[Bug 422511] Re: problem with new scrollbar in Human theme - GtkRange::trough-border set to 2

2009-10-29 Thread Koterpillar
Hi, I've installed human-theme from Nikola Kovac's PPA, and now Skype and
Eclipse are both un-(=ugly-)themed. When running, e.g. Skype in command line, I
get:
/usr/share/themes/Human/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:105: error: unexpected identifier
`trough_border', expected character `}'
Same output seen from Eclipse.

 Restart your computer.
This does not help. Actually, the problem is there for some days, it's
just now I saw the error message.

Re: [Bug 422511] Re: problem with new scrollbar in Human theme - GtkRange::trough-border set to 2

2009-10-29 Thread Koterpillar
You have installed something from a PPA. It is not the version which was
included in the release and therefor inappropriate for this bug. In any
case, your problem is a separate bug and not part of this
I know, but I am testing the proposed solution for this bug, so I feel
it appropriate to point out a problem with it.

It's because skype is 32 bit, and the 32 bit murrine engine is in
ia32libs and hasn't been updated to support trough-border. I'll upload
an ia32libs package to my PPA
My bad, I forgot to mention that my Eclipse is 32-bit too.

[Bug 462454] [NEW] Should not have a notification icon, or it should be optional

2009-10-28 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: beagle

Beagle inserts an icon into the notification area. The icon does not
notify of anything; when clicked, opens Beagle search window, which
could be opened by a launcher all the same. Given that I already have
Tracker applet in the panel, the icon is useless. There at least
should be an option to disable it, ideally, on by default (a launcher on
the panel, and Tracker applet give the same functionality and do not
clutter notification area).

The workaround I found is to disable Beagle search tool in Startup

[Bug 462524] [NEW] After using right arrow to go to item menu, left arrow should go back

2009-10-28 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

When using deskbar-applet, I can choose an entry (e.g. a file entry) and
press right arrow to display an action menu. This can be done entirely
using keyboard (Alt-F3, type something, down arrow twice -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/84722, right arrow). However, the
intuitive key for go back to search results - left arrow - does
nothing, going back requires either a mouse click, or pressing Tab and
then Space. Left arrow should go back to items list, and perhaps this
should be indicated by a left arrow icon somewhere.

Also, ZhengPeng Hou, you can still have the icon, it's enabled by

[Bug 447780] [NEW] Send problem report to developers window doesn't respond to Tab

2009-10-09 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apport

It is impossible to use keyboard to navigate Send problem report to
developers window. When it appears, the focus is on Content of the
report, and Space triggers the window with that information. However,
there is no way to use keyboard to move to Cancel button - neither
down arrow nor Tab work.

Workaround: Enter chooses Send report, Escape chooses Cancel. Still,
unavailability of Tab makes the window un-intuitive.

[Bug 445243] [NEW] gnome-display-properties cannot set virtual resolution

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Trying to set up dual screen configuration (Acer Aspire One 110's screen
and Sony SDM-HS95P), I opened gnome-display-properties and set both
screens to their native resolutions (1024x600 and 1280x1024
respectively), clicked Apply. I was told that I need to enable virtual
resolution, I clicked Yes, authenticated for making a system-wide
change, told that I need to log out and log back in. However, nothing
changed on the next logon. I still get 800x600 on each screen and same
prompt when trying to set the resolution as I wanted.

[Bug 445251] [NEW] Enable displaying input language instead of keyboard layout in gnome-keyboard-applet

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

Currently, gnome-keyboard-applet indicates the selected keyboard layout, not
language that layout belongs to. For example, when entering English using USA
keyboard layout is shows USA.
1. This might be confusing for people using USA layout for entering English in
another countries.
2. When switching between two input languages, more important information is
not layout, but the language itself.
3. This is not consistent with what Windows shows.
So, there should be an option for making gnome-keyboard-applet display not the
layout name, but the language name (abbreviated if needed).

[Bug 445722] [NEW] Output file name with non-latin characters isn't displayed correctly

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pitivi

When rendering a movie, if an output file name chosen in Save dialog
contains non-latin characters, it gets mangled.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open PiTiVi, add some clips to timeline.
2. Choose Render project.
3. Click on Choose file, enter some non-latin filename, for example, 测试.

