[Bug 1872843] [NEW] Screen Locking menu language problem
Public bug reported: In Kubuntu 20.04 (Plasma 5.18.4), in the system settings, under Workspace Behavior > Screen Locking, on the Activation tab, there is an option labeled "Allow unlocking without password for". The spinner box measures time in minutes, and the minimum option (for 0) is "immediately". This does not make sense in the context of the current label. It would make sense if the label was "Require password to unlock after". A possible word that might make sense for the current label would be "Never". In order for this menu item to be understandable, either the label or the word for the 0 value needs to be changed, or the word needs to be abandoned altogether. ** Affects: plasma-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872843 Title: Screen Locking menu language problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-workspace/+bug/1872843/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1872838] [NEW] Network connections theming problem
Public bug reported: This is a problem with the Network Connections system settings module, accessed either through the system tray icon or KDE System Settings. On Kubuntu 20.04 (Plasma 5.18.4), there is a theming problem, where the borders and tool button area of the widget containing the list of connections appears black. This clashes with the rest of the window, and obscures the button icons, and appears to be a mistake. I have not changed the default theme, or any settings related to theme colors. The problem was not present in previous versions of Kubuntu, even on Kubuntu 19.10 with the Kubuntu Backports PPA, which also has Plasma v5.18. ** Affects: plasma-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872838 Title: Network connections theming problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-workspace/+bug/1872838/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1872833] [NEW] Duplicate Breeze themes in SDDM configuration
Public bug reported: In the system settings menu, on the page "Login Screen (SDDM)" there are two themes listed as Breeze, which appear to be completely identical. I've noticed this in the past, but am reporting it now since it occurs even in a fresh install of Kubuntu 20.04. In the past, I sometimes deleted one of the two themes by clicking the "Remove" button, but it would come back after a while. ** Affects: plasma-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to plasma-workspace in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872833 Title: Duplicate Breeze themes in SDDM configuration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-workspace/+bug/1872833/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1872800] [NEW] Problem with default monospace font
Public bug reported: In Kubuntu 20.04, fontconfig refuses to prefer Noto Mono, Hack, and other monospace fonts over Noto Sans Mono, Noto Sans Mono CJK, and other non-latin fonts. I discovered the problem after uninstalling all Noto fonts except for Noto Sans CJK and Noto Serif CJK. I prefer to have only the Latin and CJK fonts, as I don't need any other languages. Non-Latin fonts are currently included in the same packages as the basic Latin fonts, so I use manually installed Noto Sans/Serif/Mono fonts, which do not include the non-Latin fonts. This worked fine in Kubuntu 19.10. Now, fontconfig insists on using Noto Sans Mono CJK SC for the default monospace font. This is true even though I have Noto Mono set as my monospace font in the KDE font settings. It remains true even using the default settings, which use Hack for the monospace font. Because of this, applications like Firefox use an incorrect font. If I install Noto Sans Mono, either manually or via the Ubuntu package, fontspec insists on using that font instead. I determined that at least part of the problem comes from a font configuration file: kubuntu-settings-desktop: /etc/fonts/conf.avail/56-kubuntu-noto.conf This file specifies Noto Sans Mono, Noto Sans Mono CJK, and a host of random non-Latin fonts, and even symbols and emoji, over normal fonts like DejaVu Sans Mono. Noto Mono and Hack are absent entirely. `dpkg -S` informs me that the package for this file is `kubuntu- settings-desktop`, so I am reporting the bug here. My version is 20.04.9. There seems to be an additional problem with KDE System Settings, since I would expect the fonts I specify there to take precedence over system defaults. But I don't understand fontconfig very well, so I will wait for someone who knows better to confirm. Additional info: Noto Mono and Hack are recognized by fontconfig. $ fc-match -a "monospace" | grep --line-number -e "Noto Mono" 128:NotoMono-Regular.ttf: "Noto Mono" "Regular" $ fc-match -a "monospace" | grep --line-number -e "Hack" 44:Hack-Regular.ttf: "Hack" "Regular" I already purged my home directory of any `fonts.conf` files and anything related to fontconfig except for my manually installed font files. ** Affects: kubuntu-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kubuntu-settings in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872800 Title: Problem with default monospace font To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-settings/+bug/1872800/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1831646] [NEW] Missing symlink for libvulkan.so
