[Bug 912454] Re: Blank incoming messages

I just experienced this yesterday.

Can you give the name and location of the logs you need. Dbus is
dmesg.log?

[Bug 980766] Re: Remmina fullscreen jumps between workspaces

Oh sweet baby jesus, yes. It's like hammering cockroaches sometimes. :)

I'm wondering if it relates to the fullscreen mode being a pixel over
the edge or something?

[Bug 944040] Re: Remmina refuses to connect after Precise Upgrade

2012-04-20 Thread Jim Rorie
I'm going to remove myself from the bug, which is ironic since I filed
it. I'm fairly certain that my problem is external from remmina. I
think it resides in /etc/nsswitch.conf with a weird problem with avahi
and DNS.

The rest of you carry on...

[Bug 53062] Re: [needs-packaging] mysql workbench package request

2012-04-11 Thread Jim Rorie
The dependencies have changed. By downloading the following files, I was
able to get it to run.

http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/m/mysql-dfsg-5.1/libmysqlclient16_5.1.61-0ubuntu0.10.04.1_amd64.deb
http://mirror.pnl.gov/ubuntu//pool/universe/libz/libzip/libzip1_0.8-1_amd64.deb
http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/m/mysql-dfsg-5.0/libmysqlclient15off_5.0.95-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb

For my own education, is there a problem with installing these older
versions?

This is going to sound weird, but I experienced something very similar.
In my case, it wasn't a white screen rather a very large window covering
the entire monitor. It could not get it to go away as it wasn't showing
up anywhere I could kill it. I used the force quit application and
killed the window and my desktop works fine.

[Bug 944040] [NEW] Remmina refuses to connect after Precise Upgrade

2012-03-01 Thread Jim Rorie
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Precise, all my existing connections for RDP are no
longer functional. I get the following message:

Unable to connect to RDP server XX

All connections are in a windows domain. Have tried various O/S's; Win
7, XP, 2008 R2. Same result. Have tried RDP, TLS, NLA and Negoitate.
All systems are set to allow all types of RDP traffic. Have verified
that the systems are up and function from a Win7 Vbox. Tried creating a
new connection, same result.

Anything else that would be of help? Debug info attached. (Hopefully)

[Bug 927662] Re: Mouse cursor traversal between displays is too sticky

2012-03-01 Thread Jim Rorie
Perhapds it makes sense, but the implementation is unnacceptable.
Attempting to operate the windows controls on a window to the right of
the launcher is completely infuriating. You have to slow down to hit
the control, but that takes you below the stick threshold.

If I need the sticky to hit the unity launcher, then I need it more for
the windows controls which are smaller. And I need it x10 for the
resize corner. None of which is implemented and for good reason.

Kill this with fire, please.

[Bug 874535] Re: Volume Slider Jumps While Idle

2012-01-04 Thread Jim Rorie
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric running-unity

** Description changed:

In Oneiric Release, The volume slider randomly jump down a notch or two
for fraction of a second, even when there is no audio playing on the
system. If mute is selected, the menu will quickly flip out of mute
mode and back again. This change actually affects the audio output,
resulting in pops correlated with the volume changes.

[Bug 316441] Re: PHP session garbage collection

2011-02-01 Thread Jim Rorie
I don't think anyone cares about the fastest or most efficient. But it
needs to be correct. That means that it should match the PHP
documentation at php.net. Currently, gc_maxlifetime is listed as
PHP_IN_ALL which means that a PHP file can modify the setting. This is
not true, above 1440.

I've spent about 3 weeks on this problem because the cron job supercedes
the documentation.

Actually, carmaxx's bug is already reported in the thread. If you look

experiencing is the same bug, except now mutlitouch is working and the
jumping is affecting his scrolling. I don't know if these bugs are

you just have to dragndrop empathy (a launcher, or the entry in the

 you?

If this is the expected procedure, wouldn't a good starting point to be
to add a hint or prompt to let users know this is possible?

I think your feeling is correct and not specific to the touchpad. I'm

describe as grabby. Very Annoying.

I have the slight feeling this might possibly be a kernel issue. I
vaguely remember reading about kernel issues with this very device...
but quite frankly I can't remember.

I have HPLIP loaded. This was a random crash. Overall it's pretty
stable.

[Bug 559206] [NEW] Migrating Older Bookmarks window doesn't disappear and is obtrusive

2010-04-09 Thread Jim Rorie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bindwood

On every boot, I get the Migrating older books window which appears on
my desktop and never goes away. I'm not sure if it is supposed to close
by itself. Perhaps this is a better canidate for notify-osd? Or maybe
it already is and isn't displaying correctly.

Screenshot attached.

2010-04-02 Thread Jim Rorie
To sum up, I have sound output but no mic. I tested by attempting a
record via sound recorder. Input volume is NOT muted.

[Bug 398280] Re: experiencing frequent netbeans crashing

2010-03-31 Thread Jim Rorie
I'm seeing two or more crashes over an eight hour day on Lucid Beta 1.
No apport recognition. Just disappears. Last time was during a macro
operation. Once during a PHP web debug. Another time just editing.

[Bug 308191] Re: Multi fingers touch doesn't be correctly recognized

2010-03-31 Thread Jim Rorie
Has anyone looked at this project? It appears someone is rewriting the
driver for obvious reasons.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1334696

I've tried to load it, but to no avail. Perhaps someone with a little
more expertise might chime in.

[Bug 503944] Re: erratic cursor movement with multi touch

2010-03-25 Thread Jim Rorie
Apologies Maxime. There are four closely related bugs and I'm getting
them terribly confused. There is another bug that IS directly related,
but I can't keep them straight for the life of me. Bottom line appears
to be that there is voodoo in the synaptics driver.
