[Bug 1571640] Re: unity-greeter scaling factor changes after a delay
Hi I'm using unity-settings-daemon (15.04.1+16.04.20160701-0ubuntu1) on 16.04 LTS (upgraded from 15.10) on my Toshiba Kira with desktop resolution 2560x1440. With 15.10 the greeter worked ok, but now with 16.04 I'm still facing the same situation as described by "TJ (tj) on 2016-04-26". Is some other action still needed? [Bug 1429933] Re: [Acer Aspire V3-371] Sometimes, cursor jumps around if touchpad is in use
Acer has confirmed me that they have hardware issues with Acer V3-371 's touchpad mouse. I contacted Acer's support here in Finland and immediately after describing the problem on the phone I received a RMA number to send the device for repairs. Acer repaired the device and returned it to me. The repair note said that grounding of the touchpad mouse had been fixed. Unfortunately the problem came back in about two weeks. Acer took the laptop back for repairs again. This time they changed entire touchpad to another one from another device manufacturer. The device is now working normally. Let's hope it keeps that way. [Bug 1394368] Re: Bluetooth with AR9462 doesn't work (New ID /Firmware)
Raphaƫl, Thank you for very very clear and precise recap. I followed your advice, but for some reason 'sudo dpkg -i ar9462-dkms_1.5.1_all.deb' stops to 'Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.19.0-26-generic (x86_64)'. I've included both - terminal output (build_command.txt) and - make.log (build_make.log) files in the attached ZIP packet. [Bug 1394368] Re: Bluetooth with AR9462 doesn't work (New ID /Firmware)
I've been following this bug as I'm also affected. I've AR9462 in Acer Aspire V3-371-79RJ and Ubuntu 15.04 (3.19.0-26-generic). I made a clean install about a month ago and have now all updates installed. Still dmesg says: "Bluetooth: Patch file not found ar3k/AthrBT_0x11020100.dfu" and bluetooth is not working. Could someone please recap the above discussion and point out what steps a general user needs to take to make Bluetooth work? [Bug 1394368] Re: Bluetooth with AR9462 doesn't work (New ID /Firmware)
I got pointed here from: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1425252 As suggested also above I copied both these files from Windows' (Program Files\Common Files\QCA-Bluetooth) to Ubuntu's /lib/firmware/ar3k -folder: - AthrBT_0x11020100.dfu - ramps_0x11020100_40.dfu With these files in place the Bluetooth is working on both of these experimental kernels: (for more info see bug 1425252, link above) - 3.18.0-14-generic #15 SMP Fri Feb 27 18:38:10 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux - 4.0.0-04rc1-generic #201502261652 SMP Thu Feb 26 16:56:29 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Bluetooth still does not work on published kernels: - 3.16.0-31-generic #41~lp1352821v1 SMP Fri Feb 20 20:52:34 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux OR - 3.16.0-30-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 12 22:06:37 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Now I'm also facing the same Bluetooth works / does-not-work after reboot issue. At least bluetooth mouse doesn't automatically reconnect after restart. Instead mouse text flickers in Bluetooth GUI screen. After clicking ON button (on bluetooth gui) for several times the bluetooth mouse might reconnect - or not. Also if I click Connection ON to mouse from underneath the Bluetooth icon on system tray it seems to try to get the connection establihed as the bluetooth icon's lock symbol goes ON and OFF repeatedly. [Bug 1148033] Re: GDBus.Error:org.openobex:Error.Failed: Unable to request session
-- Partially solved -- I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 to Sony Vaio. I had bluetooth file transfer (both ways) working nicely before that in 12.04. Now I faced this problem. I managed to partially fix the problem of transferring files from phone to computer by doing the following: 1. I installed the package gnome-user-share 2. Started Personal File Sharing from Ubuntu menu 3. Added ticks to following boxes - Share public files over Bluetooth - Require remote devices to bond with this computer - Receive files in Downloads folder over Bluetooth - Notify about received files This solved the problem with receiving files from mobile device (Android in my case) to computer. Which is the most important part for me. But I still can't send files from computer to the mobile through Bluetooth. If I try this, I get the error message: GDBus. [Bug 523796] Re: Startup list does not save changes randomly
I can confirm this! I am running a clean install of Ubuntu 11.04 64bit classic desktop, with all updates (31.8.2011). After adding a program to the Startup Applications everything looks good. After the first restart the set program starts up automatically as expected. But after that the ~/config/autostart folder is empty and on the second restart the set program does not start up anymore. In my case ~/.config/autostart folder was already owned by the username:username and the permissions were: drwx--. I changed the permissions to Drwxrwxrwx, but no effect. As a background, I am building a information Kiosk, so the Ubuntu is set to login automatically and the program I am trying to automatically launch at the startup is Chromium Browser. The command I'm using in Startup Applications is: /usr/bin/chromium-browser --kiosk http://www.amusa.fi/ruutu/etela-karjala; WORKAROUND To stop the Startup Application