Re: [Bug 1306862] Re: Webcam not working on Cheese

2015-01-11 Thread Jason Odoom
Thanks for the suggestion Magus. It still doesn't work for me. My webcam
may be broken then.

Hi, I don't know if this can help since I'm on a different distribution,
but I had a similar problem which was caused by a too high default
webcam resolution under cheese. Lowering the webcam resolution settings
in cheese and restarting the application solved the problem.

Re: [Bug 1309300] Re: Upgrade to Trusty ruined wireless connectivity

2014-06-13 Thread Jason Odoom
I'm still experiencing this issue and it's very annoying. I was able to
compile a wireless driver but after about three weeks the problem returned.

Yesterday I uninstalled the Broadcom (bcmwl-kernel-source package) driver
and since then using open source (brcmsmac) the wireless network no
longer drop. So it seems that this confirms, at least in the case of
Broadcom, that the failure is in the proprietary driver.
However, after boot and when returning from hibernation iw reg get still
shows country UZ... But that is not making any difference because the
wireless network showed no further failures.

2014-04-01 Thread Jason Odoom
Nevermind, only if you issue the lock-screen but if it is automatic...
same problem.

[Bug 1298572] [NEW] Network Manager menu not appearing

2014-03-27 Thread Jason Odoom
Public bug reported:

When connected via Wired and wireless off, once the Ethernet cable is
unplugged from the device and reinserted no authentication dialogue pops
up as is the case for my current network. This is only possible when I
have restarted Ubuntu with the cable in that I receive the necessary
dialogue to authenticate into my network. Also, when this happens I
cannot acess the network connections menu in the panel, it will not
display. I can only acess the menu if I do not reconnect the Ethernet
cable after disconnecting, once I reconnect it won't open.

Re: [Bug 738244] Re: Gnome Panel wipe off

2011-03-21 Thread Jason Odoom
The issue is indeed the empty spot. This is triggered sometimes when my
cursor is placed on the panel or most of the time by it's self.
It didn't use to happen but it's happening every time. Sometimes when I log
in it even changes the theme.

With all due respect,

Their is no dark theme in Ubuntu, the closest is the Ambiance theme. Their
is a black background-wallpaper though.

An update of the Chocolate theme that fixes link colour (such as in the

The warning is still kind of odd coloured but I have no idea how to set
colour on that. It is broken in the hi-con themes as well.

 Title:
Ubuntu need a dark theme and background

Status in “ubuntu-artwork” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

 Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-themes

There is no Ubuntu theme with dark background in the theme package that is
 installed by default.

There are the special high contrast themes that do not look well on
hardware that provides sufficient contrast, and there is the Darklooks
modification of Clearlooks that is in the extra themes. Darklooks is usable
and does have dark background but it looks somewhat bland since it has no
 colors.

Themes with dark background are useful because some screen defects manifest
more noticeably when dark text is rendered on light background making the
text harder to read. Also I find too light backgrounds tiring for my eyes

[Bug 693673] [NEW] Gnome Panel doesn't show minimized windows

2010-12-22 Thread Jason Odoom
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I installed Docky, used it but wanted to return back to the original
Ubuntu (Gnome) panel. The panel was removed while I was using Docky (the
bottom Panel). But when I added a new bottom Panel and minimized my
applications, they do not show up at the bottom! I do not know what's
wrong.

I expected everything too go back to normal and my minimized programs/
programs that are opened, to show up on the bottom panel. I am using
