[Bug 1860830] Re: Geolocation not working − the Google maps API always returns error codes

2020-05-24 Thread John Tanner
I can echo Eric's observation above but with Firefox 75 (released with
20.04) and Firefox 76 (latest version).

If geo.provider.network.url is set to the Google service then it doesn't
work, but the mozilla one does. If you download Firefox from mozilla
then geolocation with Google works fine, so it must be an issue with the
version provided by Canonical/Ubuntu.

[Bug 1878711] [NEW] Preinstalled extensions cannot be disabled using gnome-tweak-tool

2020-05-14 Thread John Tanner
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
Release:20.04
gnome-tweak-tool:
  Installed: 3.34.0-2ubuntu1
  Candidate: 3.34.0-2ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 3.34.0-2ubuntu1 500
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Expected:

In the extensions section of gnome-tweak-tool you should be able to
enable and disable preinstalled extensions i.e. Ubuntu appindicators,
Ubuntu dock and Desktop icons.

What happens:

All preinstalled extensions appear disabled (despite not being) and the
toggle switch next to them has not effect. Any extensions installed from
extensions.gnome.org can be enabled and disabled using the toggle switch
next to it.

Interestingly, the configuration icon for Desktop Icons when opened does
appear to work!

Video attached showing Ubuntu dock not being disabled, but Openweather
working fine. Also, Desktop Icons is shown with the configuration
settings working.

sudo update-apt-xapian-index works on 19.10 before launching Driver

in one form or another for years and years. Hopefully fairly simple to
resolve now that somebody has identified a solution?

[Bug 1762205] Re: GNOME boxes fails to start virtual os

2018-04-23 Thread John Tanner
So, this is simple to solve as it is a group issue.

1. Add group=kvm in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf
2. Add yourself to the kvm group - sudo usermod -a -G kvm userName

Works after this. but shouldn't need this fix out of the box.

[Bug 1731641] [NEW] Top bar transparency isn't removed on installation

2017-11-11 Thread John Tanner
Public bug reported:

Installing **vanilla-gnome-desktop** should provide the option of a

[Bug 1454450] Re: Bluetooth mouse laggy and erratic

2017-10-20 Thread John Tanner
I have a feeling that this is related to bluetooth and wifi coexistence.

https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi#wi-
fibluetooth_coexistence

In essence, bleutooth and wifi operate on similar (the same) frequencies
and will interfere. Normally this is handled in the firmware/kernel, but
there are problems.

Try this:

[Bug 1721271] [NEW] Bluetooth and Wifi: coexistence Problem

2017-10-04 Thread John Tanner
Public bug reported:

I'm currently running kernel 4.13.0-12 on Ubuntu 17.10 (daily) and have
noticed that with my Intel Corporation Wireless 8260 (rev 3a) there
appears to be a problem with buetooth and wifi coexistence.

Unless I disable bluetooth and/or wifi I am unable to connect to the
opposite to which I have disabled.

Adding:

options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=0 swcrypto=1 11n_disable=8

To:

/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf

Solve the problem. This is a reversion to less functionality as on
earlier kernels (default kernel on 17.04) this did not occur.

This would appear to be a problem that has previously been identified
with earlier versions of the Intel hardware (see
https://wiki.debian.org/iwlwifi#Troubleshooting) but not with the 8260.

[Bug 1719210] Re: Bluetooth audio to A2DP headset no longer works following upgrade from 4.12 to 4.13 in artful

2017-10-03 Thread John Tanner
This appears to be a problem with either the kernel or the firmware for
intel wifi/bluetooth chipsets. I've found that adding the following to
/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf and then rebooting seems to solve my
problems:

options bt_coex_active=0

I've got no idea where this radio conflict is coming from as it was fine
in earlier kernels :(
