The problem remains the same since 2009. I'm able to reproduce it
equally on Ubuntu 15.10. Any chance of getting this fixed, guys?

[Bug 1413963] Re: network manager cannot configure pptp VPN

2015-02-12 Thread Kurt Kraut
I'm impressed by this bug. This is a huge regression. Sadly, PPTP is
still one of the most adopted protocols for VPN and for Ubuntu 14.10 and
later versions it is not possible to add/set a PPTP client. This feature
is totally vanished from NetworkManager GUI, even with the package
network-manager-pptp-gnome installed. Could any dev take a look at this,
please?

This is blocking me from upgrading the package initramfs-tools to the
latest version. Because I live in Brazil, the layout abnt2 is the
correct one for this Ubuntu Server (no Xorg installed) and it was
properly selected during install. But in the full-upgade this started to
happen unexpectly. I never changed the keyboard settings or messed with
it.

[Bug 1005674] [NEW] LibreOffice crashes on load with a specific user

2012-05-28 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

Out of the blue, libreoffice applications Writer and Calc fails to load
at splash screen. No errors are prompted. I've attempted to run from the
terminal libreoffice --norestore --nosplash --writer and the splash
still appears and the process ends right after. No errors are outputed
on terminal.

What I've discovered is if I create a new user on Ubuntu and log in with
the new user, LibreOffice Writer and Calc loads normally as expected.
I've already remove all libreoffice packages with aptitude purge and re-
installed them and this issue keeps happening with my main
account/username on Ubuntu. Please not I'm not even trying to load a
specific file.

This is happening to me on a Ubuntu 12.04 fresh install (but after some
weeks of usage). I'm sending attached the crash report collected from

[Bug 578633] [NEW] If desktop effects are enabled, gnome-panel stills visible during fullscreen OpenOffice Impress presentation

2010-05-10 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

If desktop effects are enabled, gnome-panel stills visible during
fullscreen OpenOffice Impress presentation which is clearly an
unexpected behaviour. Disabling desktop effects makes OpenOffice
presentations trully fullscreen and without letting gnome-panel visible.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Enable desktop effects with gnome-appearance-properties
2) Open OpenOffice Impress and create a sample slide
3) Press F5 to toggle to presentation/fullscreen mode

Then gnome-panel will be visible above the OpenOffice slide, even
blocking its view.

[Bug 532095] Re: Changing left/right balance in sound-preferences changes the output volume slider when indicator-applet is running

2010-05-01 Thread Kurt Kraut
Are you sure this has been fixed? I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 on a
frest install and see what happens when I try to change the balance:
http://www.kurtkraut.net/images/balance-reduces-sound.gif

I'm running gnome-media version 2.30.0-0ubuntu1 and indicator-sound
0.2.2-0ubuntu1

[Bug 531555] [NEW] php5-cli isn't compiled with SQLite support

2010-03-03 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: php5

For my surprise I've noticed that php5-cli isn't compiled with SQLite
support. SQLite is the best database system for desktop usage, for
applications that are not running in a webserver. Firefox and Amarok use
and depend on SQLite for storing data. So, since php5-cli is aimed to
allow Ubuntu boxes to run PHP applications that are not meant to be web
applications, the lack of SQLite is an important limitation. It is easy,
light and reasonable to have SQLite in php5-cli.

So, I'd like to request that php5-cli binary to be compiled in future
Ubuntu versions with SQLite enabled.

[Bug 485899] [NEW] pwmconfig generates a blank values /etc/fancontrol

2009-11-20 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lm-sensors

I'm trying to use pwmconfig and here is the output:

### BEGINING OF PASTE ###

r...@ktk7:~# pwmconfig
This program will search your sensors for pulse width modulation (pwm)
controls, and test each one to see if it controls a fan on
your motherboard. Note that many motherboards do not have pwm
circuitry installed, even if your sensor chip supports pwm.

We will attempt to briefly stop each fan using the pwm controls.
The program will attempt to restore each fan to full speed
after testing. However, it is ** very important ** that you
physically verify that the fans have been to full speed
after the program has completed.

Found the following devices:
   hwmon0/device is it8718
   hwmon1/device is coretemp
   hwmon2/device is coretemp

Found the following PWM controls:

   hwmon0/device/fan2_input current speed: 2227 RPM
   hwmon0/device/fan3_input current speed: 0 ... skipping!

