[Bug 1435576] [NEW] Date Created Should be Based on File Date Created Not Date Added to Library

2015-03-23 Thread Jmadero-dev
Public bug reported:

When you create a smart playlist and one of the criteria is based on
date created - it bases it on the date the file is added to your library
instead of the date that the file was actually created (based on the
file properties). This is a big issue if you're trying to create a smart
playlist and you do a full update to your library as all files are then
created again in your library.

To Reproduce:
1. Open clementine;
2. Create new smart playlist;
3. Make one criteria based on date created (say for last 7 days);

Observe: look at how many files are there

4. No do a complete rescan of your library

5. Look at how many files are now in your playlist

To say the least date created is misleading as it implies when the
file was created not when it was added to the Clementine library. For
people adding files routinely and routinely doing full rescans (yes I
know you can watch your library folders), this issue makes the smart
playlists based on date created (e.g., date added to library) not
entirely useful nor intuitive.

Thanks

** Affects: clementine (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 592176]

2014-12-06 Thread Jmadero-dev
Actually moving this to NOTABUG - it's clearly a hardware issue. I can't
reproduce on 4 machines that are newer. It's one thing to request that
we continue supporting outdated hardware, it's another to expect for us
to have great performance on these machines while continuing to improve
all other areas of the project including filters, performance on newer
machines, etc . . .

[Bug 823155]

2014-11-05 Thread Jmadero-dev
Couple things on this:

Reopened is only for a bug that has been confirmed, assigned to a
developer, developer claims it's FIXED, and after that point someone
says no it's not - this bug was never FIXED. Reopened wrong status.

Marking as UNCONFIRMED as we have no independent confirmation recently.

Also - this is not a critical bug. Lowering to Major, high. Please don't
change it again.

Lastly, if you haven't already done so, please try with a fresh profile:

With three QA members now committing time and not being able to reproduce - I'm
afraid that this might be your computer environment causing something to happen

the above steps and if you still see the problem mark as UNCONFIRMED and we'll

regression to keyword, and bibisectRequest to whiteboard. Thanks!

for this to be a MAB it should be marked as Highest and a comment should

[Bug 927931]

2014-02-10 Thread Jmadero-dev
Marking as NEW but this is an enhancement request and likely will take
quite a bit of work (detecting keyboard layouts is currently not part of
the code if I'm not mistaken) - so that being said it could be a long
time before it's implemented. If you are a developer or know a developer
would like to attempt, we might be able to get some code pointers.

Thanks for explaining

[Bug 1227569] Re: individual characters frequently corrupted

2014-01-30 Thread Jmadero
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1098334 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1098334

What can I do to get this bug out of invalid state. If you google font
corruption ubuntu 13.10 quite a few people are reporting it. It's
pretty nasty as it affects every piece of software and makes font
rendering unreadable. It must be an intel issue and if that's the case
it'd be best to go to an older driver (13.04)

[Bug 1236012]

2013-11-21 Thread Jmadero-dev
Does this bug happen if you install the package from libreoffice.org -
ensure that you completely purge libreoffice before testing. If so it'd
be nice to get some more tests with 4.1.0.1 rc and continue going
backwards until you find where the bug is introduced.

If not on that master build with kde integration enabled it'd be good
get some kind of a log - honestly beyond my expertise so I'm going to
add Michael to see if he can give some feedback.

Michael - thoughts here?

Also updating the priority as I think this despite not preventing high
quality work it's a very common feature that we hope would work without
hangs. Furthermore, highest is appropriate because of how common it is
+ it being on the MAB list.

In general we would avoid this (because it breaks from workflow) but
hopefully I've justified it enough above :)

[Bug 1199877] Re: unity-panel-service memory leak and 100% CPU usage

2013-10-29 Thread Jmadero
Just to add another finding - trying to avoid repeating what has already
been said.

This bug is 100% reproducible for me after a suspend on my laptop.
Otherwise it seems almost random (but with LibreOffice open it does seem
to happen a bit more frequently) but no matter what, I come out of a
suspend mode and I get nailed by this issue immediately.