Public bug reported: RetroArch 1.7.7 fails to load the Vulkan driver, apparently because it is looking for "libvulkan.so", which does not exist at the moment. On Ubuntu 18.10, the existing files are "libvulkan.so.1.82", and "libvulkan.so.1" (symlink to the former). After adding an additional symlink "libvulkan.so" (to *.so.1), RetroArch is able to load Vulkan. [Bug 1677077] Re: Unnecessary (?) font dependencies
No response in nearly a year. This is extremely frustrating. To clarify the above comment, this is not really about saving disk space, per se. Rather, the point is that in this case, the "shared library" approach wastes space, which completely defeats the purpose. The real frustration for ordinary users is that when packages like this pull in large collections of fonts, they pollute the font lists of applications like LibreOffice. The kneejerk response I've seen is "you should disable them with a font manager", but the current options are defunct (fontmatrix) or so broken as to be unusable (Gnome and KDE's font managers). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1677077 Title: Unnecessary (?) font dependencies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/retroarch-assets/+bug/1677077/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1758632] [NEW] Provide URW Base 35 fonts in OTF format
Public bug reported: As of version 5.3, LibreOffice no longer supports Type 1 fonts, making these commonly used fonts unusable by default. See: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104701. >From the perspective of ordinary users, their documents will have stopped working for no apparent reason. While it is possible to convert the fonts manually, such users have no idea how font formats work, where to find the files, or how to convert them. Furthermore, they are difficult to find online. The only obvious results I got was the GitHub repository created recently by the original commissioners: https://github.com/ArtifexSoftware/urw-base35-fonts. In my mind, there are two possible solutions: (1) provide separate packages for Type 1 and OTF, and (2) provide both as one package. It looks like Fedora has done #2: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1496466 (comment 26). I prefer #1, since either or both can be installed by default, and the user can install/remove them independently as well. Several other font packages work like this already. Ideally this would be done in time for 18.04 LTS, since it is highly relevant to users updating from 16.04 LTS, which predated the relevant change in LibreOffice. ** Affects: fonts-urw-base35 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1758632 Title: Provide URW Base 35 fonts in OTF format To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-urw-base35/+bug/1758632/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1706126] Re: XDG_DATA_DIRS XDG_CONFIG_DIRS MANDATORY_PATH DEFAULTS_PATH are not set correctly
I have the this problem on Xenial. Double slash in XDG_DATA_DIRS and a minus in XDG_CONFIG_DIRS. Even worse, when I tried to append paths for Flatpak to XDG_DATA_DIRS using an .env file in my home directory, the result was so broken that Plasma failed to start. [Bug 1677077] Re: Unnecessary (?) font dependencies
Just found out what is going on (immediately after posting this bug -- figures). There's code in the packaging...whatever it is...that replaces the font files with symlinks to system fonts: https://git.launchpad.net/~libretro/libretro/+git/retroarch-assets- debian/tree/links.in. I suppose that closes this "bug". Still, I'm of the opinion that requiring a 70MB dependency just to get a 1.6MB font is counterproductive, but where do I post a bug report about this?? As should be obvious by now, I'm finding it difficult to figure out how everything on Launchpad connects.
[Bug 1677077] [NEW] Unnecessary (?) font dependencies
Public bug reported: I originally posted this as a question under the "Answers" section and was encouraged to report this as a bug. I noticed the the (large set of) M+ fonts were added to Retroarch as a dependency recently, when they appeared in LibreOffice and investigated using Synaptic. It looks like only one of the fonts is actually used, and furthermore appears to be embedded in the source. See: https://github.com/libretro/retroarch-assets/tree/master/xmb/monochrome and https://github.com/libretro/retroarch- assets/commit/3bac2689d8caa84091d37f7e6355703239af67e2. If this is the case, then the font dependency should be unnecessary. Perhaps likewise for Roboto. Full disclosure: I actually noticed this first with the "Libretro Stable" PPA on Xenial, but being unfamiliar with Launchpad found the same problem with the official Zesty package and ended up posting against the distro package from there. Not sure if I should make a duplicate post for the PPA. ** Affects: retroarch-assets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1677077 Title: Unnecessary (?) font dependencies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/retroarch-assets/+bug/1677077/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
