[Bug 95853] Re: Add an option to get a confirmation dialog before deleting files in Nautilus

Holger Berndt wrote:
the question Which file did I just delete is pretty simple to answer, no

How is it the topmost? The Wastebasket has no way to sort by deleted
date. If it did, then this improvement would be a lot less urgent, IMHO.

[Bug 500520] Re: Some essential services are not started

2010-01-02 Thread Jon White
After extensive testing (ALL DAY TODAY!) I found that almost all of the
upstart services in /etc/init are NOT invoked.

Most notably, the system is never put in a proper runlevel even though
sulogin pops up and the system *appears* to be running normally.

Some services that I confirmed did not run (by adding echo SERVICE ran
/home/rc.txt to certain places in the script .conf):

mountall
rc-sysinit
rc
rcS

rc-sysinit is responsible for getting you into your runlevel (telinit)
and that runs all your services from rc2.d

[Bug 472459] [NEW] gnome-panel takes ages to load after supend / resume

2009-11-03 Thread Jon White
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

In Karmic, gnome-panel hangs for about 50 seconds after resuming from suspended
state.
Certain applets appear instantly (e.g. system monitor), others are invisible
but respond to mouse events (e.g. volume control), and others are invisible and
don't respond (menus, launchers).

2009-11-03 Thread Jon White
From the backtrace it looks like panel_place_menu_item_append_gtk_bookmarks is
waiting for an icon.
I'll try to find out if it's a specific bookmark that's causing this wait, I've
got a GVFS SSH bookmark in there, maybe it's that.

Same problem here, gnome-panel appears to hang for about 50 seconds after

[Bug 201366] [NEW] setup.py does not install package data

2008-03-12 Thread Jon White
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: spe

Running python setup.py install does not install the package data.
Consequently SPE can't be run because defaults.cfg is missing.

It looks like the package_data line from setup.py might be wrong.
Removing each occurrence of _spe/ from this line seems to fix the
problem, e.g...

  package_data  = {'': ['defaults.cfg', 'doc/donate.html', 'doc/about.htm',
   'skins/default/*', 'images/*']}

Using Python 2.5. The problem occurs on Gentoo Linux and Windows XP.
