[Bug 1756517] Re: grub-install: error: diskfilter writes are not supported

2021-02-26 Thread James Usmar
I am getting the "error: diskfilter writes are not supported \n press
any key" on an Ubuntu 20LTS install.

No Raid in my case, just an SSD.

RE: [Bug 575917] Re: Cannot setup remote printers to Windows XP from Ubuntu 10.04

2010-05-17 Thread James Usmar
Hi, It is fixed by the latest system_config_printers; you can now
navigate to a server/network and expand windows XP clients.

Thanks.
James Usmar.

Status in “samba” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: system-config-printer

In pre-10.04 LTS versions of Ubuntu you could navigate to an Windows XP machine
with a shared Printer and start using it.
In Ubuntu 10.04 if you navigate to a Windows XP machine you just get the print$
share with a load of files under it. It used to show you an icon of the
available printers.

Also using the System|Admin|Printing CUPS thing you cannot "scan" the
network and find a printer.

Something isn't working properly? I don't know - sorry.

Is it Samba or CUPS?

[Bug 332576] Re: prepare-compat-wireless.sh - incorrect shell variable

2009-02-23 Thread James Usmar
Hello,

Would this bug explain why since 22/2/09 I am now seeing my wireless USB
based connection timing out and resetting every 2-4 minutes?

My install of Intrepid was doing just fine until yesterday when I assume
some update started to causes this fault.

Best wishes,
James Usmar

[Bug 324745] [NEW] Plugin's not working for Firefox 3.0.5 in Intrepid

2009-02-03 Thread James Usmar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Hello,

I've set up a default install of Ubuntu (Intrepid) for my son, and we
started firefox (3.0.5) to load the Cbeebies children's website. On
loading the page below we keep getting multiple plug-ins required - fine
- but then it only installs one at a time. Once you go round and round
installing all of them, in sequence, it still doesn't work.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/teletubbies/funandgames/animalsounds/index.shtml?frog

Any advance on how to fix it?

PS please can the Adobe reader/flash etc be supported for Ubuntu via a
default "support source" - I cannot get them to install from Adobe.

Best wishes and thanks,
James Usmar