Warning!!! This program will stop your fans, one at a time,

[Bug 50699] Re: This is not a matter of distribution

2008-02-01 Thread Kurt Kraut
Hi Przemyslaw,

This is not a matter of distribution. Launchpad should be free software
in order to receive multiple colaboration on its development, bugfixing
and feature implementation. The reason is, anyone who used free
software, strongly belive that a community building a software is much
more powerful that a single company developing it.

While Canonical is not releasing Launchpad as a free software, for me,
is a clear evidence that Canonical does not belive in the power of Free
Software since it is not using the free software business model.

[Bug 141654] Screen with random glitches

2007-09-21 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

I just upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy and now I'm getting many glitches
in certain parts of my screen. After loggin in to a gnome session, the
tomboy icon, the revelation icon and the 'minimize all' are blurred and
scrambled. I can this kind of glitch in any part of the screen, like in
a TEXTAREA inside firefox, like the one I'm typing right now.

Beyond that, I'm getting a very low performance screen output. Moving
windows are choppy, minimizing and maximizing windows are pretty slow,
in a abnormal way compared to Feisty. I'm using fglrx in xorg.conf.

Not at all... the black screen is gone, but the patch applied to the

right-click in the terminal, before the menu appearance, there is a ugly
glitch with mixed colours. Quite disturbing.

[Bug 104672] My USB mp3player is always automounted withou writing permission

2007-04-09 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dbus

I used to just plug in my mp3player in the USB port and got it
automounted in Gnome or XFCE. But since I upgraded to Feisty, for
testing purposes, the device is automounted as usual but I cannot
write/change data on it. In order tu put files or delete, I have to do
it with sudo power. Since I never had to configure /etc/fstab to handle

[Bug 93914] Tilda X crash

2007-03-19 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tilda

After installing Tilda and attemped to change some default configs, I'm
not able to start tilda again. Thru terminal I get this error:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/delme$ tilda --sync
The program 'tilda' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)'.
  (Details: serial 11 error_code 10 request_code 33 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

to reopen Firefox, I got a segfault/core dump.

I pressed CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE to refresh Xorg and GDM opened perfectly. I
entered my login and password and the Ubuntu splash appeared, then the
system stoped. No apps opened after that, even gnome-panel. I belive
they were all getting segfault.

I rebooted my computer and now it seems to be working fine. I'm writing
this comment thru Firefox.

This seems to be a very serious problem, since it produces a strong
crash system and cannot be easily reproduced.

[Bug 63099] Re: apport is running with nice +5

I suppose that apport should be running with the lowest priority.

[Bug 59062] No futher data

2006-10-01 Thread Kurt Kraut
As I mentioned before, this unsuccessful upgrade leaded my system to a
very unstable state, with Dapper and Edgy packages mixed. So I had to
make a clean install of Edgy in order to get things working again. So I
can't say to you if this still a problem.

[Bug 62838] Cant reproduce

2006-09-29 Thread Kurt Kraut
After I rebooted AGAIN the system no crash happens. All applications are
working properly. I'm unable to reproduce the problem again.

I'll try to stress the system in other to make it crash again, to make
apport run and see if all apps stops working as happened.

Thansk for the quick replies.

[Bug 62838] All programs that I run I have a segfault (core dump)

2006-09-28 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

After the last update in the Edgy repositories, including the
2.6.17-10-generic, I cannot run most of my programs.

gedit, gnome-calculator, mplayer, gxine, amule, nibbles... all of them,
when I try to run them I got a segfault.

Probably the last upgrades in Edgy crashed some stuff. I consider this
an urgent issue.

[Bug 62560] No icons created in gnome-panel

2006-09-26 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I've just installed cohoba but no icon was created in gnome-panel, in
the 'Applications' menu. I don't know even how I could run it, since
there is a lot of .py files that came from install.

I suppose that this package should put an icon in gnome menus sou users
would run it without the effort of guessing how to create an icon and
what command to run in order to get cohoba running

[Bug 62090] A graph in 2D does not show the text shown in 3D

2006-09-23 Thread Kurt Kraut
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to make a simple graph showing some days and numbers.

When I create a simple graph of this table in 3D, the labels of each bar
appears properly.

When I create the graph with the same data, but asking for OpenOffice to
do a 2D graph, no label below the bars are shown. There is apparentely
no way of making this labels to be shown in 2D.

I've sent the same file for a friend using Dapper and asked him to
create the graph twice: in 2D and 3D. And they behave the same: they
both show a label below each bar.

I belive this misbehave in OpenOffice is a bug.
