[Bug 66126] Removing power when lid is closed doesn't trigger battery 'lid is closed' event

distro: edgy (since I upgraded from dapper)
laptop: thinkpad t43p

In Gnome's power management, I have set the lid closed event to lock the
screen when running on AC and to suspend the machine when running on
batteries.

 If I close the lid in either state the correct thing happens.  However,
if I close the lid then remove the power cable the laptop does not
suspend.  It did suspend with dapper.

This affected my upgrade to edgy as well.  However, the packages involved were:
 python-epydoc
 python-gst0.10
 python-xdg

The exact error for me is:

but

prints out

arguments.

I've been running dapper for a while and I decided to upgrade to edgy.
I did this by adding edgy to my sources.list, did aptitude update;
aptitude upgrade.

The upgrade failed with:
