[Bug 1066771] [NEW] language-selector-kde unusable

2012-10-15 Thread James Maddison
Public bug reported:

Affects Kubuntu Quantal. Steps to reproduce:

1. Install the language-selector-kde package
2. Launch System Settings
3. Select Locale
4. Select System Languages

No configuration options are presented, and instead the following error
message is displayed:

The service 'System Languages' does not provide an interface 'KCModule'
with keyword 'language-selector/language-selector.py'The factory does
not support creating components of the specified type.

Possible reasons:

  - An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control
module
  - You have old third party modules lying around.

Check these points carefully and try to remove the module mentioned in
the error message. If this fails, consider contacting your distributor
or packager.

 Status: New

I downgraded to nvidia-current_290.10-0ubuntu2 and still had the session
restart issue, (Screen goes black for a second and I'm made to relog
in). My logs also show this as a segfault that some users have reported.

[Bug 1005571] [NEW] python-netcdf segmentation fault when setting attributes

2012-05-28 Thread James Maddison
Public bug reported:

Tested on Ubuntu Precise 64 bit. The following code produces a
segmentation fault:

#!/usr/bin/env python
import numpy
import Scientific.IO.NetCDF as netcdf
handle = netcdf.NetCDFFile(test.nc, w)
handle.test = numpy.array(1.0)
handle.close()

The following avoids a segmentation fault, but produces an unexpected
Python error:

#!/usr/bin/env python
import numpy
import Scientific.IO.NetCDF as netcdf
handle = netcdf.NetCDFFile(test.nc, w)
handle.test = 1.0
handle.close()

$ ./test_netcdf
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File ./test_netcdf, line 5, in module
handle.test = 1.0
ValueError: Must be a datetime.timedelta object

[Bug 965961] [NEW] Invisible selected text

2012-03-27 Thread James Maddison
Public bug reported:

Selected text is displayed as white on a white background.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Tested with up-to-date Kubuntu 12.04 amd64
2. Install gedit
3. Type and then select some text

Switching to an alternative GTK+ style (e.g. Rayleigh) resolves the
issue. Uninstalling the gtk3-engines-oxygen package resolves this issue
but leads to other problems, for example a default theme of black on a
black background in gnome-terminal.
