Public bug reported: Gnome is a big step backward for Ubuntu, there are several usability flaws in the main user concept of Gnome in comparison with Unity. - There is no real pixel-saving in Gnome (i.e. oversized window-titlebars, missing globalmenu support, no integration of the window-titelbar in the menu-panel, etc...) - The app menus are not consistent, there are some menu-entries in the "main-menu"(in gnome panel) and some entries are in the "Hamburger" menu in the app window and for some apps, like evince, there is a second "Hamburger" menu (one with points, one with lines) for file-specific options. This can't be a feature, it is definitely a bug! - The file manager Nautilus is a mess and nearly unusable since most of the options(!) are stripped from the settings! This can't be a feature but is definitely a bug! (remember: Linux is always the freedom of choice - even in the settings of an app. And why stripping existing and working options?) i don't know the real reason why Marc abandoned Unity as the standard DE in Ubuntu but in my opinion it is the biggest mistake he ever made except abandoning the Ubuntu phone. i know that this report will marked as "opinion" and no one ever hear the voices of the people that still see the real potential in Unity and the design flaws of Gnome! And i know that i am not alone! Perhaps there could be a way to reUnite the Gnome project with the strengths of the Unity project for the sake of a big and bright future for both as a synthesis!? In my opinion Synthesis is the way of the new age, of the future, and everyone who works against each other will fall behind... please remember the strengths of Unity and see that the great success of Ubuntu definetly has to do with Unity as the standard DE! What Unity wants is UNIFY and what Gnome does is DISUNITE! Hi G, in TB there is no option to chosse closing to message-indicator. So if you close TB it closes and is not running in the background. I.e. in Evolution you can choose to close the program to the message-indicator. I don't know what users have tested the functionality of Ubuntu but most users in the Windows-World and growing number of users in the Apple Universe use right-click menus for exactly the reason of intuitive and fast workflow! that has nothing to do with Power-User or such! that is no statistic, that is my own experience on working with many different user-types in my daily business! and on the other hand is there really NO reason to completely remove features (even if only ONE person is using it!) with the argument that it confuses new users!! What does that mean?? I think in that case it would be much smarter to disable the feature by default and let the so- called Power-User enable it! nearly similar with my Apple Magic Mouse on Ubuntu 12.10 with all latest
updates.
mouse ist recognized and works some time (1-2 minutes) then it stops working
and the bluetooth-stick blinks like it searches for devices.
sometimes it even crashes the whole system having to hard-reset.
upgrading the Kernel to 3.7.x doesn't change the problem.
