2014-04-20 Thread Jean-Pierre Riviere
Public bug reported:

there is a reported problem with a file (a configuration file it seems)
which already exists. the installer report the problem then stops. This
happens after the installation has really begun, and after the
localisation packets have been imported.

tested twice, it happended all the time on a 64 bits new install (manual
parttitionning)

[Bug 775993] Re: package apache2.2-common 2.2.17-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-05-05 Thread Jean-Pierre Riviere
Today, the server has given me thatfile it refused until today. I admit
I rebooted. But I did also reboot previously.

Without a rebot, the bug remained for my second PC. After a reboot, a
dpkg --configure -a (still no output)' an apt-get updaete, this PC still
cannot load the missing .deb.

I am no more blocked because what I wanted was apache for the first PC
but the mystery remains intact.

2011-05-04 Thread Jean-Pierre Riviere
I have a very similar problem. I can't install apache2 because the same
apache2-commons cannot be fetched. and dpkg --configure -a has not any
output:

$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
[sudo] password for pipole:

now let's try the install of apache2:

$ sudo apt-get install apache2

apt-get update does no good and neither option --fix-missing.

This bug occurs on two different pc on which I did a complete new
install of 11.04 i386. And also on another one which upgraded from 10.10
(i386 too).

I have saved /var/log/installer/syslog , /var/log/syslog
and /var/log/partman in case it would serve.
(it seems I could not join them with the bug report)

[Bug 52368] crash while unable to setup partition for installation

2006-07-08 Thread Jean-Pierre Riviere
Public bug reported:

I have my IDE hard drive already set up for linux, with a swap
partition, two /boot partition (one for fedora, one which was intented
for ubuntu) and one for LVM, which has /home, two / and one /tmp. All
partitions are primary partition.

As I was trying to install ubuntu, I choosed the manual partitionning.
The system began scanning, with a ghosted image of a partition tool. But
the ghost disappeared, leaving me without any possibility to say where
to put what. I can't install ubuntu!

However the "continue" button was available. So I press it, and this
broke the installe (this is where it is different from bug 40542, and
also that until then the installer was not crashed yet).
