[Bug 531190] Re: upower (devkit-power) reporting bad data when AC cable is unplugged
Well. I'm not experiencing this bag on that my laptop anymore. But I need to say that now I have lubuntu installed on it. So here now xfce4-power-manager is used instead of gnome-power-manager. This was upower bug but it was G-P-M who turned off power on unplug events. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/531190 Title: upower (devkit-power) reporting bad data when AC cable is unplugged To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/devicekit-power/+bug/531190/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 415023] Re: brightness is broken on MSI WIND U100
The fix that was introduced here is just simple ignoring of Fn+Brightness keys in hal or lately in udev rules. But it is not fully close the problem: 1. When brightness is adjusted by keys it is go up or down 2 steps from one keypressing. 2. Everytime brightness is adjusted 'Unknown key pressed' messeges is logged. And since this bug not only related to WSI Wind but clones too, upgrading the BIOS is not the solution for everyone. [Bug 581630] Re: Critial battery suspension on full battery
Here is the reason: energy-rate: 791.681 W The same case like mine. In fact there are bugs already filled where I already made my comment. All those bugs about that suspend or hibernation is happened after AC is removed. Here is from my comment in #516023: There are laptops that have enormous peak in energy consumption while being plug to or unplugged from AC power. Look at screenshoot from gnome-power-statistic: energy-rate is more then 0,7kW When cable was unplugged calculated time-to-empty is wrong and very small. But g-p-m reacts on this event and do what is set in prefs. To avoid suspend or hibernating I turn off time policy: gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/gnome-power-manager/general/use_time_for_policy false In this case 'Critical low battery' event not happen because percentage is correct. But 'Battery discharging' notification still shows wrong minutes and right percentage: 1 minute of battery power remaining (99%) Actually this energy-rate jump not g-p-m related (I filled bug 531190 against upower), but anyway this behavior of g-p-m is very annoying. -- Critial battery suspension on full battery https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/581630 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 516023] Re: Critcally low shown on unplug at 100% full
Today I search in newest bugs for gnome-power-manager and found several similar cases. At least those new bugs sound very similar. I decided to post here what I discover till now. There are laptops that have enormous peak in energy consumption while being plug to or unplugged from AC power. [Bug 473552] Re: Battery incorrectly reported as critcally low at when almost full
Hi Ben, No, I'm not sure. In my issue upower send wrong data just when unplugg or plug power cord. Maybe it is not upower issue, something wrong with hardware or it is some transient process. But gnome-power-manager reacts to this transient process with message and hibernating. BTW. yesterday I install latest xfce4-power-manager. In version 0.9.90 it has upower in Depend At first I was trying to set no action on critical battery. But in fact I have no problem with critical battery when unplugging with xfpm instead of gpm though gnome-power-statistics still show me power surges In fact I asked here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /devicekit-power/+bug/473552/comments/9 about bug 516023 because that one is the same like my issue. [Bug 473552] Re: Battery incorrectly reported as critcally low at when almost full
I can confirm my case (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/516023 ) in Lucid Alpha 3. My case is: When AC is unplug I immediately see battery critically low then the hibernate/suspend action is happend according the settings in power management. The same situation like was described here http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-power-manager- list/2010-January/msg1.html So: devkit-power (or upower) reports enormous energy-rate for first time after cord is unplugged. GPM reacts on this first event not checking if situation changes after one second though then devkit-power starts to send right reports. Plugging cord again not prevent to suspend or hibernate, but it is perhaps another bug in upstream https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=594739 How I can provide devkit-power output it seems that it is now upower. But it seems upower --monitor-detail not fully implement devkit-power output Will be gpm --verbose enough? ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #594739 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=594739 -- Battery incorrectly reported as critcally low at when almost full https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/473552 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 415023] Re: brightness is broken on MSI WIND U100
I'm not test Karmic yet. [Bug 261635] Re: laptop key errors in messages on advent 4211 (badged msi wind)
Hi Pyrox This bug was marked as Won't Fix because there is no confirmation on advent 4211. As for LG X110 you could solve this Unknown key pressed messages by making them known. I prepare fdi (in attachment) to add here /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/ But this leads to new problem at least in my Ubuntu 9.04: Screen flickering (brightness up and down continuously) accurs when screen-off event happens. To check it without waiting for what time in gnome-power-preferences is set I use xset dpms force off After that I see flickering until kill gnome-power-manager. Not sure if it is related to gnome-power-manager. There are bugs already filed about similar problem and not only on MSI WIND. If you'll find this flickering on your LG X110 with Karmic let's file new bug. ** Attachment added: 30-keymap-lg.fdi http://launchpadlibrarian.net/30457376/30-keymap-lg.fdi -- laptop key errors in messages on advent 4211 (badged msi wind) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/261635 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
