[Bug 411567] Re: Sound Preferences provide insufficient detail for macbook on Karmic
Pulseaudio did not see that channel as far as I know. My Sound Preferences dialog no longer shows my hardware anymore now too... [Bug 411567] [NEW] Sound Preferences provide insufficient detail for macbook on Karmic
Public bug reported: I upgraded to Karmic Alpha recently and played around with its (new?) Sound Preferences dialog. I noticed the audio was no longer as loud as it used to be and searched for controls for the different channels. (My macbook has some kind of 'center' speaker.) I could not find it anywhere in the GUI. After several hours I found a workaround: running 'alsamixer -c 0' in a terminal gave me an alsamixer with sufficient controls to unmute my middle speaker and get back the sound I had in Jaunty. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Sound Preferences provide insufficient detail for macbook on Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411567 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 199079] Re: dual screen + close laptop lid = crash/reboot (macbook)

[Bug 292815] [NEW] Upgrade from hardy to intrepid installs only a few packages
Public bug reported: Friday 31/10 I did an upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid using the Belgian mirrors (be.archive...). The archives were pretty much down at that time, and I think that affected what happened when upgrading to Intrepid: Only a few packages were installed (I think three), and after that the cleaning seemed to go nowhere. (Similar effects to the fist post of this topic: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=963587 ) I descided to kill update-manager (using a terminal). After that, my system was running (mostly) hardy packages, but thought it was running intrepid. I didn't quite know how to recover my system, but in the end this post helped me through, after switching to the german mirrors: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6067230postcount=40 To summarise: - Only a very small part of the upgrade was executed, I think this shouldn't happen - The result was very confusing to me (I suspect it would be to a lot of users) - I still managed to recover the system using aptitude ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: distupgrade intrepid update-manager ** Description changed: - Friday 31/10 I did an upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid using the belgium + Friday 31/10 I did an upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid using the Belgian mirrors (be.archive...). [Bug 199079] [NEW] dual screen + close laptop lid = crash/reboot (macbook)
Public bug reported: When I attach my external screen, I activate it using: xrandr --output TMDS-1 --mode 1400x1050 --pos 0x0 xrandr --output LVDS --pos 0x1050 This puts my external screen above my laptop (Macbook) screen, with a resolution of 1400x1050. It works great (mostly), but when I close the laptop lid and leave my laptop alone for a while, I come back to a rebooted laptop... This does not happen when I do not close the lid, and just let the screens go in power-save mode (this is my workaround at the moment :). So: Expected behaviour: both screens go blank, and when I open the lid (after, say, half an hour) both screens power on. Observed behaviour: the laptop has rebooted (yes, I'm sure it reboots, it doesn't just log out). Release: Ubuntu Gutsy Hardware: Macbook (non-pro), Intel GMA 945 graphics. [Bug 151016] Re: New in 2.6.22-13: system takes a LONG time to resume from suspend
I don't know if this will help nailing the bug, but I have found a way of reviving my MacBook when suspend (with the 2.6.22-14 kernel) fails. It does not work every time though. When resume fails (no backlight on the screen), start tapping the power-button. Sometimes tapping the spacebar and the return key helps too. Most of the time the backlight will light up and you will be presented a login screen. However, when entering your password, you will notice keypresses are registered twice about 80% of the time (once for pressing the key down and once for up). Struggle with this until you're able to enter your password correctly and your laptop should be resumed now. (The double keypress issue disappears after login.) Note: in some cases, your system will not be usable: it will freeze after each keypress. (I'm not into kernel development, but I think the kernel only schedules tasks or wakes up when an interrupt happens.) This is scary (for me) but it will enable you to reboot your system: just reboot and keep tapping keys (spacebar, once every second should do) until everything is cleanly (?) shut down. -- New in 2.6.22-13: system takes a LONG time to resume from suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151016 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
