[Bug 1841370] [NEW] GNOME Weather: "Forecast not available" (19.04 Disco Dingo)

2019-08-25 Thread Juhani Korhonen
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1695651 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1695651

Public bug reported:

I hope I did the right thing reporting the bug here again. Trying to
interpret the "Bug reporting etiquette" (articles 2, 18 and 19), I've
avoided running `apport-collect` in the last instance. I've reported the
same bug (#1695651) already two years ago when I was running Ubuntu
17.04.

Please find below the technical details in short. Should you need some
further information, I'd be glad to provide:

DistroRelease: 19.04 Disco Dingo
Package: gnome-weather 3.32.0-1

The application is able to find my city correctly. Choosing my city, I'd
expect to see the actual weather and the forecast. Location in use, no
VPN.

However, all I receive is: "Forecast not available". Weirdly enough, I
am able to see the weather information for a much smaller city that is
located more than 110 km away, even though the city where I live is a
University one.

[Bug 1713583] [NEW] Startup Disk Creator freezes at "Writing Disk Image... / Finishing..."

2017-08-28 Thread Juhani Korhonen
Public bug reported:

I am running Pop_OS! Alfa (Ubuntu GNOME 17.04 Zesty Zapus) on my
System76 Lemur laptop, and I am trying to make bootable USB with
"Startup Disk Creator". So far, I have formatted the USB stick into Ext4
format and made sure that there is only one partition. The .iso file is
called ubuntu-17.04-desktop-amd64 (1,6 GB; 1 609 039 872 bytes), and the
md5sum equals with the one given at
http://releases.ubuntu.com/zesty/MD5SUMS
(18cc54af55d7ca931bbb8588e8d9c1bd).

Information about the USB stick. Running "lsblk" and "lsusb" via
Terminal gives me the following respones. First, "lsblk":

s@pop-os:~/Downloads$ lsblk
NAMEMAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:01 1,9G 0 disk
└─sda18:11 1,9G 0 part
nvme0n1 259:00 477G 0 disk
├─nvme0n1p1 259:10 512M 0 part /boot/efi
└─nvme0n1p2 259:20 476,4G 0 part /

Second, "lsusb":

s@pop-os:~/Downloads$ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 009: ID 0951:1613 Kingston Technology DataTraveler DT101C
Flash Drive
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 5986: Acer, Inc
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 8087:0a2b Intel Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Anyway, the problem is that the application get stuck in the final phase
and nothing happens.

Thanks, Sebastien Bacher. I found a similar thread from the upstream:

[Bug 1629880] [NEW] Ubuntu won't launch after the Ubuntu, with Linux 4.4.0-39 generic update

2016-10-03 Thread Juhani Korhonen
Public bug reported:

I am running Linux Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and I've discussed in a thread at
'Ask Ubuntu: System update almost broke the system' about the Kernel Bug
— as suggested by a local user boddhi.zazen — that I experienced as I
was running my system updates. The problem occurs with "Ubuntu, with
Linux 4.4.0-39 generic", although I am still able to access Ubuntu with
the older "Ubuntu, with Linux 4.4.0-38 generic" via "+Advanced options
for Ubuntu".

Here's what happened:

1. I first ran the upgrade procedures through terminal as usual: sudo apt-get
update, sudo apt-get upgrade, sudo apt-get autoremove, and sudo apt-get
autoremove
2. However, I was told that "4 not upgraded", so I decided to run Software
Updater as well, and there was indeed updates available concerning "Ubuntu
base". I installed those successfully, and decided to proceed with restart my
system.

After the restart, my system doesn't start though. Instead, I receive
the following error message:

[ 1.452270] genirq: Flags mismatch irq 0. 0080 (nvme0q0) vs. 00015a00

Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
 - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
  - Check rootdelay= (did the system wait for the right device?)
  - Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
 - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)

I was able to recover my system through the "+Advanced options for
Ubuntu", which I opened after. There I had total of nine choices, three
options for each version. I first tried the "recovery version" of the
latest one, but it didn't work. After that, I tried the "generic
version" of the second latest, and — thank God — that one managed to
recover my system! I believe the package is called linux-
image-4.4.0-39-generic ("Ubuntu, with Linux 4.4.0-38 generic" in the
menu")
