[Bug 1134389] Re: Broadcom Sta/wl Drivers causes random kernel panics on ubuntu raring

2013-05-01 Thread Kimr1508
Yes, b43 is not good. I also experience connection drops with BCM4312
802.11b/g LP-PHY after a short time of use.

We need the STA/Wl to work, since it is an all Linux distros issue - not
only Ubuntu.

Someone at http://askubuntu.com/questions/263411/how-to-install-
wireless-driver-broadcom-sta-wl-for-asus-x201e-with-kernel-3-8 seems to
have created a patch for kernel 3.8, but I am not quite sure where to
implement the patch changes, so I have not tried it out myself.

[Bug 1134389] Re: Broadcom Sta/wl Drivers causes random kernel panics on ubuntu raring

2013-02-27 Thread Kimr1508
I receive kernel panic after a random number of minutes (normally 2 - 15
minutes) when I use Transmission. When doing casual web browsing I do
not get any panic, so maybe it is network load related.

If I boot with kernel 3.5 there are no problems at all.

The kernel panic on broadcom 4312 can also be reproduced copying a large
file to another computer (samba share). So it is not only when
Transmission is used to generate network traffic .

[Bug 292450] Re: Broadcom STA/wl driver causes random kernel panics

2013-02-23 Thread Kimr1508
I just want to an some extra comments to my #131 comment.

On my machine with broadcom 4312 wifi the kernel panic can be reproduced
quite easily, if I start Transmission and add a couple of torrents.
After 2 - 15 minutes the panic normally happens.

If I do ordinary web browsing with Firefox, I do not experience any
problems, so maybe the issue is related to network load.

With kernel 3.5 there are no issues at all.

Yes. I also experience kernel panics.

The issue started after upgrading Xubuntu from 12.10 to 13.04.

But it only happens with kernel 3.8. If I boot 13.04 with kernel 3.5 the
issue does not occur.

[Bug 654272] Re: worm game. cannot start new game. game score is initialized but the game splash (worm with green background) does not disappear

2010-10-04 Thread Kimr1508
Dear Darran,

Yes, the problem can be reproduced. I have tried removing Gnibbles and
installing the game again but the problem occurs again.

To recreate the error follow these steps:
- start Gnibbles
- start new game
- the game starts resetting the score of each worm, but the game level area
does not appear.

I have attached a screenshot showing worm (orm in Danish) score point
and the start up image where the actual game level should be.

Worm 1 has only 4 lives left, and worm number 4 has scored some points
but the gaming level is not visible.

[Bug 220407] Re: Cannot change screen brightness on Fujitsu T2010 laptop in Intrepid

2009-04-04 Thread Kimr1508
Just wanted to add that the same brightness issues can be found on a
Acer 5315 laptop running Jaunty beta.

Adjusting volume work fine using the fn keys, but brightness does not.
The brightness OSD appears but I cannot change the brightness.

Changing the brightness using the gnome brightness applet works fine a
side from that it's very flickery (like its is starting at dark level
and then jumping to the new lighter brightness level every time I make
the brightness lighter, so it goes from dark - lighter1 - dark -
lighter2 - dark - lighter3 - dark - lighter4)

[Bug 327668] Re: gnome-appearance-properties crashed after login on 8.10-9.04a4 upgrade

2009-02-19 Thread Kimr1508
Thanks for your reply.

I was just going to write some updates to my previous notes.

Some days ago I reinstalled Ubuntu 8.10 and most of the programs I had
installed.

A few moments ago I upgraded to alpha 4 again, and I have not received
the error like I did the first time, I tried to upgrade to alpha 4.

I guess there has come a lot of updates the last 10 days.

I'll keep the valgrind link, if I ever experience the problem again.

From my point of view I think the bug can be closed again, since I have
not been able to reproduce the problem the second time around.

[Bug 310301] Re: Jaunty alpha 2 black screen after ubuntu progress bar

2009-02-10 Thread Kimr1508
I am getting the same issue but with alpha 4 after installing the latest
updates today.

I had no boot problem after upgrading 8.10 to 9.04 alpha 4.

If I disable the splash screen the system boots without any problem.
That confirms the solution written by Patrick Kilgore.

My computer is an Acer 5315 laptop with Intel X3100 graphics.