Date: Tue May 28 08:51:01 2013 +0300
Platform: Bodhi Linux 2.2 x64

Nevermind -found some labels - indeed confirmed

Marking as:

New
Major - in general I wouldn't say this but it essentially makes the print to
labels useless - I would be surprised if it's not a duplicate somewhere
High - default, seems appropriate

In general I wouldn't agree that this is a MAB as it just doesn't affect

ahead and push it forward to the 3.6 MAB list. We'll try to push this
one forward ASAP.

[Bug 927931]

2012-10-04 Thread Jmadero-dev
No need to apologize! We're trying to keep our minds open to ideas. So,
I'm going to work on a summary of proposals with pros and cons and bring
this up again during conference call as it's clearly a popular issue
that we're trying to think of creative solutions.

Can I ask a stupid American question, with Linux, do you need ibus to
use Arabic (or other languages that use CTL)? If so, maybe we can do
some kind of check with ibus and languages. I know I use Telugu which
doesn't require CTL and I use it through ibus.

Okay, maybe we should/can do a check on keyboard layouts. Feel free to
post again with other suggestions. I know that turning it on for
everyone isn't likely so we're looking for creative options.

Sorry about asking about Arabic, I should have defaulted to Languages
requiring CTL ;)

Thanks for the information

[Bug 927931]

2012-10-04 Thread Jmadero-dev
I am marking this as NEEDINFO for my own benefit. We are working on a
solution, one of which was proposed by Caolán. It's on my list still and
not being ignored. I'm hoping someone will take FDO#54493 so we can see
if that's enough to satisfy most users.

NEEDINFO is asking for info from our team, not from the bug reporter or
any other commenter in this case. I took it out of NEW status because
it's not currently being done (because we haven't decided on a
solution).

Thanks to everyone for being patient, we're trying to get the best
solution for everyone.

[Bug 457140]

2012-09-10 Thread Jmadero-dev
The second issue should be addressed in a separate bug.

For the 1st I have really strange behavior. I can confirm that at first
it was a problem with 3.6.0alpha1 build 80d5a21 BUT after I clicked on
the check mark I was never able to get it back. On top of this after I
clicked the check mark (unticked it) a whole list of new things showed
in the options - Basically any thing that was available to show came up
in a list.

This leads me to think that the check marks purpose is to Hide List of
Non Visible Buttons. I'm not sure what the best label is, if there are
any suggestions I'll try to pinpoint it and add the label.

comment #4 seems to be a completely different issue.

As for the original point, I've confirmed this in Bodhi Linux using LO
3.5.3.2. Escape will exit the find dialog but cntrl + f will not,
leaving the user to either stretch their fingers to escape or use their
mouse as the user as pointed out.

This is of course if I'm understanding the issue correct, if not please
correct me so I can test it

The issue with close find function to add key binding is that you
wouldn't be able to assign Cntrl + f because it's already assigned. I
think it's much more functional to just have it as the same key binding
and throw in a simple check to see if the dialog is already open, if it
is, close it if the key binding is repeated

[Bug 678207]

2012-06-11 Thread Jmadero
I'm raising this from trivial status to Normal as I think .doc should be
better handled in general in order to ensure that the transition between
MS Office and LibreOffice is a smooth one. Preserving location of an
image seems pretty important if we hope to keep users around who are
forced to switch between LO and MS, for instance with me I have to use
MS Office at work and choose to use LO at home, if I was dealing with
images a lot, this bug would be a nightmare.

[Bug 908335] Re: Kernel Hard Freezing Very Often

2012-04-12 Thread Jmadero
This is the place to report and it's out of my control (or yours) to
escalate, that's up to the developers to decide importance. I'm no
longer using Ubuntu, I left it about 4 months ago for a branch of it
(Bodhi Linux) which I've been quite happy with.

Have you also tried downgrading your kernel? If there is no reason to
upgrade (ie. the new one supports your hardware better) there isn't any
harm done going back to an older kernel. As I've moved away from ubuntu
which is all about cutting edge, many developers think if it's not
broken, don't upgrade.