setting from disappearing I used the following procedure. This is not a fix, but I am able to live with this workaround: 1. Set the Startup Application normally [in my case chromium-browser] 2. Set the permissions of ~/.config/autostart folder to: dr-xr-xr-x (chmod 555 autostart) 3. Set the permissions of ~/.config/autostart/chromium-browser.desktop to : -r--r--r-- (chmod 444 filename) [chromium-browser.desktop is the startup settings file the application I want to startup] This workaround seems to work for me. Naturally I'm now unable to add more Startup Applications... -Jukka- -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/523796 Title: Startup list does not save changes randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/523796/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 656614] Re: GPG error: Ubuntu Extras repository NO_PUBKEY
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 645436 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/645436 Just came across with this same issue after upgrading one 64bit HP laptop from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10. The above fix did correct the problem, but I just thought to write to underline (for the guys like me) that one has to run the fix according to the error message. Thus the above mentioned fix isn't automatically right for everybody. So if the error is ..GPG error: http://extras.ubuntu.com maverick Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 16126D3A Then the fix is to run the following command. sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys One has to pick the Xs to the command from the end of the error message. -- GPG error: Ubuntu Extras repository NO_PUBKEY https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/656614 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 636329] Re: Gimp won't print preview
Hi Everybody, I had the same problem: empty preview in window and empty printout on a physical printer with GIMP and Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat. I can confirm that the above mentioned Dave's PPA provides solution. After installing the following updates from the PPA both preview and printing from GIMP works. gimp 2.6.10-1ubuntu999dag gimp-data 2.6.10-1ubuntu999dag libgimp2.0 2.6.10-1ubuntu999dag Thanks Dave! [Bug 437990] Re: intel 4965 fails with 5ghz (karmic regression)
Hi All! Just an update to my above messages dating back to November 2009. Yesterday I finally decided to upgrade my wife's Fujitsu (details above) to Ubuntu 9.10 - thought that this problem with Intel 4965 and 5GHz wireless-N would have been already fixed. Unfortunately not! However now it seems that this problem is now probably fixed in Kernel 2.6.32. Does anyone know when it will be available thru Synaptic Packet Manager? So far I'll have to use the Fujitsu in G-network. (creating a bottle neck to Internet connection) Cheers! [Bug 437990] Re: intel 4965 fails with 5ghz (karmic regression)
Same here. I am testing Karmic (released version!) from live CD on a laptop with installed Jaunty. Situation: Jaunty: both 2.4GHz 802.11g and 5GHz 802.11n work ok Karmic: (live CD) 2.4GHz 802.11g works ok but 5GHz 802.11.n does not work Laptop: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Si2636 with Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN REV=0x4 WLAN Access Point: Cisco Linksys WRT610n Ubuntu: Ubuntu 9.10 - the Karmic Koala 64bit Desktop (released version, with all updates 1.11.2009) I am happy to do testing if helpful. [Bug 437990] Re: intel 4965 fails with 5ghz (karmic regression)
Hi again, Just tested my other laptop, with similar setup: Karmic from live CD, Jaunty installed. Both Jaunty and Karmic work perfectly with both 2.4GHz 802.11g and 5GHz 802.11n. So Sony Vaio VGN-Z21WN is not affected and seems to be working perfectly. This laptop has: Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100AGN REV=0x54 And naturally the WLAN Access Point is the same as above: Cisco Linksys WRT610n Cheers! Hi Roger, The problem hit me immediately after connecting to the wifi/wlan network. Basicly nothing got thru to the web browser - haven't yet tested pinging anything right after connecting. [Bug 173090] Re: [upstream] [hardy] Special characters are not displayed correctly, fonts dissappear from the menu
Hi! I've had this same problem with two separate 64bit laptops running Ubuntu 8.10 Intreped Ibex (with all updates from repositories) and Open Office 2.4.1. (openoffice.org-core 1:2.4.1-11ubuntu2.1) during past month (Feb-Mar 2009). In my case the problem occured with Finnish language text written with Arial font. Both small and capital A-umlaut ( auml; ) got temporarily corrupted. Although, reinstalling msttcorefonts did the trick for me, I sincerely concur with the above, that a working office suite must be included in the normal repositories. Cheers, Jukka PS: My horror scenario is that the problem reoccurs one day when I'm giving a speech or presentation somewhere -- [upstream] [hardy] Special characters are not displayed correctly, fonts dissappear from the menu https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/173090 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 62165] Same thing here: signal strenght indicator not working
Hi there! I've the very same problem. Wifi-Radar does not show signal strenght indicators. Or more precisely: it shows the indicators , but they are all grey and thus don't really help when choosing the network.
