[Bug 730984] Re: Kubuntu - Mount SAMBA shares when Dolphin access them via CIFS

2014-02-20 Thread Jim Buddin
+10,000 Glad to see someone is finally working on this! Go Balakrishan.
Would love to be able to use KDE on my work laptop without permanently
adding fstab entries which won't mount at home. At work we have a
network samba share, IPv6 only (no idea of the IP address), accessed via
smb:// address. We NEED to open network files and work on them in
LibreOffice just like you can in Windows, Mac and other distros, this is
a showstopper for roll-out of Kubuntu.

[Bug 349767] Re: external USB hard drive disconnects

2010-11-17 Thread Jim Buddin
Just to add a +1 to this bug - I cant give exact details as I am not at
my Ubuntu box, and the external drive is no longer being picked up at
all, so cant lsusb it. I will try cycling the power later.

It is used as a backup drive, is a 1TB external SATA via USB, and it
dropped connection during a rsync backup (leading to filling up the
/mnt/backup partition with the backup data, making it impossible to log
in until some remedial work was done over SSH).

I'll post back with more useful data later.

[Bug 349767] Re: external USB hard drive disconnects

2010-11-17 Thread Jim Buddin
Ubuntu Version: 2.6.31-16-generic

Nothing comes up with lsusb (although a power cycle has brought it back
to life again now). I cant find the manufacturer of the external disk
but I *think* its a Lacie 1Tb, externally powered.

Hope that helps :) probably not.
