[Bug 64119] add/remove ati binary package

2006-10-05 Thread Jetix
Public bug reported:

Installing the xorg ati binary package from add/remove in edgy slows down the
system and producces system crashes when running X games.
For example: I installed Ubuntu Edgy made updates and all was fine even with
fglrx.
I then fixed my monitor settings by modifying the xorg.conf with the corect
settings for my monitor (Ivory max res 1280x1024 unknow in any os :P) for
beeing able to modify my refresh rate up to 85Hz. Then I thought of installing
the add/remove ati binary package, witch I did, but I then started having
problems :(. The X started moving sllightly slower. I thought perhaps my system
configuration but the big surprise camed when I've started to get system
crashes on oppening games (that didn't happend before - to be exact total
system freez). I've unistalled the package and all is back to normal again. A
friend told me that it's the same with the nvidia binary.
My system configuration:
AMD XP 2400+, 1G DDR, ATI 9200SE ATLANTIS, 200 +80 HDD - WD

Any way congratulations for the new release It's the best one yet, and
please excuse my bad english. keep up the good work and hope this post
helps you emprove it even more.

2006-10-05 Thread Jetix
i mean the ATI binary X.Org driver. I didn't uninstall anything.
After Edgy installation the fglrx works just fine without adding anything else,
it's after installing ATI binary X.Org driver the problems begin.(Add/Remove
Applications ... System Tools ... ATI binary X.Org driver
