /24 to /23.

We edited /etc/nova/nova.conf, restared nova-network using
/etc/init.d/nova-network restart.
"ifconfig bf100" was showing correct (new) netmask so was "nova-manage network
list"

When new instances were about to use new range they failed to get IPs:

On compute node:
2013-02-27 10:46:38 ERROR nova.compute.manager [req- ] [instance:

And corresponding on our controller:

After some investigation we realised that fixed_ips table in nova DB only had
IPs from the old range. We added new IPs using:
INSERT INTO fixed_ips (created_at, deleted, allocated, leased, reserved,
network_id, address) VALUES (CURDATE(), 0,0,0,0, 1, "xx.xx.xx.xx");
which allowed our instances to get IPs from new range.

On compute node we are running:

[Bug 843809] Re: Installation problem with external HDD controller

2012-10-11 Thread Jacek N
I tested with nodmraid option and it made no difference. My kernel argument
list:
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ cat /proc/cmdline
noprompt cdrom-detect/try-usb=true file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper
initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash --  nodmraid

I tested with "nodmraid" before "--" and behavior was exactly the same.

This is buit in fake raid (so software only solution), I do not think they
offer any BIOS level configuration, I checked and there is nothing I can do to
set it up before my installation.
I also used single hard drive for the installation so it there is not much
point in creating raid array on it.

Regardless of what the reson for this is I think that ubiquity should at
least point user into the right direction. My hardware is pretty
standard - nForce based motherboard with single hard drive. Less
technical users with similar PCs could just assume their hardware is not
supported if they cannot see hard drive.

I can replicate this every time so if anybody wants me to do more
testing I will be happy to help.

[Bug 1048701] Re: NVidia GPU lock-up on 12.10 Beta-1

2012-10-08 Thread Jacek N
This also affects me on desktop with the following GPU:
"NVIDIA Corporation GT200 [GeForce GTX 260] (rev a1)"

12.10 beta 2 would not start until I removed "quiet splash" options.

[Bug 843809] Re: Installation problem with external HDD controller

2012-09-19 Thread Jacek N
I am having the same problem with built in controller. Installer will
not see my hard drive at all unless I remove dmraid package before
launching ubiquity.

I can replicate it on Ubuntu 12.04

[Bug 974667] Re: dnsmasq does not bind to a port

2012-04-22 Thread Jacek N
/var/log/syslog copied when dnsmasq was broken.

I have just tested kubuntu 11.10 iso on the same VM and it is all fine
(however 11.10 does not use dnsmasq).

Just to let you know - I amthe person who reported the bug and problem
with ISO test so this does not actually impact multiple people.

2012-04-09 Thread Jacek N
Hi,

I am not 100% sure what the root cause is but this small modification
fixes it the problem:

There is probably a better way of fixing this within apport-kde but I
cannot figure it out.

[Bug 974667] [NEW] dnsmasq does not bind to a port

2012-04-05 Thread Jacek N
Public bug reported:

When I boot into the installation CD (kubuntu-12.04-beta2-desktop-i386)
DNS service does not work properly. resolv.conf points to 127.0.0.1
which seems correct, /var/run/nm-dns-dnsmasq.conf contains correct
nameserver IP.

I think it is to do with the fact that nothing listens on port 53.
kubuntu@kubuntu:~$ sudo netstat -nlptu|grep 53
udp0 0 0.0.0.0:53530.0.0.0:*
1173/avahi-daemon:
udp6   0  0 :::5353 :::*
1173/avahi-daemon:
kubuntu@kubuntu:~$

dnsmasq is running:
kubuntu@kubuntu:~$ ps -ef|grep /usr/sbin/dnsmasq
nobody1275 1191 0 21:17 ?00:00:00 /usr/sbin/dnsmasq --no-resolv
--keep-in-foreground --no-hosts --bind-interfaces
--pid-file=/var/run/sendsigs.omit.d/network-manager.dnsmasq.pid
--listen-address=127.0.0.1 --conf-file=/var/run/nm-dns-dnsmasq.conf
--cache-size=0 --proxy-dnssec

When I do lsof it show interesting results:
kubuntu@kubuntu:~$ sudo lsof|grep 1275

dnsmasq 1275 nobody3r sock0,7 0t0 11578 can't
identify protocol
dnsmasq 1275 nobody4w FIFO0,8 0t0 11587 pipe
dnsmasq 1275 nobody5u FIFO0,8 0t0 11587 pipe
dnsmasq 1275 nobody6u unix 0xec3126c0 0t0 11589 socket

If I kill the process, recreate /var/run/nm-dns-dnsmasq.conf and start it on
the CLI manually everything is fine (I can resolve hostname and and dnsmasq
binds to the port 53)
kubuntu@kubuntu:~$ sudo netstat -nlput|grep 53

I am using VirtualBox 4.1.12 for testing with almost default config of
my VM. It happens every time so if you need any more details I can
provide them easily.

[Bug 220961] Re: [MASTER] ubiquity crashes instead of notifying the user of not enough disk space

2011-10-23 Thread Jacek N
In my case there is definitely space on the device but installator
crashes anyway:

root@ubuntu:/var/log# cat syslog |grep space
Oct 23 10:56:40 ubuntu kernel: [ 27.082465] ppdev: user-space parallel port
driver
Oct 23 12:00:39 ubuntu ubiquity: Compiling
/usr/share/python/debpython/namespace.py ...
Oct 23 12:02:28 ubuntu ubiquity: unable to install new version of
`/usr/src/linux-headers-3.0.0-12-generic/include/config/pata/cs5536.h': No
space left on device

But there is 15 GB available:
root@ubuntu:/var/log# df -h /target/usr/src/
FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 19G 2.3G 15G 14% /target

What is interesting is this:
root@ubuntu:/var/log# ls -l /usr/src/linux-headers-3.0.0-12-generic/
ls: cannot access /usr/src/linux-headers-3.0.0-12-generic/: No such file or
directory
