[Bug 1674838] Re: kernel BUG at /build/linux-7LGLH_/linux-4.10.0/include/linux/swapops.h:129

2017-04-21 Thread Ken Haase
Thanks @Chris Hermansen. As @Joseph Salisbury suggested, I tried
4.9.0-16, 4.10.0-8, 4.10.0-11, and 4.10.0-19 and the problem doesn't
crop up until 4.10.0-19 and then does so reliably (so to speak).

[Bug 1674838] Re: kernel BUG at /build/linux-7LGLH_/linux-4.10.0/include/linux/swapops.h:129

2017-04-21 Thread Ken Haase
I'm able to reliably reproduce it, but I haven't been able to generate a
small test case (I have to reboot every time I reproduce it). FWIW, the
job which reproduces it (after a few minutes) does a lot of SMP and a
fair amount of MMAPing. I'm attaching a section of the syslog that could
be relevant.

I'm happy to try to run one of the intermediate 4.10.0 kernels if it
would help, but I don't see them in the standard repos. Do I need to add
a repository to get them? (I haven't messed with the kernel for 15 years
or so.)

For actually getting work done, I'll try backing out to 4.8, but I can
readily try other kernels if it would help to get this resolved.

** Attachment added: "This is the syslog for the time my system was hung,
recovered after reboot. It also had a bunch of NULs in the syslog before the
next boot started."

[Bug 1567116] Re: unity-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in gsd_power_manager_stop()

2016-09-20 Thread Ken Haase
I can't quite tell from the report page on launchpad, but is this fix
available in Trusty? Are there plans to make it available?

Thanks!
