[Bug 1793809] Re: Update to golang-1.11

2019-07-26 Thread Jan Bauer
Installing go using `snap install go --classic` installs go version
1.12.7

Probably it is better do use snap here and drop the go provided by apt
completely.

[Bug 1793809] Re: Update to golang-1.11

2019-07-19 Thread Jan Bauer
Why use a package manager if the packages are not updated in a regular manner?
Fast developing stuff like golang should receive quick updates.

2018-06-07 Thread Jan Bauer
The package installer should check for any missing files in /etc/mysql
and recreate them if they are completely missing.

Is there a special reason why git does not get updated to 2.17.1 for

Workaround: add stable repo from git-scm to get a fixed version

$ add-apt-repository ppa:git-core/ppa
$ apt update
$ apt install git

(from https://git-scm.com/download/linux )

[Bug 1774061] Re: git: CVE-2018-11235 arbitary code execution via submodule names in .gitmodules

2018-05-31 Thread Jan Bauer
The Ubuntu repo still provides the outdated git version 2.7.4.

This could be checked by running:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-cache policy git

This should be fixed with high priority.
