[Bug 398300] Re: The new gdm doesn't give an option to use .xsession
Traumflug: No. The .desktop file is what may vary from system to system. This means that the name of the option in your display manager may be different, however, the basic behaviour should be invariant. That is, .xsession and .xinitrc should work the same as they always have, it's just that the display manager will now be xsession script agnostic (no special case handling). I must say that I agree with the GDM people on this one. The .desktop approach is (at least somewhat?) standard. This could make multiple display managers on the same system reflect the same system policy (eg not allowing user xsession scripts if the appropriate file does not exist)(supposing nobody else offers it as a built-in option), and give a more consistent view (the options would have the same names and descriptions across different display managers). -- The new gdm doesn't give an option to use .xsession https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398300 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 414490] Re: [ubuntu karmic] mythtv regression - no audio in frontend
I am having the same troubles. This seems to (only?) affect ALSA output. OSS output also works. [Bug 414490] Re: [ubuntu karmic] mythtv regression - no audio in frontend
I managed to get output working using the ALSA output mode of MythTV. It turns out that more specifically, audio output to ALSA:default via MythTV is defunct. I set the output string to my actual card/output (ALSA:front:CARD=NVidia,DEV=0), and it's working fine. -- [ubuntu karmic] mythtv regression - no audio in frontend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/414490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 399516] [NEW] Missing Run Xclient Script option from gdm sessions menu

[Bug 399516] Re: Missing Run Xclient Script option from gdm sessions menu
I do not know if this is the preferred method of remedy, however, I propose the following fix: = Create a '.desktop' file in '/usr/share/xsessions' [owned by root:root with permissions 644] whose 'Exec' entry is '/etc/X11/Xsession'. See attached example. This creates a gdm sessions menu entry that runs Xsession without any arguments. The default behavior of Xsession is to check for the user's ~/.xsession, and get sh to interpret it, thus accomplishing what we want. Of course, this should work with more than just gdm [in the case that other display managers similarly lack an equivalent option by default]. ** Attachment added: user.desktop http://launchpadlibrarian.net/29025958/user.desktop -- Missing Run Xclient Script option from gdm sessions menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399516 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
