I'd say since the commit http://cgit.freedesktop.org/ConsoleKit/commit/?id=7b9212fa6aff55420c58f2cacd0a941762920337 has been accepted in upstream git and is in Natty, we should consider SRU'ing this to Lucid and Maverick at the very least. It is a potentially high-impact bug. Patrick, Definitely it's not an earth-shattering vulnerability, but the Ubuntu process for USNs isn't any more difficult to go through than the SRU process (need the debdiff to be tested and commented as tested on the bug report). Transitioning from a init script to an Upstart job is a fairly invasive change for a LTS SRU, especially for a widely used package like screen. Carlos, please read the last few comments on the bug. It's no longer possible to install Splashy, no matter what. Even if this bug is fixed. In 10.04, Plymouth is a CRITICAL piece of the Ubuntu boot infrastructure. You can install Splashy if you no longer wish to boot your OS, or if you want to completely rewrite the bootup scripts for Lucid again. I realize the new loading screen experience is not as great as it can be, but that should be addressed separately of this issue.
