[Bug 452185] Re: can't access SC volumes in a UEC instance
I figured out the problem. I was looking at the web interface, under configuration in the Storage Controller section, the IP address there was my public IP address and the ethernet device was my public ethernet interface. When I changed the IP address to my private IP address and private IP address, and I created a brand new volume (the old volume would not work) this is what happened: euca-create-volume -s 1 -z AUUEC VOLUME vol-32EA04B01 creating2009-10-23T14:41:47.375Z euca-attach-volume -i i-500E09A7 -d /de v/sdb vol-32EA04B0 euca-describe-volumes VOLUME vol-32EA04B0 1 AUUEC in-use 2009-10-23T14:41:47.375Z ATTACHMENT vol-32EA04B0i-500E09A7 /dev/sdb 2009-10-23T14:42:10.274Z Then I could go in my instance, see the volume, fdisk it, create a partition, format it , mount it and create/delete files on it. I am happy! However, the question now becomes - why did the Storage Controller register itself on my public IP and public interface as opposed to my private IP and private interface? -- can't access SC volumes in a UEC instance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452185 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 452185] Re: can't access SC volumes in a UEC instance
I am still having this problem. I am using the latest uec-image from 10-20. If I do a lsmod | grep acpiphp I get acpiphp25180 0 so the module is running. I'm no longer using a bridge on my CC - I am using the setup from 10-19 daily server ISOs. I've tried euca-attach-volume -i i-46C508A6 -d /dev/sdb vol-32BA04A7 and euca-attach-volume -i i-46C508A6 -d sdb vol-32BA04A7 both return VOLUME vol-32BA04A7 then in both cases if I do a euca-describe-volumes I get VOLUME vol-32BA04A7 10 AUUEC available 2009-10-20T03:27:55.218Z it shows available which tells me it didn't attach to my instance, to check I look into the instance and sure enough the volume device is not there. I check the nc.log, and I don't find anything of relevance there, which leads me to the cc.log , where I find this: [Mon Oct 19 22:57:01 2009][001385][EUCAERROR ] bad input params to vnetAttachTunnels() [Mon Oct 19 22:57:01 2009][001385][EUCADEBUG ] failed to attach tunnels for vlan 10 during maintainNetworkState() [Mon Oct 19 22:57:01 2009][001385][EUCAERROR ] network state maintainance failed -- can't access SC volumes in a UEC instance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452185 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Actually, since my interface to the private subnet is a bridge as required according to the cc.log for MANAGED-NOVLAN which is the default setup using the server CDs, I was told by nekro_ in the #eucalyptus channel that vblade/aoe won't export across a linux bridge :( so I am thinking if you use MANAGED-NOVLAN perhaps SC has to run either on a different machine, or on another interface to the private network on the front-end.
