[Bug 1302462] Re: network icon disappeared in xubuntu

2022-01-09 Thread Detemple Jean-Luc
Do the following :

sudo mousepad /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf

and change :

[ifupdown]
managed=true

The default value is false, but it seems that if when the system starts the
network is not yet ready the applet will not be displayed

if you set the value to true, it solves the problem.

PS : depending on your distribution the file may be called nm-system-
settings.conf instead of NetworkManager.conf

[Bug 1938648] [NEW] Filter option "N'importe quel" (Any) is not working anymore

2021-08-01 Thread Jean Luc Biellmann
Public bug reported:

I'm using the menu "Édition > Filtres de messages" to create filters, with the
option "Courier entrant" (Incoming emails) set. I create a filter to put
automatically spam to trash, using several rules with text keywords.
Since a few weeks, the filter option "Pour le compte" (For the account) >
"N'importe quel" (Any) is ignored for incoming emails. I can switch the option
to an existing account, the filter work for this account, but when i try to put
the option to "N'importe quel" (Any) in the list, the new option is neither
recorded, nor applied.
The correct behaviour should be to record the option, and apply it to all
accounts.

[Bug 1936754] [NEW] screen display: the last pixel column (on the right) is displayed on the left

2021-07-18 Thread Luc Pi
Public bug reported:

on the screen the first column of pixels (on the left) is weird.

Actually it appears to be the most right column that's displayed there.
The whole screen is displayed shifted on clomun to the right, and
looping so the last column right is displayed on the left border.

If you move your cursor on the right edge, it appears (one pixel wide)
on the left. Same thing if you move a window beyond the right eddge. For
example a white window, you'll see a white column on the left. (it might
be two pixels wide(?))

It does not appear on a screenshot.

It's on a Raspberry pi 400
- 20.10, had no problem. After upgrade the problem appeared.
- on a fresh 21.04 install, there's no problem either.
It appears after a package update (apt upgrade) and reboots.

'linux-firmware-raspi2' is a raw guess.

[Bug 1936751] [NEW] disabling "turn wifi off to save power" turns off wifi

2021-07-18 Thread Meunier Jean-Luc
Public bug reported:

I wanted to disable the "Wifi can be turned off to save power" in the
power settings.

But, doing this turns off the wifi!

:-/

I was doing so because my wifi is unstable, it seems to turn off on its
own.

definitely some issue with wifi turn on/off by the system.

Thanks for any help.

Note: I tried putting a 2 instead of a 3 in
/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf

Same buggy behavior, and wifi not more stable.

[Bug 1921425] Re: rabbitmq-server logrotate issue

2021-04-21 Thread Jean-Luc D.
Hello Brian,

I tested rabbitmq-server 3.8.2-0ubuntu1.2

I've forced a log rotation to happen and ended up with the expected
result:

vagrant@ubuntu-focal:~$ ls -l /var/log/rabbitmq/
total 32
drwxr-x--- 2 rabbitmq rabbitmq 4096 Apr 21 12:56 log
-rw-r- 1 rabbitmq rabbitmq 0 May 7 23:58 rab...@ubuntu-focal.log
-rw-r- 1 rabbitmq rabbitmq 16216 Apr 21 12:56 rab...@ubuntu-focal.log.1
-rw-r- 1 rabbitmq rabbitmq 0 May 7 23:58
rabbit@ubuntu-focal_upgrade.log
-rw-r- 1 rabbitmq rabbitmq66 Apr 21 12:56
rabbit@ubuntu-focal_upgrade.log.1
-rw-r- 1 rabbitmq rabbitmq61 Apr 21 12:56 startup_err
-rw-r- 1 rabbitmq rabbitmq 573 Apr 21 12:56 startup_log

Thank you.

