[Bug 686625] [NEW] attended transfer does not work in 10.04

2010-12-07 Thread Lionel Porcheron
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: asterisk

This has been fixed upstream in Asterisk 1.6.2.6 (Lucid is 1.6.2.5)

Attended transfer means than you can not perform the following scenario:
A call B and want to talk to C
B call C and tell him that A want to talk to him
B hangup and transfer the call from A to C who can speak directly

This is a rather classical scenario from telephony, and I think it worth
getting a SRU in Lucid.

This has been fixed by Asterisk 1.6.2.6 upstream. The patch is based on
the difference between 1.6.2.5 and 1.6.2.6.

SRU:
IMPACT: New users or users upgrading to Lucid, can not perform an attended
transfer.
FIX: Patch derived from upstream asterisk addresses this issue.
 TEST CASE:
With the bug, you have the following scenario:
1. A calls B
2. B picks up and talks to A
3. B does attended transfer to C
4. C picks up, but B still hears ringing
5. A and B are connected again (AT timeout exceeded on console)
With the patch, you should have the expected scenario described before.

We have done quite a lot of testing after applying the patch on our
IPBX. We have covered a lot of functionalities.

[Bug 581813] [NEW] nmbd not starting in lucid (after a migration)

2010-05-17 Thread Lionel Porcheron
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

In lucid upgraded from hardy, my nmbd daemon does not start (neither with
service nmbd start or calling /etc/init.d script). It seems that the upstart
job is doing the following test to ensure netbios is enabled:
testparm -s --parameter-name='disable netbios' 2/dev/null

But, testparm now resides in samba-common-bin which is only a recommends from
samba-common, thus not installed during an upgrade.
Installing by hand samba-common-bin make nmbd correctly start with the upstart
job.

[Bug 581813] [NEW] nmbd not starting in lucid (after a migration)

2010-05-17 Thread Lionel Porcheron
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

In lucid upgraded from hardy, my nmbd daemon does not start (neither with
service nmbd start or calling /etc/init.d script). It seems that the upstart
job is doing the following test to ensure netbios is enabled:
testparm -s --parameter-name='disable netbios' 2/dev/null

But, testparm now resides in samba-common-bin which is only a recommends from
samba-common, thus not installed during an upgrade.
Installing by hand samba-common-bin make nmbd correctly start with the upstart
job.

[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP on Karmic breaks 'su' and 'sudo'

2010-04-22 Thread Lionel Porcheron
If I can try to summarize the situation on this bug:
- This is a regression from hardy. This use to work on hardy.
- We document using tls for LDAP authentication in the server guide

The most annoying point IMHO, is that someone who has root access to his
server with a LDAP account with sudo, will not be able to get root
access after upgrading. If we are not able to fix this before release
(which is highly probable considering where we are in the release
cycle), I think it worth some words in the release notes.

asterisk-chan-misdn has now been replaced by dahdi in karmic. Look at

If you install dahdi and dahdi-linux, you should get a complete solution, and

I hit this bug migrating my asterisk server from dapper to hardy this morning.
Looking at Debian bug and Leo comments, a simple rebuild is needed. Should be
possible to have an SRU (Stable Release Update) on that.
Does on of you still have access to an asterisk on hardy machine to test the
SRU?

Here is the proposed changelog (no other change):
asterisk-chan-capi (1.0.2-1build0.1) hardy-proposed; urgency=low

  * Rebuild with asterisk in hardy for asterisk ABI bump (LP: #220136)
Complete details are at Debian bug #462410.

I subscribed motu-sru to get their approval for the Stable Release

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: asterisk-chan-capi

chan-capi provided in hardy gave me the following error message when
trying to call out via ISDN:

channel.c: No path to translate from CAPI/ISDN1#02/01234567890123-0(0)
  to SIP/martin-08206fe0(4)

So chan-capi did not provide any audio codec ((0)) to translate to codec 4
for SIP. I rebuilt the package with version 1.1.1, and this works fine now.
I uploaded the updated packages to my PPA:

   deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/emme/ubuntu hardy main

  Ciao

  Martin
+
+ == SRU ==
+
+ Install asterisk-chan-capi package, comment the unload chan_capi.so, make
your phone call (with capi), and you will get a message like:
+ channel.c: No path to translate from CAPI/ISDN1#02/01234567890123-0(0) to
SIP/martin-08206fe0(4)
+ (your phone call does not succeed.)
+

2009-03-29 Thread Lionel Porcheron
With network-manager-openvpn, the process is launched with the current
user, not root powered. I'm nut sure I see the point of wanting to have
yet another user just for this.