With this philosophy in mind I now have two installs, one really basic
one that I keep up to date for testing the other stable which I only
upgrade after the test version has worked well for 1-2 months doing
normal day to day stuff.

I do think you should try 12.04, maybe it's a X problem which will be
upgraded in 12.04, or a video driver issue which maybe was solved in
12.04. I think that the main issue is that as it gets so close to
release of a new LTS they're probably focusing on this instead of
looking at bugs on older releases (just a guess)

[Bug 908335] [NEW] Kernel Hard Freezing Very Often

2011-12-23 Thread Jmadero
Public bug reported:

I (and others in the forums) are experiencing MANY hard freezes in
Ubuntu since upgrading to Kernel 3.0. Here is as much information as I
can give now but I'll run anything (including the possibility of
allowing a remote connect) to diagnose this problem as I think it is
serious and has the potential to ruining machines as I'm frequently
having to hard shut down which of course runs the possibility of
damaging a hard drive.

Problem: Hard freeze very often (I've had as many as 5 in an hour). Hard
freeze definition from me:

1. Mouse stops moving
2. Keyboard actions have no response (including alt+cntrl+f1)
3. Hard drive spins for a shor time but then stops
4. Only way to fix is hard shut down

What's been done:

1. Checked logs (willing to provide any but I couldn't see any problem)
2. Tried finding out if software is triggering it, seems to be random, could be
wrong

Again I think that this is a major problem so I'll do whatever it takes to
provide information. Thank you in advance

[Bug 881462] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 Fails on to Run on Dell Mini 10

2011-12-15 Thread Jmadero
I guess there's an iso floating around that is custom made for the Mini
from 11.10, no 3d support from my understanding but here is a link for
those interested:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11356431postcount=4605

I'm going to run it tomorrow and see what I find out.

[Bug 831305] Re: errors in indentation while numbering in libreoffice writer

2011-12-13 Thread Jmadero
Interesting thing is I just opened it in MS Office on a work computer
and it looks fine so if you're going to verify that it's a bug make sure
to open it with LibreOffice or OOo not MS Office 2007 +

[Bug 902385] [NEW] Podcast Should Not Show As Downloaded Until 100% Downloaded

2011-12-09 Thread Jmadero
Public bug reported:

Banshee reports that a file has been downloaded as soon as you right
click and push Download. This should be changed to Banshee not
reporting a file as downloaded until it reaches 100%. Furthermore
Banshee should store downloading podcasts (ie in progress) in a temp
file and then move the files to the appropriate podcast folder after it
reaches 100%. The reason for this is that if the download is interrupted
you are left with files that show downloaded and show up in your music
library but are only partial downloads which you can listen to but are
incomplete. The only way you find out that a file is in fact not
downloaded is either by a. comparing file length to podcast source or b.
listening and the podcast cutting off part way through.

Thanks for the hard work

** Affects: banshee (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 881462] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 Fails on to Run on Dell Mini 10

2011-11-06 Thread Jmadero
More information:

Fedora 15 also fails to boot, so there it is something in common between
Fedora 15 Ubuntu 11.10 that is causing the issue. I thought it was a
unity issue but I guess it's either kernel or xorg problem

[Bug 831305] Re: errors in indentation while numbering in libreoffice writer

2011-10-31 Thread Jmadero
I can confirm this problem and I can say it has been a headache since
OpenOffice 2 or prior. Auto bullets is almost useless in
LibreOffice/OpenOffice because of this bug. I have attached my document
showing the same exact thing.

You can see that on Page 4 there is a very big extra gap for roman
numeral III, roman numerals I II look fine but then there is a gap for
3 and as the original bug report stated, there is intermitant problems
with tabbing/spaces from this point on. I am trying to add an attachment
but launchpad is rejecting it (stating not found despite me clicking on
it in the browser that pops up when I click on attachment)not sure
what's going on with launchpad. I can email the example if needed
