[Bug 956123] [NEW] Menus of GNOME apps (Web, Documents, Contacts) not properly integrated in the shell
Public bug reported: The new GNOME applications (currently Web, Documents, Contacts) are supposed to be transferred to the GNOME Shell panel. [Bug 883119] [NEW] Issues needlessly in the IRC Council's private issue tracker
Public bug reported: Currently, the IRC Council uses its own issue tracker based on OSticket. This is needed for example for conflict resolution where users' privacy needs to be considered, and a precious few other sensitive issues. I suggest we use our own issue tracker only for sensitive issues, and file bugs here on Launchpad whenever possible. This will increase openness and also speed up issue resolution because anyone can help fix the issue. It will also help us identify active team members willing to help with general issues (in addition to their regular operator duties and such), and perhaps empower them more efficiently. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu IRC Council (ubuntu-irc-council) Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu IRC Council (ubuntu-irc-council) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883119 Title: Issues needlessly in the IRC Council's private issue tracker To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/883119/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I agree with bgruber (#6), this bug is not the same as most of the duplicates. I certainly tried to report a different issue in #856411. [Bug 865766] [NEW] Empathy does not return from idle to online status when user returns from being away
Public bug reported: As far as I know, Empathy's auto-away status is supposed to work like this: when I leave my computer, GNOME detects the idle time of 10 minutes (or whatever), blanks the screen, and puts Empathy in away status. I have learned that launching LyX with either 'QT_X11_NO_NATIVE_MENUBAR=1 lyx' or 'APPMENU_DISPLAY_BOTH=1 lyx' are usable workarounds. [Bug 571436] [NEW] Intuitive default keyboard shortcuts needed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: fbreader Starting to read a text in fbreader on my netbook, the first thing i did was trying to fullscreen the application and see how to scroll down to next page. My intuition came from web browsers and failed. Scrolling down (called large skip in fbreader) is only bound to PgDn. On my Eeepc, it requires me to press Fn+Down. My intuition told me to try the Space key. Fullscreen toggle was not bound to anything I could discover (f, F11 or Ctrl+f). The function exists so I was eventually able to bind it to F11. I suggest we should bind these (and possibly others I haven't thought about yet) to defaults similar to web browsers. [Bug 353000] [NEW] Follow presence set by the FUSA applet
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ekiga When the user sets her presence using Ubuntu's FUSA applet, Ekiga does not change its status. This should be added. ** Affects: ekiga (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Follow presence set by the FUSA applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/353000 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 353002] [NEW] Add option to hide persistent notification icon and add support for the indicator-applet
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ekiga Ekiga has a persistent icon in the notification area. This is against the GNOME HIG, and there should be an option to disable the icon. Only events (incoming calls and messages) should be notified about. Instead, Ekiga should add support for Ubuntu's new indicator-applet. ** Affects: ekiga (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Add option to hide persistent notification icon and add support for the indicator-applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/353002 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Even so, if it's critical, I can spend some more time on this and try and do what mail-notification has done. Are there two issues here? 1) Showing some header information (sender, subject) in the applet, and 2) Opening the latest message in a message window instead of focusing the full Evolution window? My request was for the latter only, although it would indeed be nice to have a little preview of what the message is about. -- Juha Siltala -- Open latest message instead of Evolution window when clicking https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/353007 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

On Wed, 2009-04-01 at 14:27 +, Yannick Defais wrote: As far as I know, the Ubuntu philosophy about the indicator-applet is to forbid any action. Thus you'll be notified about an incoming call, but you wont be able to accept or refuse it. The popup only shows you a notification and indeed does not allow any action. but the indicator-applet is a separate panel applet which is clickable and opens the recent message, allowing you to reply. However, refusing a call would indeed be a problem that needs further tought. Beside that, if there is no icon, how could you possibly show the main window to the user to allow him to place a call? The indicator applet has a dropdown menu listing relevant applications (currently Pidgin and Evolution) and allows you to open the main window just like the persistent notification area icon does if enabled. In effect, the applet's purpose is to consolidate all these persistent icons into one. Finally, the Gnome HIG allow persistant icon: http://library.gnome.org/devel/hig-book/stable/desktop-notification-area.html.en Only core GNOME programs may perpetually display an icon in the status area. It does allow this, although it's debatable if Ekiga is core gnome, the concept of core is not clear to me here. What the HIG says clearly is that the persistent icon should be optional, altough the core concept appears there again. Still, making the icon optional has not been a problem for Pidgin and Gajim, which have UIs very similar to Ekiga. -- Juha Siltala -- Add option to hide persistent notification icon and add support for the indicator-applet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/353002 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 338699] [NEW] Integrate xchat-gnome with gnome-dictionary and Web browser for looking up words
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xchat-gnome Hilighting a word in the xchat-gnome main chat window brings up a context menu with only one item: Copy. I would like to see integration to other GNOME applications, offering items such as Lookup in dictionary and Search for word in the Web. The latter could use either your Epiphany smart bookmarks, your Firefox search plugins, or just make a simple Google query. For a good implementation of this functionality, see Gajim. [Bug 287692] [NEW] empathy notification icon blinks when there is an unread message
Public bug reported: When there are unread messages, the empathy notification area icon starts blinking and blinks forever until I click on it. This is annoying and obnoxious and distracts me from whatever I am doing. When a message arrives, the icon might change to indicate me of unread messages. Additionally, an ignoreable notify bubble might appear, showing me what the message is about and from whom.