[Bug 297423] Re: error message when CA certificate is missing

2009-03-29 Thread Lionel Porcheron
Hi Toni, thanks for taking the time to report this issue. NM does not
store certificates. Your configuration just point to files over your
disk. So yes it's logicial that removing this file break your VPN
connexion. Does not look a but to me. Therefore, the error message could
be better. I have retitled the bug report accordingly.

** Summary changed:

- Network manager fails to store CA certificates

[Bug 346698] Re: [ppa] kvm 1:84+dfsg-0ubuntu8~ppa5 broke my network

2009-03-25 Thread Lionel Porcheron
After looking at comments on Dustin blog and taking some time to test:
- backported libvirt from jaunty to hardy
- installed kvm-source and let dkms build the module

After the boot, when I connect with VNC on the local machine, if I run
dhclient, machine get an IP address, and I can reboot, it will get its address
almost forever again.
On a machine, like another comment on your blog (the virtual machine is a
jaunty, but I guess we do not care), I'm stuck before grub
On a third machine, booting kernel 2.6.24-23 failed. I have an incorrect
binary. If I boot 2.6.24-16, all run fine, and I even can reboot on 2.6.24-23!
I need to do the same dhclient magic for getting network up.
I will continue my tests. If you want me to test any option, feel free to ask.

[Bug 303112] Re: Please sync openafs 1.4.8.dfsg1-1 from unstable, for Jaunty kernel 2.6.28 support

2009-02-18 Thread Lionel Porcheron
Sync request ACKed.

** Description changed:

Another kernel release, another broken OpenAFS build. Fortunately, this
one’s easy! The upstream 1.4.8 release already works on kernel 2.6.28,
so the package just needs to be upgraded to 1.4.8.

Please sync openafs 1.4.8.dfsg1-1 from Debian unstable.
+
+ Changelog since last revision in Ubuntu jaunty:
+ openafs (1.4.8.dfsg1-1) unstable; urgency=low
+
+* New upstream release. (Closes: #511535)
+ - Support 2.6.28 kernels. (LP: #303112)
+ - Check at compile time that the kernel has keyring support rather
+than building non-functional modules. (Closes: #500850)
+ - Include vos clone man page. (LP: #324449)
+* Apply upstream CVS deltas:
+ - STABLE14-libuafs-updates-20081229: prerequisite for other deltas.
+ - STABLE14-linux-truncate-race-20090109: avoid race condition during
+truncation.
+ - STABLE14-linux-i-size-20090112: further fix for truncation race.
+ - STABLE14-linux-truncate-cleanup-20090113: further truncation fix.
+ - STABLE14-osi-probe-check-result-cope-with-enoent-20090115: fix for
+syscall probing.
+ - STABLE14-linux-2629-20090115: support for 2.6.29 kernels.
+(Closes: #513680)
+ - STABLE14-rx-idledead-only-ignore-keepalives-20081222: rx bug fix to
+not ignore other ping packets.
+ - STABLE14-rx-rdwr-writeproc-race-20081228: fix rx race condition that
+could result in reuse of freed memory.
+ - STABLE14-rx-do-not-race-current-packet-20090105: fix rx race
+condition.
+* Use make libafs_tree to generate the tree for the kernel module
+ compile rather than copying the entire source tree.
+* Compress the source in openafs-modules-source with bzip2 instead of
+ gzip to reduce the package size.
+* Make dynroot the default for new installations. It works much better
+ with systems that don't bring up their network until late in the boot
+ process, such as wireless laptops. (LP: #249240, #318605)
+* Mention libpam-afs-session instead of libpam-openafs-session in the
+ description of libpam-openafs-kaserver, and mention libpam-krb5 by
+ name. Thanks, Philipp Kaluza. (Closes: #501308)
+* Suggest module-assistant auto-install in README.modules and be clearer
+ that building one's own kernel is not required. Thanks, Anders
+ Kaseorg and Lutz Goehring for suggestions. (LP: #295897)
+* Allow time-daemon to satisfy the openafs-fileserver recommends in
+ addition to ntp, allowing for openntpd. (Closes: #508258)
+* General improvements to debconf configuration handling.
+ - Do not abort the config script if we have no default realm and
+dnsdomainname fails. (LP: #274886, #318132)
+ - Do not abort postinst if we can't resolve any host name for the
+cell. Just continue in that case, omitting any configuration for
+the local cell. (LP: #322054)
+ - Correctly set the default for AFS_CRYPT from the existing config.
+ - The cache size is high, not critical, since we have a default.
+ - Don't create the client ThisCell if no local cell was specified.
+ - Improve the leading comment in afs.conf.client. Users can edit it,
+but any changes other than the setting values will be lost.
+ - Remove the openafs-fileserver/bosconfig_moved template, which would
+only be shown on upgrades from pre-1.2.0 versions.
+ - Standardize coding style and always quote strings.
+* Update to debhelper compatibility level V7.
+ - Use dh where possible in debian/rules.
+ - Use dh_lintian to install Lintian overrides.
+ - Eliminate the configure target and do all the work in build.
+ - Do more in the install target and less in binary, matching the
+default command stacks in dh.
+ - Use a debian/clean configuration file to let dh clean do more of the
+work rather than using rm commands in debian/rules.
+* Abort the config script rather than exiting successfully if the
+ debconf shell module is not available. The config script should never
+ be run in the absence of debconf, so if this fails, something deeper
+ is wrong and we shouldn't blindly continue.
+* Add ${misc:Depends} to all dependencies.
+* Add explanations for the Lintian overrides.
+* Use set -e instead of #!/bin/sh -e in maintainer scripts.
+* Remove server documentation from openafs-modules-source.
+* Translation updates:
+ - Spanish, thanks Francisco Javier Cuadrado. (Closes: #514452)

