[Bug 496093] Re: [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks

2010-05-03 Thread Jan Obrátil
The same problem on my HW.

06:04.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG
[Calexico2] Network Connection (rev 05)

I can't connect to any WPA2 secured site. 8.04LTS was ok. :-(

[Bug 422536] Re: EDAC amd64: WARNING: ECC is NOT currently enabled by the BIOS. Module will NOT be loaded.

2009-11-02 Thread Jan Obrátil
Hello, this is not a bug I think. I have the same problem. My
motherboard can use both ECC and non-ECC RAMs. I use non-ECC ram and
motherboard reports, that it use non-ECC and it can use ECC RAM. Not
that it use ECC RAM as non-ECC RAM.

The bug should be corrected by lowering severity from warning to nocice
or something like that in that case.

2009-10-29 Thread Jan Obrátil
@David, this issue happens even when I use proprietary nvidia driver. I
have tested both available versions (173 and 185).

I think that this problem is about USB subsystem that don't wakeup
properly and hangs system or combination of it. Proprietary nvidia
driver don't cause black screen. USB subsystem is always down.

2009-10-29 Thread Jan Obrátil
@David, is it really different bug? My apport fetched exactly the same
bug as is in subject.

My system has the same symptoms as other people here. In short: System
is unresponsive after resume. I tried to connect to system via SSH and
it works. Who of that people tried to login via ssh after resume?

I think this is the same problem. Tell me if I'm wrong and I'll report
another bug but it will be marked as duplicate...

[Bug 462693] [NEW] Resume from disk failed when encrypted swap is used.

2009-10-28 Thread Jan Obrátil
Public bug reported:

Resume from disk fails because I have installed 9.10 with encrypted home
option and then it sets encrypted swap too. I suppose that I should
insert a password before resume process begins. If the feature of
unlocking using password before resume is not yet implemented,
hibernation must be denied to prevent data loss.

[Bug 57606] Re: ipw2200: No way to change geography from firmware value

2008-10-09 Thread Jan Obrátil
Thank you for the hint. I know about the flashing the eeprom. I know
that I can *definitely kill my wifi*. That's the reason why I didn't
flash it yet. How Windows can access 13 channels without flashing wifi?

I'm looking forward for some modprobe parameter to override default
regioncode of eeprom.

[Bug 57606] Re: ipw2200: No way to change geography from firmware value

2008-10-08 Thread Jan Obrátil
Sorry about my not responding. I have only one device with this WiFi
card in production use so I can't install beta yet but I'm trying it
using LiveCD (8.10 Beta). Unfortunately dmesg still says:

[ 115.398026] ipw2200: Detected geography ZZM (11 802.11bg channels, 0
802.11a channels)

So I can use only 11 channels. How can I configure that I can use 13
channels in my location?

Thanks

[Bug 236926] [NEW] Prevent Ubuntu against simple DoS attack

2008-06-02 Thread Jan Obrátil
Public bug reported:

It's very easy freeze whole system using a fork bomb like:

:(){ :|: };:

Solution is adding the line
*   hardnproc   512
to /etc/security/limits.conf
This should limit all users to 512 process that is more than enough for normal
work.
MacOS X has similiar limitation.

I confirm that. The same problem in Hardy 64bit. Package lib32nss-mdns
didn't solve it.

Try java fx here:

[Bug 198819] [NEW] [Hardy - Alpha5] With Visual Efects switched on the desktop has 1px border

2008-03-05 Thread Jan Obrátil
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

With Visual Efects switched on, the desktop has 1px border. You can't
click to Application menu when your mouse points to left upper corner of
desktop. It's quite confusing. Gutsy doesn't have such feature.
