[Bug 1318119] [NEW] corrupted graphics on cirrus (in qemu)
Public bug reported: Running 14.04 LTS inside of qemu-kvm with its emulated cirrus gpu that uses 24bpp frontbuffers causes broken rendering. 12.04 LTS worked fine with no corruption on the same qemu-kvm host. RHEL7 public beta had the same problem (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1074106). RHEL7 Release Candidate applied this patch: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/18244/ From the patch: So we have 2 places where gpus with 24bpp frontbuffers are still in use, cirrus (in qemu) and some early variants of the mgag200 server chips. Currently we seem to get a lot of broken rendering in qt, mesa, gnome if we expose the frontbuffer as 24bpp, nobody seems to test this anymore upstream so client side apps are constantly broken, so lets just make -modesetting expose a 24/32 shadow frontbuffer, and use the shadow update hook to convert down to the actual 24bpp front, this might be slower, but its correct and really anyone that wants this already has enough problems. I'm fully agree with A. Walton. A. Walton, If I correctly understand, your patch allows to Nautilus to run plugins without to have being restarted... and to add a plugin and use it, we will just need to write a file in the special Nautilus plugin directory. [Bug 207313] [NEW] iwl4965 : suddently ! no wlan anymore
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-12-generic Dear devs. I own a recent Thinkpad x61s with an Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 wireless device. I have had access to my wlan network correctly until yesterday : where after two hours online, the device simply diseappeared. Since this moment, It has not been possible for me to bring it back. Yesterday I was with Gutsy, but I have updated to Hardy... and the problem is still here. In further attachments, you will find the traditional logs: * uname -a uname-a.log * cat /proc/version_signature version.log * dmesg dmesg.log * sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log The problem seems to be following: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ dmesg | grep iwl [ 27.576614] iwl4965: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN driver for Linux, 1.2.0 [ 27.576618] iwl4965: Copyright(c) 2003-2007 Intel Corporation [ 27.576812] iwl4965: Detected Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN [ 28.506641] iwl4965: Radio disabled by HW RF Kill switch In addition : [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /sys/bus/pci/drivers/iwl4965/\:03\:00.0/rf_kill 0 Changing it with: echo 0 /sys/bus/pci/drivers/iwl4965/\:03\:00.0/rf_kill does not change anything. Reloading the module with: sudo modprobe -r iwl4965 ; sudo modprobe iwl4965 does unfortunately not change anything too... Other idea : setting the BIOS value with default values... but that does not change anything. I suppose I have shutdowned the wifi with a key combination, but typing FN+F5, which seems to be responsible for that, does nothing... nothing happens... and the wifi LED is always OFF (no light). I have now, no idea anymore to recover my wifi device... and unfortunately a few people seem to have similar problems. I hope this bug report will help you to identify the problem. ** Affects: linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- iwl4965 : suddently ! no wlan anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