[Bug 179705] Re: images are not included in the package in gutsy and hardy

2009-01-29 Thread Lionel Porcheron
Looks a good idea to include the fix in hardy, as I suspect that the
majority of mail servers are using hardy.

** Summary changed:

- [gutsy] images are not included in the package
+ images are not included in the package in gutsy and hardy

** Changed in: avelsieve (Ubuntu Hardy)

[Bug 179705] Re: images are not included in the package in gutsy and hardy

2009-01-29 Thread Lionel Porcheron
The minimal patch fixing the issue of missing images and locales.
I'm using this modified package for months on our mail server, and we did not
experience any regression :)

** Attachment added: debdiff for avelsieve in hardy

[Bug 223024] Re: apt-cacher / Use of uninitialized value in concatenation / line 169

2009-01-29 Thread Lionel Porcheron
Here is the fix. The patch is coming from Debian BTS.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: apt-cacher

  Hi,

  Cron send me an email:
  Subject: Cron r...@server01 test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd /
run-parts --report /etc/cron.daily )

Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
/usr/share/apt-cacher//apt-cacher-lib.pl line 169, $listpipe line 2692.
and so on. Iattached a file with the complete Message and with the output of
sudo /usr/share/apt-cacher/apt-cacher-cleanup.pl -v
  Greetings

  Michael
+
+ == SRU ==
+
+ During the daily cron, apt-cacher runs the apt-cacher-cleanup script. The
output of the script is some thousands of line like:
+ Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
/usr/share/apt-cacher//apt-cacher-lib.pl line 169, $listpipe line 153729.
+
+ The goal of the SRU is to fix the erroneous output for this script to
+ prevent sysadmin mailbox filling with those useless messages ;-). The
+ patch have been reviewed by upstream (the Debian maintainer), but not
+ included in Debian as 1.5 series are no more in Debian. Nevertheless, as
+ lot of servers are running our LTS, I think it worth fixing this here.
+
+ TEST CASE:
+ * install apt-acher
+ * have some packages entering the cache
+ * run by hand /usr/share/apt-cacher/apt-cacher-cleanup.pl
+ * see the output containing the lines given above
+ * with the proposed package, those errors are not shown anymore when running
the script by hand.

[Bug 179705] Re: images are not included in the package in gutsy and hardy

2009-01-29 Thread Lionel Porcheron
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: avelsieve

  This package has an empty
  /usr/share/squirrelmail/plugins/avelsieve/images directory, there are no
images at all while the source package has them so the rules editor only
  shows text for the links.
+
+ == SRU ==
+ When connecting to squirrelmail, filter section, the buttons return 404.
While, Firefox show alternate text, Internet Explorer show red cross, which is
a bit ugly.
+
+ TEST CASE:
+ Connect to squirrelmail and clic on filter section. With the package in
hardy, images are not present. With the proposed packages, images and locales
are included in the package, and images are shown.
