[Bug 97526] Re: [needs-packaging] Scratchbox2

2007-04-12 Thread Jussi Hakala
Scratchbox2 has moved to freedesktop.org.

Use http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/sbox2 instead of rahina.org
address.

[Bug 97526] Re: [needs-packaging] Scratchbox2

2007-03-29 Thread Jussi Hakala
This report is not a duplicate of bug #97522.

Although the name is the same, these are completely different pieces of
software. The name and that they are designed to tackle the same problem
is all they have in common and they should both be available for end
users.

[Bug 97526] [needs-packaging] Scratchbox2

2007-03-28 Thread Jussi Hakala
Public bug reported:

Request for package: scratchbox2

http://rahina.org/sb2/
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=414737

A cross-compiling environment

Scratchbox2 uses a LD_PRELOAD library to create a transparent cross-
compiling environment. Scratchbox2 automatically maps file system
accesses to cross compiler, target libraries and headers using a
flexible lua path mapping engine. Together with CPU transparency,
provided by qemu or sbrsh, Scratchbox2 enables fast crosscompiling
without modifying build scripts.

Scratchbox2 is written from scratch and does not have the problems of
it's predecessor, Scratchbox. It doesn't use a chroot, it uses the host
system's binaries, it doesn't care where you compile your software, yet
it aims to provide equivalent functionality to Scratchbox 1.x.