[Bug 1875114] Re: freeipa-server package missing on Ubuntu 20.04

2021-04-13 Thread Luc Machiels
Hello team - do you have any news on this - I'm switching from CentOS to
Ubuntu LTS and have been using FreeIPA for sometime now. I've chosen
18.04 (LTS) for my ipa servers, but would like to switch to 20.04 (LTS)
in the future. Many thanks Luc

[Bug 1921425] Re: rabbitmq-server logrotate issue

2021-03-31 Thread Jean-Luc D.
Hi Utkarsh,

Great, thank you.

Currently I'm not sure if this issue also affects Bionic. That's
something I can test today or tomorrow if it can help.

It has been fixed in Debian per https://salsa.debian.org/openstack-team
/third-party/rabbitmq-
server/-/commit/20641fde278ad4d8bf7451e3c396f8ae976ff2f0 -- Thank you,
Thomas.

[Bug 1921425] Re: rabbitmq-server logrotate issue (focal)

2021-03-26 Thread Jean-Luc D.
Hi Utkarsh,

>From what I've seen, after a few weeks running, it becomes a mess (some
logs are not compressed, duplicate filenames like .log.2 and .log.2.gz).

Depending on the disk space available, it can became an issue and it
might be critical in production environments.

Since Focal is a LTS version, I'd expect to get it fixed.

That's said I can still report it to Debian.

Thank you

[Bug 1921425] [NEW] rabbitmq-server logrotate issue (focal)

2021-03-25 Thread Jean-Luc D.
Public bug reported:

Tested with rabbitmq-server 3.8.2-0ubuntu1.1 (focal)

The postrotate script (`/etc/init.d/rabbitmq-server rotate-logs`) also invokes
a log rotation, which conflicts with logrotate itself.
It was working as expected on Xenial, but it became a problem on Focal and
RabbitMQ 3.8 (see the tests below).

Hence, these lines should be removed from the logrotate config:

sharedscripts
postrotate
/etc/init.d/rabbitmq-server rotate-logs > /dev/null
endscript

It seems the daemon detects itself the log rotation, no postrotate
command needed.

Tested with Vagrant (VirtualBox) and a fresh install on each run.

Clock syncing needs to be disabled with:

v.customize ["setextradata", :id,
"VBoxInternal/Devices/VMMDev/0/Config/GetHostTimeDisabled", "1"]

Test #1, current config (not expected, double log rotation)

vagrant@ubuntu-focal:~$ cat /etc/logrotate.d/rabbitmq-server
/var/log/rabbitmq/*.log {
weekly
missingok
rotate 20
compress
delaycompress

[Bug 1903631] [NEW] update midish package to version 1.2.2

2020-11-09 Thread Luc Tanguay
Public bug reported:

Package in Ubuntu 20.04 is version 1.0.4. It crashes when using xpc with
patch number greater than 127. I'm using midish to send MIDI events to
Yamaha DD-65 electronic drum kit.

I downloaded version 1.2.2 source code, compiled it and this version
works flawlessly.

my new zenbook UX533FD-A9030T. It happens every 10-40 minutes, randomly!

This is my info : 5.3.0-28-generic #30~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 17
06:14:09 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Any solution for that ?
THANKS FOR THE HELP

Ubuntu 18.04, still the same.
It looks like Germany won the war after all, at least for people living in

Sorry for multi posting, didn't saw the 4.15.0.9 kernel before... :)
TG3 still crash, but not too early... I made several video on full HD + several
speed test before losing connection; (FTTH here, my download speed is about 290
Mbps)

[Bug 1597723] Re: Dokuwiki needs php7.0-xml as dependency

2018-02-20 Thread Luc
I would figure out how to do a pull request or something, but adding a
dependency is so simple... come on, can someone with the right
permissions just take 5 seconds and add the dependency please? It's even
in the Dokuwiki installation FAQ that this package needs to be
installed.

[Bug 1725132] [NEW] igal2 package not latest version

2017-10-20 Thread Luc Oers
Public bug reported:

I have the package igal2 installed on my Xubuntu 16.04. When executing
igal2, it fails. The reason looks to be that defined(@array) is
deprecated in the actual version of perl.

The version of igal2 now available in Synaptics is 2.1-2 but it looks
like in igal2 version 2.2, the problem is solved.