Expected results:
The Render dialog shows filename exactly as entered, 测试.

[Bug 445726] [NEW] Should add an extension to rendered file names or guess format from entered extension

2009-10-07 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pitivi

When rendering output, there are separate selections for file name and
file format. Therefore, it is easy to create a file in some format
without any extension, which might lead to confusion later when opening
that file. Pitivi should append an extension to the file name based on
chosen format and/or guess the format from file extension entered, like,
for example, Gimp does.

[Bug 444745] [NEW] Applet freezes when trying to connect to a wireless network

2009-10-06 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

On an Acer Aspire One, when I try to connect to a wireless network (from
the applet menu), nothing happens and the applet doesn't react to clicks
anymore. The network in question has WPA/WPA2 enabled, and I have
connected to it before. Also, running nm-tool produces the following
warning:

NetworkManager Tool

State: connected

** (process:2349): WARNING **: error: failed to read connections from
org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerUserSettings:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application
did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the
reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

(the usual connection list follows, will attach if needed).

[Bug 403195] Re: Alt-Tab doesn't work with a drop-down list open

2009-09-27 Thread Koterpillar
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 22199 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/22199

This is not specifically related to Firefox. All Gnome dialogs, other
applications, even a menu open in gitk (which uses Tk) are affected.
So I don't think it's a duplicate.

[Bug 436013] [NEW] Ctrl-C doesn't work in built-in terminal

2009-09-24 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: geany

In the built-in terminal window, Ctrl-C doesn't send the signal to the
running process, but clears the screen.

How to reproduce:
Open Geany, open built-in terminal.
Start a long-running command, for example, ping ubuntu.com.
Press Ctrl-C.

Expected results:
ping stops, the shell prompt is displayed.

Actual results:
The terminal screen is cleared, ping messages continue from the top.

[Bug 436025] [NEW] Cannot tab-complete paths after a directory with a name needing escape

2009-09-24 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bash

If a directory name needs escaping (e.g. contains spaces), bash fails to
tab-complete anything after it.

How to reproduce:
Create some nested directories where the first one's name contains space.
$ mkdir -p one\ space/two
Tab-complete the first one: type cd o and press Tab.
Tab-complete the next one: type tw and press Tab.
Observe the results.

Expected behavior:
The command line becomes:
$ cd one\ space/two

Actual result:
The command line is completed only the first time, after that no names are
recognized.
$ cd one\ space/tw

Moreover, if the bad name starts with [, which is escaped the first time as
well, removing the \ before it makes completion work:
$ mkdir -p \[some/thing
Now, cd [ is completed to:
$ cd \[some/
After this, th (or anything else) won't be completed. However, if I manually
remove the \,
cd [some/th is completed to:
$ cd \[some/thing/

[Bug 433410] [NEW] File menu makes no sense

2009-09-20 Thread Koterpillar

it contains only one menu item, Quit, which can be, for example, moved
to Session menu.

[Bug 423778] [NEW] DarkRoom active window caption is unreadable in Human colors

active window caption text is drawn with two shades, both dark in color,

[Bug 421350] [NEW] Keyboard navigation with PgUp/PgDn doesn't move selection

2009-08-30 Thread Koterpillar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When navigating folders containing many files, Page Up and Page Down
keys behavior is inconsistent with arrow keys. Arrows move the selection
to the next file, and if needed, scroll the viewport so it is visible.
However, PgUp/PgDn simply scroll the viewport, not switching the
selection. Therefore, if I press down arrow after several PgDn presses,
meaning to advance the viewport one line further, it jumps back to where
the original selected file was. This is inconsistent with, for example,
text editors and browsers.

G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck
--leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log notify-osd
/usr/lib/notify-osd/notify-osd

[Bug 348995] Re: notify-osd crashed with SIGSEGV in realloc()

2009-08-27 Thread Koterpillar
My bad, the right line will be:
G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck
--leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log
/usr/lib/notify-osd/notify-osd
Also, you'll have to
1) kill notify-osd (killall notify-osd) which would be already running then,
otherwise your new instance will immediately exit
2) reproduce the crash (use cgmail?)
