[Bug 961124]

2012-12-18 Thread Lollerke
I get tear-free video playback with disabled metacity compositing and
enabled EXAVSync in the xorg.conf file under Unity 2D and Gnome
fallback. Disabling compositing alone doesn't solve the tearing problem,
it only works with enabled EXAVSync.

Does EXAVSync help also when compositing is explicitly enabled in
metacity?

Yes.

[Bug 1033306] Re: Unity spends 15% of time in PlacesGroup::ComputeContentSize when opening dash

2012-08-15 Thread Lollerke
Nekhelesh Ramananthan: +1, dash opening is slow on an older computer,
for example on a Toshiba laptop with a Core Duo T2050 (2x1.66GHz)
processor opening the dash for the first time takes 6-8 sec and after
subsequent openings it never goes below 1 sec.

[Bug 961124] Re: Choppy video playback

2012-03-28 Thread Lollerke
I created a bug report about this on freedesktop.org:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47776. The problem is
related with the playback resolution, because if i shrink the media
player's windows size to 400x260 the all videos are running smoothly.

[Bug 961124] Re: Choppy video playback

2012-03-23 Thread Lollerke
Yes, this must be a driver issue, because I checked it today with a
laptop which has an Intel GMA X4500 and there was no stuttering. In fact
this makes the open source driver useless, because under Unity 2D theres
no stuttering, but I got video tearing instead on both machines (bug
792315) and the ATI X200M is not supported by the proprietary driver
(Catalyst), so I'm unable to watch videos properly on 12.04.

[Bug 961124] [NEW] Choppy video playback

2012-03-21 Thread Lollerke
Public bug reported:

Choppy video playback under Unity, but not Unity 2D with VLC and
Mplayer. Tried different video outputs, but none of them fixed the
problem. It's looks like the video is running at about 20 fps, but both
VLC and Mplayer doesn't show dropped frames. CPU usage is only 50%.
Using compiz under Unity 2D results in stuttering too.

Not a compiz problem, tried Fedora 16 with GNOME Shell and I've got the
same.

[Bug 792315] Re: screen tearing during video in unity 2d (but not ubuntu classic)

2012-03-06 Thread Lollerke
Same here with 12.04 beta 1 fresh install on two machines (1. Toshiba
L30-134 with Radeon Xpress 200M 2. Athlon 64 X2 4050e with Radeon
HD6450) with the open source ATI driver. Under Unity 2D 5.4 every video
tears badly on the upper half of the screen.

[Bug 780007] Re: [Natty] Stuttering video playback

2011-05-11 Thread Lollerke
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: compiz

High frame rate/bitrate videos are stuttering badly with compiz (Unity
and Ubuntu Classic with effects) in VLC, Mplayer and Totem. For example:
if I enable yadif (double framerate) deinterlacing on a DVD Video or
watching 50/60fps progressive SD materials. In full screen mode the
stuttering is getting worse (~10fps). Mplayer doesn't show AV sync
problems or dropped frames and the CPU usage is normal (see attached
screenshot). All of these videos are running smoothly under Unity 2D
and Ubuntu Classic without effects. I tried different video outputs and
different ccsm setting combinations including sync to vblank, the
unredirect fullscreen window option and manually adjusting the refresh
rate, but the problem still exists.

It looks like compiz doesn't sync properly. Under Unity and Unity 2D
glxgears shows 60fps, but in Unity the animation is stuttering even if
nothing else is running. Also while playing these videos in full screen
- glxgears drops to 45-50fps, but only under compiz. I have a desktop PC
- with an NVIDIA G210 VGA which is much faster than the ATI X200M and this
- video stuttering exists there too.
+ glxgears drops to 45-50fps, but only under compiz. I turned off
+ Animations and Fading windows in ccsm, but it didn't help. Looks like
+ the X200M can't handle compiz with reasonable performance.
+
+ (I have a desktop PC with an NVIDIA G210 VGA which is much faster than
+ the ATI X200M and this video stuttering exists there too.) -- This was
+ a VDPAU problem because when I turned off hardware acceleration the sync
+ problem gone.

2011-05-10 Thread Lollerke
Public bug reported:

Under Unity 2D and Ubuntu Classic without effects. Tried different video
outputs and different players (Mplayer, VLC, Totem) , but nothing helps
(except enabling UMS where the Overlay Video Output is available, but

[Bug 780007] [NEW] [Natty] Stuttering video playback

2011-05-09 Thread Lollerke
Public bug reported:

[Bug 625692] [NEW] [Maverick] Unbelievably slow internet

2010-08-28 Thread Lollerke
Public bug reported:

I installed yestedays daily live and todays avahi updates, but everything is
slow. When I open up a web page in any browser it says: looking up ... waiting
for... and pages are still not fully loaded after 3 mins. Installing programs
with apt-get is 10mins because it takes 4min to start downloading, after that
the downloading speed is good. I guess it's a DNS resolving problem.
If I boot into 8.04.4 everything is fine and fast, so its 100% that this is a
Maverick problem.

[Bug 625692] Re: [Maverick] Unbelievably slow internet

2010-08-28 Thread Lollerke
** Description changed:

I installed yestedays daily live and todays avahi updates, but everything is
slow. When I open up a web page in any browser it says: looking up ... waiting
for... and pages are still not fully loaded after 3 mins. Installing programs
with apt-get is 10mins because it takes 4min to start downloading, after that
the downloading speed is good. I guess it's a DNS resolving problem.
- If I boot into 8.04.4 everything is fine and fast, so its 100% that this is a
Maverick problem.
- The same net connection is working perfect with Realtek 8193too wired
connection, so it looks like this is an ath5k issue.
+ The same net connection is working perfect with the Realtek 8193too network
card, so it looks like this is an ath5k issue.

[Bug 590030] Re: [Lucid] Wireless network often ruined after resume or normal boot

2010-06-07 Thread Lollerke
How do I insert the nvidia kernel module into the new kernel? (I
installed the nvidia driver from the hardware drivers application).
Resume fails with the generic driver,so I cannot test this bug.

Why do you use radeon.modeset=1? It's the default option,so you don't
need to write it to the boot options. Try radeon.modeset=0 if you have

[Bug 566044] [NEW] Software Center is slow (uses 100% CPU when I scroll up or down in categories)

2010-04-18 Thread Lollerke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

When I go into any category and scroll down I it's not fluid (scrolling
up and down stutters badly). If I scroll down a lot with the mouse wheel
