servicemenu-rootactions (available in the ppa as I said).

[Bug 338205] Re: [jaunty] plasma crashes on start with SIGSEGV

2009-04-07 Thread Jean-Christophe Bodez
I have Kubuntu jaunty installed since alpha5 and I've never hit this bug...
until today!
kde splashscreen appears, and then when the plasma-desktop is supposed to
appear: black screen
I can use Krunner to launch programs, but sill.. no panel, no widget, no
wallpaper, just a black screen.
I've done my last jaunty upgrade before the crash yesterday, so after
kdebase-workspace (4:4.2.2-0ubuntu1) was uploaded

with that fix :

   * Add kubuntu_72_remove_startkde_cruft.diff to remove test for a setting in
kcmrandrrc that doesn't exist anymore. (KDE expects krandrtray to handle
 resolution setting on startup now...)

could it be the cause ?

I've tried to remove plasma-appletsrc and plasmarc and then restart the
computer :
after the restart, the plasma-desktop appears for a few seconds, and then the
black screen comes back.

I have a nvidia 5700 ultra graphic card btw.

[Bug 342671] Re: Kpackagekit can't handle package dependency

2009-03-17 Thread Jean-Christophe Bodez
I've just seen that bug on my system (kubuntu jaunty alpha fully updated)
without any extra repository in my source.list
maybe the problem only occurs when you have some non default package already
installed.

When I tried to install the package, it told me Remove the package
libgd2-noxpm before
But then, when I click on OK, Kpackagekit becomes unusable, because the
getting dependencies dialog stays opened, and both the ok and cancel buttons
are disabled. So I can't even try to do what it tells me to do.
The only solution left is to kill the Kpackagekit process.

[Bug 340220] Re: kde4 default settings for jaunty

2009-03-14 Thread Jean-Christophe Bodez
I think we should have Use my KDE fonts for GTK application by default.
KDE fonts AND KDE style.
gtk-qt-engine is installed by default, but it's not working because
libbonoboui2.0 is not installed by default

see : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk-qt-
engine/+bug/326648

many user will install install firefox and will find that it looks
awful. They won't find a way to make it look better in systemsettings
because use kde style in gtk application is already enabled, but not
working !

[Bug 326648] Re: [Kubuntu 9.04] gtk-qt-engine not working

2009-03-09 Thread Jean-Christophe Bodez
please find a way to fix this, a lot of Kubuntu Jaunty users are gonna install
firefox, and they will find it looks horrible.
The most advanced users will then go to systemsettings to try to change
firefox's appearance. They will find that the use my kde style in gtk
applications is already activated, and will be clueless about what to do next
to fix this problem.

why not make firefox depends on libbonoboui?

[Bug 312591] Re: kdenetwork-filesharing will not start

2009-03-03 Thread Jean-Christophe Bodez
using Kubuntu Jaunty alpha5 updated, kdenetwork-filesharing
4:4.2.0-0ubuntu3

I've installed Kdenetwork-filesharing (btw, why isn't it installed by default
??? it's totally undiscoverable! )
when I launch systemsettings I can see the Samba icon (shouldn't it be called
Windows shares or windows shared folders? instead ?).
when I click on the icon, it asks me to type my password. I type it, and the
configuration window opens itself successfully.

So I CANT confirm this bug.

[Bug 331790] [NEW] a few important systemsettings's configuration tools are non discoverable

2009-02-19 Thread Jean-Christophe Bodez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

The advanced tab of systemsettings includes a system section, which
includes important config tools like printer configuration, network
management or power management
These tools would be more discoverable in the computer administration section
or in the network and connectivity one of the general tab .
Currently these tools are not discoverable at all.
For example the user won't find a way to configure his network(s) under
theNetwork and Connectivity section, although it seems to be the place where
it should be.
He has to guess that this is available under the Advanced tab of
systemsettings
