[Bug 1396379] Re: installer uses first EFI system partition found even when directed otherwise
Thanks to all you guys for the description of the problem and the suggested fix by changing the boot flag of the preexisting efi partition. I spent quite some timee trying to fix this, since I thought i might have done something wrong. If I understand the problem correctly, Ubuntu has a bug for mor than 6 years, which breaks the system when a user wants two efi partitions to use dual boot with Windows. This would be the only installation method that would not be hampered with interferences by windows updates. And it is a problem which does not occur with Debian, on which ubuntu is based on. This raises the question for me if repairing the ubuntu installation is the right choice for me. I just want an easy to use system without too much digging. I really have to think about whether I want to apply this workaround. It also makes me a little less furious that Microsoft decided to just revert any changes on *their* efi partition during updates, when they notice tempering from other OS, since *other* OS might be a little bit careless by risking harm not only for their own installation but also for Windows. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1396379 Title: installer uses first EFI system partition found even when directed otherwise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1396379/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: After installing Ubuntu 10.4 (AMD 64) (with alternate installer to avoid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/560306) I installed all the updates after booting with recovery option. Screen goes tho powersave after reboot. Then I installted fglrx and did aticonfig --initial -f Afterwards the system still goes to powersave during boot. [Bug 600351] Re: no graphic with hd 5670 Graphic Card
I was able to fix my system using the repair console of the alternate installer disk. after opening the console on the linux partition I did apt-get install fglrx aticonfig --initial -f afterwards I was able to boot. I believe this is not the perfect way. I got some dev packages installed with apt-get install fglrx Acceleration was not running. The GUI for Installing proprietary drivers diid not show the fglrx as installed. It did allow to install the fglrx. After booting acceleration worked. [Bug 600351] [NEW] no graphic with hd 5670 Graphic Card
Public bug reported: When I upgraded my system with a Saphier HD 5670 graphic card, the Monitor goes in powersave mode during boot. I assume this happens when the system switches to graphics mode. Maybe this is related to my motherboard ASRock A780 Full HD with HD 3200 onboard graphic which can't be diisabled. The output of the internal graphic is off too. The Problems occurs both wiht Onboard Graphics AND with PCIE Graphic set as primary Adapter. I tried a clean re-Install of Kubuntu 10.04 386. The CD has the same problem when booting from it. Install by alternate Installer is possible, but after first boot from Diisk, the same problem occurs. The System iis not frozen, pushing the power button when screen is off performs a graceful shut down. klog says: (EE) RADEON(0): Acceleration initialization failed .. [Bug 213546] Re: SIGSEGV in gnibbles
I assume the reason for this problem is some kind of unfortunate userspecific settings (kde settings?), since the problem only occurs under one user account. The problem still ocurs with all current updates installed. I expect a clean re-installation to solve the problem. -- SIGSEGV in gnibbles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213546 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
