Changing the status of this bug from 'expired' to 'confirmed', since all the way up here in Ubuntu 20 land (in 2020), I have found this bug when development testing my research OS. Hi, This problem was resolved the other day, I'd actually read somewhere about running update manager in terminal so after Ubuntu started up (after running it's scheduled scan) it worked and seems to have fixed itself! Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp Update Manager in Jaunty simply freezes up. I can't close it, I can't restart it and if I restart Jaunty (9.04) it comes up and then freezes up. I've got it set to automatically start with Ubuntu, so if there are any updates it prompts for authorisation to install. I can't change the settings in 'Software Sources' as this freezes up too. Any help appreciated.
