[Bug 157447] Re: xfce4 mouse cursor themes not used in all applications
Problem is still there in xubuntu hardy heron. [Bug 113830] Re: Logitech USB headset workaround failed
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 101920 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/101920 While this bug report and bug #101920 both refer to the same HARDWARE they are entirely different problems. I am willing to test alsa 1.0.14 to see if that fixes the problem. Which is the best method of replacing alsa 1.0.13 with 1.0.14 on ubuntu fiesty i386? If everything starts working again (like in dapper) it will prove that an update package to 1.0.14 is all that's needed. -- Logitech USB headset workaround failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113830 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 113830] Re: Logitech USB headset workaround failed
Alsa is at 1.0.13 and the package name is alsa-base at version 1.0.13-3ubuntu1. I'm running feisty and this is the latest version in the repositories. This probably also effects upstream. -- Logitech USB headset workaround failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113830 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 113830] Logitech USB headset workaround failed
Public bug reported: I have a logitech USB headset 250 and it's the only audio device on my system (onboard is totally disabled in bios) . It worked perfectly in Dapper LTS. Upon installing feisty it would no longer work. The problem seems to reside in Alsa and I confirmed it by installing edgy and updating alsa (which recreated the problem). I followed the workaround from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/101920 to create an .asoundrc in my home folder. That fixed the audio but when I type alsamixer into a terminal I get: alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device and quite a few programs that use audio such as mplayer and acidrip will still fail to find the audio device and crash. The problem seems to be that alsa is pointing to a non-existent device for use as the default audio. ps: I have noticed a lot of other people having this problem but no available answer resolves it. this is my .asoundrc: pcm.!default { type plug slave.pcm combined } pcm.combined { type asym playback.pcm playback capture.pcm hw:1,0 } pcm.playback { type dmix ipc_key 1024 slave { pcm hw:1,0 period_time 0 period_size 1024 buffer_size 4096 rate 44100 } bindings { 0 0 1 1 } } ctl.dmixer { type hw card 1 }pcm.!default { type plug slave.pcm combined } pcm.combined { type asym playback.pcm playback capture.pcm hw:1,0 } pcm.playback { type dmix ipc_key 1024 slave { pcm hw:1,0 period_time 0 period_size 1024 buffer_size 4096 rate 44100 } bindings { 0 0 1 1 } } ctl.dmixer { type hw card 1 } output from amixer: amixer: Mixer attach default error: No such device however amixer -c1 returns: Simple mixer control 'Mic',0 Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined cvolume pswitch pswitch-joined cswitch cswitch-joined Playback channels: Mono Capture channels: Mono Limits: Playback 0 - 464 Capture 0 - 13 Mono: Playback 0 [0%] [-41.00dB] [on] Capture 0 [0%] [16.00dB] [on] Simple mixer control 'Speaker',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch pswitch-joined Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 44 Mono: Front Left: Playback 31 [70%] [-10.00dB] [on] Front Right: Playback 31 [70%] [-10.00dB] [on] output from cat /proc/asound/cards 1: [Headset]: USB-Audio - Logitech USB Headset Logitech Logitech USB Headset at usb-:00:0a.0-1, full speed ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Logitech USB headset workaround failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113830 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

after using: $ sudo synaptic -o APT::http::Timeout=240 I installed a few updates and run into no timeouts however I did run into a Connection was reset by peer (is the cause of this known?) requiring a retry to finish downloading. [Bug 61177] Network-manager dialup modem functionality
Public bug reported: Network-manager does not apply the selected modem speaker volume setting and ignores it's own settings when attemping to activate the modem device. [Bug 61178] network-manager endless looping on dialup
Public bug reported: After successfully activating a dialup modem on network-manager and connecting to the internet: 1)Although everything seems fine no internet related applications seem to work 2)The connection disconnects regardless of any timeout settings 3)Ubuntu reconnects and #1 and 2 are repeated with the connection having no functionality. Disabling the connection in network-manager does nothing in fact deleting the ppp settings does nothing either and only a: killall pppd will stop the crazy loop. Just to make sure there's nothing wrong with my modem I was able to connect to the internet and work fine using pppconfig. This issue is quite severe as not everyone knows about pppconfig and newcomers would likely dump this distro after the nice gui app that's supposed to setup their internet doesn't work. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- network-manager endless looping on dialup https://launchpad.net/bugs/61178 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 59739] Timeouts in synaptic
Public bug reported: Synaptic frequently times out on my modem connection due to the nature of dialup internet.
