[Bug 662120] [NEW] eog shows old information after deletion of last file

2010-10-17 Thread Jeldert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

After deleting a file in eog, it automatically opens another image file
in the same directory. After deleting the last image file in a
directory, it obviously cannot show anything. However, the status bar
and title bar still show the information of the last, now deleted,
image. This information should not be shown anymore.

[Bug 35824] Re: Keyboard Layout options: The "X86AudioRaiseVolume" button stopped working in Logitech keyboard models

2009-06-23 Thread Jeldert
Using Ubuntu 9.04:

When selecting the Logitech Ultra-X keyboard the XF86AudioMedia is
recognized as such by the Keyboard Shortcuts program, and works.

When selecting the general keyboard (Generic 105-key (Intl) PC), the key
is also recognized as XF86AudioMedia, instead of "0xed", and also works.

[Bug 372822] [NEW] tvtime-command man page outdated

2009-05-06 Thread Jeldert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tvtime

Ubuntu 9.04
tvtime 1.0.2-1

The man page of tvtime-command (used to send commands to a running
tvtime) is outdated / incorrect.

It says it accepts MENU_LEFT and MENU_RIGHT, but those are not
recognized as valid commands:

$ tvtime-command MENU_LEFT
Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml
Reading configuration from /home/jeldert/.tvtime/tvtime.xml
tvtime-command: Invalid command 'MENU_LEFT'

$ tvtime-command MENU_RIGHT
Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml
Reading configuration from /home/jeldert/.tvtime/tvtime.xml
tvtime-command: Invalid command 'MENU_RIGHT'

It seems MENU_LEFT is replaced with MENU_BACK, and MENU_RIGHT with
MENU_ENTER, which are both not stated in the documentation.

Also, the SET_AUDIO_BOOST is missing is the man page.

The man pages of both tvtime and tvtime-command say: tvtime 1.0RC1.

PS. I checked the source code of tvtime where it states the valid commands (in
utils.c), and the other commands are all covered correctly in the man page.

[Bug 201291] Re: Add ogv (video) and oga (audio) as recognized extension for Ogg Theora and Ogg Vorbis, respectively

2008-11-10 Thread Jeldert
Audacity 1.3.5 gives a warning when opening an .oga file. It says:

"Audacity had to make a guess at the type of file. The Audio may be bogus.
If the audio is bogus, try renaming the file so that it has the correct
extension before opening it."

Also, when saving Audacity complains that Ogg Vorbis files normally end
in .ogg.

Please note that the first warning (bogus audio) does not occur with
Audacity 1.3.6, but the second warning is still present.

[Bug 247012] [NEW] Error while copying, not enough space

2008-07-09 Thread Jeldert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Tried copying some large files to a USB-stick. Nautilus said there was 1.8 GB.
Selected 1.8 GB of files, and tried to copy them to the USB-stick. Nautilus
gave the following error:
Error while copying to "Music".
There is not enough space on the destination. Try to remove files to make space.

Nothing wrong with that, you might say. However, the "Show more details" option
shows a strange message:
There is 1.8 GB available, but 1.8 GB is required.

Some people might think that 1.8 GB is 1.8 GB. In addition, it could
show you how much space is required (like 10 MB).

Note, this may not be a "bug", it is more of a strange error which could be
improved.

[Bug 246535] [NEW] Unknown option --usage (but is in man page)

Output a longer help message then quit.

However, when applying this option it reports it is unknown:
$ totem --usage
Unknown option --usage

Or will this version also be backported to Gutsy, Feisty and Dapper,

[Bug 230388] [NEW] Dictionary "Look up"-field cannot be copied

2008-05-14 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

Ubuntu 8.04
Dictionary 2.20.0.1-1ubuntu5

The content of the "Look up"-field cannot be copied by pressing Ctrl+C,
or selecting Copy from the Edit menu. The content can only be copied by
right-clicking the selected content, and pressing copy in the pop-up
menu.

I expect that the selected text is copied, when pressing Ctrl+C, or
selecting the Copy option from the Edit menu.

To reproduce: start Dictionary, put some text in the "Look up"-field.
Select it, and press Ctrl+C, or select Copy from the Edit menu. Try to
paste it somewhere. You will notice the content is not copied, and the
previous content of the clipboard is still present.

Note that the content of the definition field can be copied by Ctrl+C.

[Bug 227492] [NEW] Ogg Theora video should have extension .ogv

2008-05-06 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: example-content

Ubuntu 8.04
Example-content 31

The recommended filename extension is .ogv (was .ogg). See
http://theora.org/doc/Theora.pdf and
http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/MIME_Types_and_File_Extensions.

Therefore, the file /usr/share/example-content/Experience ubuntu.ogg
should be renamed, to use the .ogv extension.

As far as I can see, the MIME-type did not change, so a simple rename of
the file should be sufficient.

PS, if one knows other Ogg Theora files shipped with Ubuntu: these should be
renamed as well.

[Bug 226517] [NEW] cd/dvd label shown as cdrom0

2008-05-04 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Ubuntu 8.04
Nautilus 2.22.2

The label of a cd or dvd is used in most places to refer to the disc.
However, the title of a Nautilus window showing the cd or dvd is called
"cdrom0 - File Browser". "cdrom0 - File Browser" is also displayed in
the Window List panel. I would expect that the label of the cd or dvd
would be used.

Note that "cdrom0" is shown, no matter if a cd or dvd is inserted.

