[Bug 287689] Re: gthumb --import-photos doesn't work in intrepid without intervention

2010-04-25 Thread Jeremy Austin-Bardo
I thought I would add my 2 cents to this frustrating mess called
gphoto2. Like many others I have suffered through many releases with
broken digital camera import support. In Lucid. I cannot even gphoto2 -l
or gphoto2 -P my photos! Which I used to do most of the time under
Karmic. I have gone through the suggestion in the bug reports to see if
anything would work and nothing has thus far to rid the "Locked Device"
on Lucid.

I have a Kodak DX7590... both gphoto2 --auto-detect, lsusb, and gnome-
devices recognize the device. I notice though that there is no folder
within /.gvfs to indicate the camera was mounted... this is proven by
the fact that gvfs-mount - u complain "Error finding enclosing mount:
Containing mount does not exist"

I am at a loss as to how Canonical or Upstreams would let this drag out
over so many releases.

This is still occuring in Karmic!!! I now believe it is related to the

2009-10-22 Thread Jeremy Austin-Bardo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

I have encountered this error multiple times when running Epiphany-Browser from
the terminal which locks up the browser.
1. Viewing the sidebar extension
2. Loading an xml page from the local filesystem
These are severe regressions IMHO that should be fixed before release! I have
also noticed similar errors in other applications' bugs as well. Makes me
wonder about what is different about the Ubuntu setup at this time, especially
when search hits only point to Launchpad.

processes that have stalled or zombified. I cannot do this in Karmic due

[Bug 381531] [NEW] Unable to mount Kodak Co. DX7590

2009-05-28 Thread Jeremy Austin-Bardo
Public bug reported:

I would like to post a regression in regards to my Kodak Co. DX7590. In Jaunty,
I am noticing that my camera is mounting twice and attempting loading two
import photo dialogs. The second mount errors that show are duhs.
 * Unable to mount Kodak Co. DX7590 - Error initializing camera: -60: Could not
lock the device.
 * Import Photos - An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not lock the
device'): Camera is already in use.
I can still download images from the camera with the mount and dialog though.
This maybe borderline useable, but in addition the camera shows as physical
mounted twice in Nautilus and it is not always obvious that it needs to
unmounted. This causes any future attempts to dock the camera to fail with out
first at least first logging out of my gnome session.

So please no replies about a missing trace... there will be none.
Definitely though, point me to what files I should check. I feel this
bug lies between gphotofs and hal with a configuration error, but I do
not know much else. I should add that I tried this on a fresh install as
well as my upgrade from Intrepid with the same results.

[Bug 348679] [NEW] Evince Pdf rendering leaves artifacts

2009-03-25 Thread Jeremy Austin-Bardo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

I have noticed that a pdf I created from an Intrepid Inkscape svg file
has had troubles rendering correctly in Intrepid Evince. The graphic
logo I created has white lines in it. I double checked this on Adobe
Acrobat 8 for linux and found no lines. I have also tested this with
Jaunty and Hardy Evince with similar white lines. I assume this MUST be
an uncaught bug in Evince as it relates to rendering these types of
corner pdf content. I also surveyed the Inkscape bugs on Launchpad and
found none that addressed my issue.
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/186696 while it mentions rendering
it does not seem to fit here.

Open the attached file in any Evince and you will see lines across the
document where it should be smooth gradients.

out that pulseaudio is the problem.

Now I when I just killall pulseaudio after testing it with sound
preferences, it works... :)

[Bug 163940] Virtual Box OSE in Universe Fails

2007-11-19 Thread Jeremy Austin-Bardo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: virtualbox-ose

I would like to inform the packager that something is amiss in the
package. I had tremendous difficulties with the installation. It hung
gnome preventing it from fully loading. I could not locate the exact
problem.

Instead. I downloaded the package from the virtual box website,
virtualbox_1.5.2-25433_Ubuntu_gutsy_i386.deb. The installation with this
package worked flawlessly.

I do not know the exact differences, but thought it important to notify
the maintainer of this package that the package is not working correctly
for me. :(

** Affects: virtualbox-ose (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Re: [Bug 58682] Re: [Edgy] Consistent Crash while query plugins with Java Script

2007-05-25 Thread Jeremy Austin-Bardo
Sorry for the lateness of this. The problem does not exist in Epiphany
and is why I switched. Yes, the issue still exists in Galeon...

Re: [Bug 75321] Re: Printing gets cut off with in-text graphics(smileys)

2007-05-25 Thread Jeremy Austin-Bardo
I will have to look around... to see have I have the page. I can say it
happened on a yahoo mail site with print preview and smileys in the
text. Give me a few more days to find it.
