[Bug 898390] Re: krandr-tray doesn't restore monitor arrangement on startup

2012-08-22 Thread Jordan Bradley
>Ubuntu in charge of fixing bugs

When I was running Kubuntu I ended up writing a xorg.conf to arrange the
monitors which I've attached. You don't put it in /etc/X11/xorg.conf it
goes in /usr/share/xorg.d/ or something like that.

I don't think my issue is a duplicate (and how come I was never sent an
email about it being marked as a duplicate?) since this issue didn't
exist in 11.04 and 11.10

[Bug 907584] [NEW] firefox does not handle Japanese unicode characters properly

2011-12-21 Thread Jordan Bradley
Public bug reported:

For a project I was using this page as a reference:
http://www.rikai.com/library/kanjitables/kanji_codes.unicode.shtml

On Firefox 8 on Windows all the characters except the last half on the
very last line render properly. But on Linux, all but a few of the last
section do not render properly.

I asked in an IRC channel if they're having the same problem, one user
tried both Firefox and Chrome on Arch Linux and got the same result as
me: http://i.imgur.com/995O7.png So I'm not sure what to make of this.

I installed linux-image-3.2.0-4-generic as part of upgrades yesterday
and decided to try it. My laptop went for 8 hours without experiencing a
kernel panic so for the time being I'd say the problem is solved.

Okay I tried the kernel I linked to above and got a kernel panic. So
since the mainline kernel didn't fix the bug that means I should add the
"kernel-bug-exists-upstream" tag.

[Bug 646891] Re: memory measurement is to be in bytes

We have standards for a reason: a standardized method of representing
data which should be platform agnostic.

[Bug 668146] [NEW] Nautilus does not let me compress iso images

2010-10-28 Thread Jordan Bradley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

If you right click an iso image and try to compress it, there is no
Compress option in the context menu. Adding an arbitrary letter to the
extension lets me compress it.

I add that repo and it upgraded to wine-1.2, the issue still occurs. The
computer is using the nouveau driver.

[Bug 659381] Re: starting an application makes the screen go blank

2010-10-16 Thread Jordan Bradley
I tried running Chip's Challenege (download here:
http://www.freewebs.com/chipshome/chips.html), there was no output to
the console but the screen did go blank. This did not happen before
upgrading to wine-1.1.42, I have wine-1.2 on my desktop running Gentoo
and this problem does not occur.

[Bug 571753] Re: Wine cannot start Windows application due to division by zero

2010-10-12 Thread Jordan Bradley
The problem does not occur in wine-1.2.42 but this version is
misbehaving. I have filed another bug report for that however.

[Bug 659600] [NEW] Requesting latest version of hplip be built (3.10.9), fixes problem with Deskjet D1660

2010-10-12 Thread Jordan Bradley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hplip

I was having an issue getting my HP Deskjet D1660 to print using the
version of hplip available in the repository (3.10.2-2ubuntu2.1).
Downloading the source and compiling included the fix for the issue
(/var/log/cups/error_log was reporting a Returning IPP client-error-
document-format-not-supported for Print-Job error). Therefore, please
package the latest version of hplip.

Thanks

[Bug 659592] [NEW] gnome-display-properties makes unnceccesary and unwanted resolution changes

2010-10-12 Thread Jordan Bradley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

When Gnome starts up, xorg has set the screen resolution to
1440x...@60hz, which is the correct resolution and refresh rate for my
single monitor. Then for some reason, gnome uses gnome-display-
properties to change the resolution causing the screen to go black for a
second. This occurs twice during login. I have deleted
~/.config/monitors.xml and it occurs. I did not tell gnome to do this
and there is no reason for it to occur and I can't find a way to disable
it.