[Bug 221087] Re: Hardy RC CUPS crashes during printer installation with lynx

[Bug 224274] [NEW] First run creates config_-1

2008-04-29 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tilda

Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit
tilda 0.9.5pre (0.09.4+cvs20071012-1)

When starting Tilda for the first time, it creates a new config file. This
first file is called config_-1. The content of config_-1 does seem to be valid.

The next time Tilda is started it creates another config file. This one
is called config_0.

After this, config_0 is used at every start.

It seems an internal counter is set wrong when first creating a config file. It
also seems that Tilda only looks for config_i files, where i >=0.
Combined, this results in having to configure Tilda twice.

To reproduce, remove, or rename the ~/.tilda directory. Now start Tilda for the
first time, config it, and quit. Start Tilda again.

[Bug 216306] [NEW] tab in name field of save dialog doesn't work

2008-04-12 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Open gedit, click on save. The focus is in the name field. Pressing tab
doesn't move focus to the next field (folder). Instead, it puts the
cursor at the end of the predefined name.

Tab should move the focus to the next item. Shift tab does move the
focus, and tab now works as expected. Until it is in the name field
again.

This is not a gedit bug, since it also happens in the GIMP. (assigning
to gtk+2.0 for now).

[Bug 150854] Re: ghelp:gnome-feedback doesn't work in Feisty

2008-03-19 Thread Jeldert Pol
This bug was reported at gnome almost 2 years ago. Still it is present
in Ubuntu. At least 2 version are affected: 7.10 and 8.04. I suspect
7.04, 6.10 and 6.04 have this problem as well (based on the date the bug
is reported at gnome).

The gnome bug talks about fixing it for gnome 2.14, 2.15, 2.16, 2.18 and
2.20. Ubuntu 8.04 uses 2.22 and the bug is still present.

The duplicate bug here states that not only "ghelp:gnome-feedback" is
not working, but "ghelp:fdl" and "ghelp:gpl" fail as well.

Isn't it about time this bug is fixed?

[Bug 202527] [NEW] ghelp links don't work

2008-03-15 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

The same thing happens to me. I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 and GNOME Sudoku

I've attached a screenshot. It happened a few times before in this game.

I'll try to find a way to reproduce this behaviour.

[Bug 156593] Re: toolbar still displayed in slideshow

2007-10-29 Thread Jeldert Pol
I think I found the cause of this problem, it's Compiz.

Steps to reproduce:
1. In menu System, select Preferences, Appearance. Select tab Visual Effects.
2. Select None. Now, open a graphics file in eog, and start a slideshow. The
toolbar is shown, but disappears after about 4 seconds.
3. Select Normal, or Extra. Now, open a graphics file in eog, and start a
slideshow. The toolbar is shown. After about 4 seconds, the screen flashes
(partially) to black, with the image and toolbar still partially visable. After
some time the flashing stops, but the toolbar is still visible. During the
flashes the slideshow continues to rotate pictures.

I'm using a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, with "ati" driver.

I'm hoping someone can confirm this failure in eog.

On one machine the toolbar is visible all the time (in slideshow). I've

The weird thing is that on the first machine the screen flashes to black

program. I'll investigate a litte more.

[Bug 156593] toolbar still displayed in slideshow

2007-10-24 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

I suggest hidding the toolbar in a slideshow. It can still be displayed
in full screen. Even better, make it optional. Create an option in

[Bug 156398] glChess window moves (jumps to the right)

2007-10-23 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: glchess

After starting glChess for the first time (on a fresh install of Gutsy)
I noticed the window being moved to the right after a few moves. After a
restart of glChess I cannot systematically reproduce this behavior. It
does move from time to time.

you loose for instance), which makes the whole window resize. Even
though this is annoying, it's not that moving I'm talking about.

[Bug 155845] Flash will be installed according to description, but is not

2007-10-22 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-restricted-extras

The description reads:
Installing this package will pull in support for MP3 playback and decoding,
support for various other audio formats (gstreamer plugins), Microsoft fonts,
Java runtime environment, Flash plugin, LAME (to create compressed audio
files),
 and DVD playback.

The bug is that Flash is not installed, because it's not a dependancy. I'm not
sure what the best solution is:
1 - remove Flash from the description
2 - add Flash to dependencies
The problem with the second solution is wheter to use gnash or
flashplugin-nonfree

[Bug 147780] aptitude safe-upgrade (and full-upgrade) parameter not listed

2007-10-01 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: aptitude

Background:
Aptitude now uses the "safe-upgrade" instead of "upgrade". This change is
noticed in Gutsy (7.10) when using the command "sudo aptitude upgrade". The
following message is shown:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo aptitude upgrade
[sudo] password for jeldert:
W: The "upgrade" command is deprecated; use "safe-upgrade" instead.

Now, the problem is that safe-upgrade is not listed in the list of parameters
of aptitude (eg, typing aptitude in a shell, and pressing tab twice). Also
full-upgrade is missing.
Please note that the manual page is up-to-date, and lists both parameters.

Since:
This problem was introduced in Gutsy (currently has aptitude0.4.6.1-1ubuntu3) .
In Feisty (aptitude 0.4.4-1ubuntu3) it's fine, since upgrade is not deprecated
in that version. Perhaps it was introduces with the change to apt 0.7.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amule

aMule is displaying a black bar when minimized to tray. Please see the
attachment. I think it's only an icon issue.

[Bug 50702] openssh-server: Manual page sshd_config is missing KeepAlive description

2006-06-22 Thread Jeldert Pol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openssh-server

The package openssh-server has a manual page for it's config file: sshd_config
man sshd_config doesn't have a description for the KeepAlive option.

It's not a major issue, but since the KeepAlive option is in the
sshd_config file by default it should be nice to have a description for
it.
