Similar problem with a Samsung NT5110, in an unstable state. That is
it starts up, partially, and displays the reboot..factory reset.. clear

Samsung will do a "depot" rebuild for $160 US. Thus, my attempt to
reinstall from a Linux/Ubuntu 14.04 system. I do not have a keyboard

[Bug 1176035] Re: Ubuntu 13.04, the mouse settings will not save

2013-07-13 Thread Katie Biegel
Same problem. 13.04 on Lenovo thinkpad X230. The problem is intermittent
for me; at times, the settings revert immediately after closing the
window; otherwise, they'll be temporarily saved, and then revert upon
reboot. Hitting 'x' versus alt+f4 produces varied and seemingly random
results as to whether settings are saved or not.

[Bug 1180297] Re: Opening facebook "Success" page in external browser

2013-06-12 Thread Katie Taylor
The position of the warning is great.
But, the icon could be better - I'll see if we have one.
And I think the text could use a bit of explanation - what does insecure mean?
A definition could be put in a tool-tip.

** Description changed:

  [Test Case]
  1. Open Online Accounts
  2. Click "Add account…"
  3. Select "Facebook"
  4. Observe that a facebook login form loads in the control center panel
instead of an external browser, with a security warning.

[Regression Potential] None: the current situation is completely broken
as long as facebook does this http redirect during auth. This fix just
  allows that http request.

  -
  Desired resolution:

Users should be warned about security passively with a notice of the
security status on the page, rather than interrupting the page-flow.

- The security status should be displayedas an icon & text. The best place for
the status is to the bottom left of the frame, balancing the legal notice link.
+ The security status should be displayed as an icon & text. The best place for

Alternatively the status could be displayed at the bottom of the
web-authentication area.
  - The icon should be similar to the icon used in the browser (browser phablet
app).
  - The text should be a description of the page security.

[Bug 1078782] Re: Workspaces switcher highlight selection

2012-11-15 Thread Katie Taylor
I dont think this bug is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1059549";>
bug #1059549.

This bug is referring to the orange highlight around the window in the
window switcher. Currently the orange highlight is around the window
that you came from. I think this is a bug and the orange highlight
should be around the window that super+s will take you to.

Bug #1059549 is referring to which content is bright and which is dimmed
when in the workspace switcher. This behaviour is inconsistent.

[Bug 1078782] [NEW] Workspaces switcher highlight selection

2012-11-14 Thread Katie Taylor
Public bug reported:

When in the workspace switcher, if you press Super+s you are taken to the
window which contains your pointer. This window is not necessarily highlighted,
as the highlight shows which window you came from.
For good user experience we should show users which window they will be exiting
to, by highlighting the window. The current behaviour is confusing.

[Bug 808669] [NEW] 11.04 install kernel xen blk driver regression.

2011-07-11 Thread Katie Lucas
Public bug reported:

When installing 11.04 on Xen, the xen_blkfront driver fails to detect
CD/DVD devices. This appears to be caused by a regression in this driver
code[1]. There is a small buffer overflow whose effect is to scribble
over the flags which indicate device types, resetting them and resulting
in the installer application thinking there are no devices to read data
from.

We (Citrix) are keen on making sure the pfix gets into 11.10.

[1] ie; fixing this regression fixes the problem.

[Bug 803811] [NEW] 10.04 i386 won't boot with >512Mb on Xen 4.1

2011-06-30 Thread Katie Lucas
Public bug reported:

This regressiojn occurred between
linux-image-2.6.32-30-generic-pae-2.6.32-30.59 and
linux-image-2.6.32-32-generic-pae-2.6.32-32.62.

The issue is that VMs with more that 512MB RAM fail to boot on Xen 4.1.
The platform that this was reproduced on was XenServer 6.0 Beta. When
the memory assigned to the VM is reduced to 512MB it boots fine.

Unfortunately there is absolutely no kernel output generated - even
though 'quiet' is removed from the command line in grub.

[Bug 391632] [NEW] Rhythmbox won't play any type of music when I press play

2009-06-24 Thread Katie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When I try to use Rhythmbox with any type of music, it will not play. I am not
sure what is going on here.

This is what it says after using "apt-cache policy synaptic"

[Bug 235521] Re: Blender freezes the system for a few seconds (8.04)

2008-10-29 Thread Katie Molnar
I can confirm this

 - Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy
 - nvidia-glx driver in use
 - NVIDIA 8500 GT
 - 2 GB RAM
 - Intel Core 2 Duo processor

Come to think of it, almost identical to OP's setup, except I *am* using
compiz. Doesn't seem to be related.

IOddly I have the exact same unexplained freezing behavior in the Linux
Second Life viewer... I wonder if this is a bug in the NVIDIA driver?

[Bug 159778] Re: Gimp "Save a Copy" Screen is Blank

Update: happens on my desktop (nVidia 8500) also, with and without
compiz

[Bug 159778] Re: Gimp "Save a Copy" Screen is Blank

2008-09-27 Thread Katie Molnar
Happens to me too:

Video: Intel 945GM
Compiz: tested both with and without.

I'm glad I do most of my image manipulation with the Python Imaging
Library these days, since this is maddening enough with my light usage.

The (blank) window does still respond to events, so it's possible to
(blindly) type in a filename. Symptoms remind me of an issue I had with
wxWidgets some time ago, in which I was accidentally removing paint
handlers from a dialog before that dialog had been destroyed.

Hope this gets fixed. I'm kind of worried that it's low priority, since
it's exactly the kind of icky user experience quirk that would scare
users away.

[Bug 248863] Re: network.proxy.socks_remote_dns ignored with system-wide proxy

2008-07-15 Thread Katie
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When I have Firefox configured to "Use system proxy settings", I've
specified a SOCKS host in my system's Network Proxy Preferences, and I
have Firefox's "network.proxy.socks_remote_dns" preference set to
"true", Firefox does not use the SOCKS host to perform DNS queries. I
expect it to use the SOCKS host to perform DNS queries in this
  situation.

If I specify the SOCKS host in Firefox's "Manual Proxy Configuration"
instead of having it "Use system proxy settings", DNS queries are
performed via the SOCKS host as expected. Conversely, in the situation
described in the previous paragraph, Firefox makes non-DNS requests via
the SOCKS host, as expected, demonstrating that it does recognize the
system-wide proxy settings to some extent.

  I'm using Ubuntu 8.04.1 with Firefox 3.0.

+ In case it's relevant, the SOCKS server I'm using is just a local
+ invocation of ssh -D.
+
+ $ ssh -V
+ OpenSSH_4.7p1 Debian-8ubuntu1.2, OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007
