[Bug 1891338] [NEW] apparmor misconfigured for envice
Public bug reported: On a fully up to date xubuntu 20-04 system, when i run evince and click on a link, it fails to follow that link in my browser. This kind of thing happens when you are reading a technical paper and want to follow one of the references and click on the doi or url. When i click on the link i get a box that i cannot copy from that says: Failed to launch preferred application for category "WebBrowser". Failed to execute child process "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xfce4/exo-2 /exo-helper-2"(Permission denied). Did I say that it is annoying that i could not copy the text in this box!! The output of the ldd command you asked for is attached. I should also point out that this worked fine under xubuntu 18.04. I had originally posted this as an additional comment on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1869159?comments=all but https://launchpad.net/~seb128 said that I should submit this as a separate bug because this is likely an apparmor configuration problem that is similar to the ancient bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/987578. ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apparmor -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1891338 Title: apparmor misconfigured for envice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1891338/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I found the following page online https://bluesabre.org/2019/10/20/install-xubuntu-19-10-on-a-raspberry-pi-4/ the claim is that this bug is in the greeter and it has been fixed upstream. i followed the directions to install a different greeter and the xubuntu now works. i had updated to the latest kernel (1014) before trying this fix but it did not help. [Bug 1849886] [NEW] lightdm does not work on eoan on raspberry pi 4
Public bug reported: if you follow the directions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop about 20% thru the installation it will ask which window manager you want (using dpkg-reconfigure). if you select lightdm, you will only get a blank greeter screen after you reboot. using sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm3 resets this to gdm3 and after a reboot, everything is fine. this was done on a clean armhf eoan install on a 4gb raspberry pi 4B. I still get the failure. From the prompt in your run, it looks like you are running the arm64 version, i am running the armhf version. [Bug 1829917] [NEW] laptop fails to return from suspend after kernel upgrade
Public bug reported: most of the time when i do a software update that involves installing a new kernel, the laptop fails to properly restore the screen when returning from the suspension. (i always reboot after doing the update, that is not the problem). I can "fix" this by getting into the power management configuration and changing something (pretty much anything) and then changing it back. Once i do this, the computer works properly after a suspend. It behaves "as if" there were some persistent state whose format or location changes in an incompatible way with each kernel release and that this gets reset by the power management app but is not cleared by the update process. this is an amd based machine with amd based graphics. kenny ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: pm-utils (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-50.54-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-50-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.6 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Tue May 21 14:30:20 2019 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-06-21 (333 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 18.04 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180426) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: pm-utils UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: pm-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1829917 Title: laptop fails to return from suspend after kernel upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pm-utils/+bug/1829917/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1776918] [NEW] grub installation hang on 0%
Public bug reported: This should be an easy problem to replicate and fix. I was installing 18.04lts server on a system with two identical disks in a raid 1 config. When i did the partitioning, i did not set the bootable flag on any of the partitions. (I had in fact reused the partitioning from a 14.04 install but since you cannot go directly from 14.04 to 18.04, i decided to just blow away / and reinstall.) The issue is that at the point of partitioning, it should have told me that i did not have a bootable partition, rather than letting me get most of the way through and then hanging at the start of the grub install. For all of my other machines, i use the desktop installer with the gui and that does not seem to ever ask me to mark a partition as bootable so having to do it for the server install was a novel situation. ** Affects: grub (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1776918 Title: grub installation hang on 0% To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub/+bug/1776918/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1568604] Re: xubuntu 16.04 beta looses mouse cursor when returning from sleep
Multi-GPU Configuration 1 single GPU card / integrated GPU Graphics Processor NVIDIA Quadro K2100M / Intel HD Graphics 4600 - 2 GB Video System Features NVIDIA Optimus I need to also add that this was with the default driver that you get when you do an install. i just installed the nvidia 361 driver and the problem seems to have gone away. ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: no matter if you suspend or sleep, to swap or disk when you return from it, the mouse cursor is missing.you can still move the mouse and you can see (because it highlights the window) as you move it around. But the cursor is not displayed on the screen. i am using a lenovo W540 laptop. I downloaded the latest beta on april 8 2016. this is xubuntu using the xfce window manager. - the cursor does return if i log off and log back in, but that actually - defeats the purpose of going to sleep. + the cursor does return if i log off and log back in, but that actually defeats the purpose of going to sleep. + --- + ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu1 + Architecture: amd64 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-04-08 (2 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Beta amd64 (20160323) + NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_uvm nvidia_modeset nvidia + Package: light-locker 1.7.0-2ubuntu1 + PackageArchitecture: amd64 + ProcEnviron: + LANGUAGE=en_US + TERM=xterm + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-18.34-generic 4.4.6 + Tags: xenial + Uname: Linux 4.4.0-18-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) + UserGroups: + + _MarkForUpload: True -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568604 Title: xubuntu 16.04 beta looses mouse cursor when returning from sleep To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/light-locker/+bug/1568604/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I do not have a problem with you closing this bug, But before you do you should consider updating the package documentation of the fglrx driver because it says that a radeon 9600 is a supported chipset. kenny -- installation of ati drivers hoses thinkpad T42 system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350931 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 350931] [NEW] installation of ati drivers hoses thinkpad T42 system
Public bug reported: The ati fglrx drivers do not work on my ibm thinkpad T42. The display chip is an ATI mobility Radeon 9600 which is in the supported list of gpu's for this driver. I tried this on both 8.10 and 9.04beta. On the 8.10 system, the driver ices when it is loaded and i get into the "having trouble loading the graphics" set of dialogs. However, I am able to run things in degraded graphics mode. On the 9.04 beta system, the the display is just messed up and I am hosed. I currently have the 8.10 system installed, so that will be the easiest one to reload the drivers to get you the info you may need. But i could reload the beta if that is more interesting to you. In both systems, everything worked fine before i loaded the fglrx drivers. These drivers do work fine on my T60 for 8.10. I have no plans to put the beta on that machine. ** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- installation of ati drivers hoses thinkpad T42 system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/350931 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