Thu, June 2, 2016: Wolfgang Trexler
* Version 2.2 - minor changes
* removed define(@array) as this is deprecated in newer perl versions
* Added better explanations if ImageMagick or GraphicsMagick files can
not be found

Is it possible to make igal2 version 2.2 available via Synaptics ?

Many thanks.

No. Absolutely, NO. Really.
You close this report because it's 2 year old and the package has been updated
multiple times since, and nobody cares (anymore). I'm sorry that I took time to
report this issue. In the future, I won't anymore.

[Bug 1704628] Re: CUPS keeps crashing 17.04

2017-07-19 Thread Luc D.
The crash pop-ups relate to both cupsd and cups-browsed with same
"crashed with SIGSEGV in__strcasecmp_l_avx()" explanation. However, this
is not systematic: yesterday I got both cupsd and cups-browsed crash
reports immediately after start-up, today no crash report yet, even
after more than 30 mins of activity. Few more hints:

[Bug 1704628] Re: CUPS keeps crashing 17.04

2017-07-18 Thread Luc D.
I used the command line ubuntu-bug cups. I confirm I get the systematic
internal error pop-up at start-up and I have just submitted again a
report "cups-browsed crashed with SIGSEGV in__strcasecmp_l_avx()" but it
does not help much... . Please let me know how I can get you the "stack
trace", I am not familiar with bug reporting.

Thanks.

[Bug 1447664] Re: 14e4:1687 broadcom tg3 network driver disconnects under high load

2017-07-12 Thread luc
hi guys,
Not a fix but it did the trick: add to your grub iommu=soft.
You will have a fully working ethernet connection...without reduce the speed.
Mine look like this = GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="iommu=soft"
After you have to update grub, like you know.
Why?
Because of this lines with DMESG after i updated my bios (BIOS L06 v02.28

No. Really.
You close this report because it's 2 year old and the package has been updated
multiple times since, and nobody cares (anymore). I'm sorry that I took time to
report this issue. In the future, I won't anymore.

[Bug 1688062] [NEW] iwlwifi regression

2017-05-03 Thread Luc Abric
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Since I updated from Ubuntu 16.04 running kernel 4.8 (-generic-edge or
something similar) to 17.04 running 4.10.0-20-generic I get a stack-trace every
time I launch hostapd.
This issue did not exist prior to the upgrade and is 100% reproductible.

My WiFi chipset is a Intel Corporation Wireless 7260 (rev bb), and I am
using a very simple configuration for hostapd.

The access point does work even after the stack-trace appears but it becomes
unstable after a day or two, dropping clients and sometimes freezing the system
entirely.
When it doesn't freeze the system I am usually able to get the access point to
work again by rmmod'ing iwlwifi and iwlmvm then re-inserting them and
restarting hostapd. Every restart produces the same stack-trace.
The bug is similar to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1441462.

Let me know if you would like me to attach some dmesg logs or any other kind of
evidence.
I can also perform additional testing if required.

[Bug 1451398] Re: too few information on Authentication Dialog

2016-12-04 Thread Luc Pi
My bank uses double identification (website + mobile app). When the
mobile app asks for a pin to confirm a payment, it displays the payment
information. So I know that the confirmation request comes from the
payment I just initiated, and that it's not a random window that pops up
from nowhere.

I think the Authentication Dialog should work the same way, displaying
information from the originating application, something like:

The application "foo bar" is requesting authentication for
"doing this and that".

For example:
==
 Authentication request

The application "Software Update" is requesting authentication for
 "installing gnome-maps, gnome-photos, gnome-foo, gnome-bar"

 Please enter...

 Password: [_]
==

If the explanation string starts to be long,
there could be a summary string,
and a longuer one in a collapsable container (or alike)

For example:
==
 Authentication request

The application "Software Update" is requesting authentication for
 "installing gnome-maps, gnome-photos, gnome-foo, gnome-bar" and more...
 [v ### //see more// ]

 Please enter...

 Password: [_]
==
