[Bug 811355] Re: Oneiric won't start x on boot up

2011-09-06 Thread Kiwited
This problem still exists with the latest kernel upgrade to -10.
Desktop had patchy and intermittent operation with the earlier kernels and will
start in (I think) 2D mode with -08, it has yet to operate smoothly.

[Bug 811355] [NEW] Oneiric won't start x on boot up

2011-07-15 Thread Kiwited
Public bug reported:

Upgrade to 11.10 Alphafrom 11.04. On reboot hung at Checking Battery State.
It looked as though x was trying to start but not succeeding.
Rebooted using Recovery mode. Found the Low Graphics option was not there.
Ran Broken Packages option which replaced a lot of stuff, then Continue Normal
Boot.
Was dropped to command prompt to login. After logging in tried startx. Looked
as though x was starting then stopped at screen with error message box Failed
to load session Gnome and a logout button which dropped me back to command
prompt.

[Bug 710377] Re: cant move or resize windows with compiz

2011-06-06 Thread Kiwited
Since updating to Natty, I have been unable to drag a window around the cube to
another desktop. Instead, the window stops part way around, as though the mouse
pointer cannot go to the next desktop. Also, the movement is slow and jerky,
unlike previously when it was quick and smooth.
My system is:
AMD 64bit X6 1055T CPU, Radeon 3870 graphics, 8 Gb ram.
I have tried the above suggestions without success.
