[Bug 168914] Re: Inkscape requires large-config support in libgc

2013-07-01 Thread Luca Bruno
This was fixed by @valavanisalex in r12155 and wiki already updated accordingly.
Both Debian and Ubuntu got newer stable/LTS with at least 7.1, so this won't be
a problem.

[Bug 1005565] Re: poppler 0.20 breaks build

2012-06-15 Thread Luca Bruno
@declara91 I still hate having 3 build mechanisms, but I'm patching
cmake and btool too right now, for the sake of completeness

@suv-lp looking at
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/poppler/poppler/commit/?id=c0affb1845c339f89ca67608cb9fd9134ff902f5
and speaking with poppler devs, those two should have been redundant
with different visibility. It's working for me, but we can re-enable if
any regression is seen.

[Bug 1005565] Re: poppler 0.20 breaks build

2012-06-14 Thread Luca Bruno
As we're using older poppler libs on various architecture (prominently
0.12 in windows devlibs), I'd suggest going for conditional building
instead.

The attached patch works both with newer and older poppler version, and it's up
for review.
If no objections received, I'm going to commit this to trunk in a couple of
days.

[Bug 168914] Re: Inkscape requires large-config support in libgc

2012-03-15 Thread Luca Bruno
Sorry for the delay, I was still updating the table.
It looks like bumping libgc would impact Debian stable plus Ubuntu 10.x and
11.04.
I'd say we'd better wait some time (eg. 2013) to update our dependency.

2011-06-21 Thread Luca Bruno
The msp430 toolchain is composed of various pieces with inter-
dependencies (msp430mcu - binutils - gdb/gcc - libc). In order to
speed up the transition, I'm filling sync-requests in the correct order
as soon as I feel confident with the package in sid. With the bigger
picture in mind, these requests may looks less annoying :)

Moreover, I was unable to determine when the sync system is run from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ArchiveAdministration#Syncs (and these packages
transitioned to testing at least ten days ago).

[Bug 617885] Re: gparted crash at start: glibmm-ERROR **

2010-10-05 Thread Luca Bruno
For example the following line of code to detect LUKS encryption:

  if ( Glib::ustring( magic1 ) == LUKS\xBA\xBE )

Yes. If I'm reading comment #12 correctly, Seth is saying that ustring
constructor is often unhappy when fed with raw-from-disk data (invalid
utf-8?). In particular, he wrote:

Also, this calls to review a lot more ustring operations on raw input
buffers, because things could blow up in more places where it is
being used on unknown data (raw input buffers).

Seth, care to comment?
My opinion is that it may be safer to do a plain memcmp, but I suspect the
issue Seth was experiencing was just due to buf_btrfs being not NUL-terminated.

[Bug 617885] Re: gparted crash at start: glibmm-ERROR **

2010-10-03 Thread Luca Bruno
Thanks Seth for drawing my attention on this.
Firstly, I was not aware of this ubuntu patching, and I would suggest to
refresh the patch with the lucab/btrfs branch, which is currently much
healthier :)
Regarding the buf/buf_btrfs issue, it's certainly my fault and it slopped
through when Cedric adopted parts of the original patch.
Regarding memcmp, it may sound safer to do so, but when writing btrfs discovery
I just adopted previous checking style; I will ask Cedric about it.

I'm now opening an upstream bug regarding both issues, in the meantime I
believe you can safely integrate your patch.

2010-10-03 Thread Luca Bruno
I think that this problem is the same as the bug #609477:

I think it too.
Are you going to replace all those ustring objects for next release cycle?

For GParted 0.7.0, we (upstream) plan to include BTRFS support, so the
patches from Seth are very timely. :-)

Curtis, as the discovery part is already in master, will you take care of
s/buf/buf_btrfs/ in master or should I commit on btrfs branch?
Regarding other comments about btrfs support, I'll follow up on gnome bugzilla.

[Bug 398870] Re: Reading Database takes too long

2010-04-05 Thread Luca Bruno
I'd like to remember you all dpkg/experimental is a lot faster now...
from about 14sec to 3sec here. Well using the database would be about
1sec but I wouldn't recommend to a distribution to use a wrapper (just
like I don't recommend installing the library in your system, not
because it's unstable but because a bad user usage could lead to
unexpected results for the system). Patch dpkg directly instead.

[Bug 532021] Re: i need drivers for my notebook sony vaio vpceb1j1e/wi

2010-03-06 Thread Luca Bruno
Ethernet is a new Yukon card (model Optima), supported by 2.6.33 onward (could
be easy backported), driver sky2.
Xorg work with latest intel driver and 2.6.33, but goes blank screen with
2.6.32 and older (you may use vesa or fb driver in the meanwhile), I haven't
yet identified the fixing commit to backport.
Sound is still being worked on, I did get some headphone output with latest
alsa-driver git and model=generic. It will probably take some time to set
out; it's being tracked at
https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=4934.

I'm also tracking the overall status of this laptop at

reassign to appropriate kernel package for Lucid.

Oh that's weird. You're seeing languages in Italian. If your browser is

google might guess the language from your geo location.
In either ways, this could be forced when requesting languages.

[Bug 283058] Re: [RS482] does not work properly in 3D. Software fallback:ctx-RenderMode != GL_RENDER

2009-07-29 Thread Luca Bruno
This problem appears with glRenderMode (GL_SELECT), then when you draw
something that warning is shown. Makes selection of objects impossible,
therefore any opengl applications that let you pick objects in the
screen unusable.

[Bug 297467] Re: Crashes with internal error on startup on powerpc (ppc)

2009-07-13 Thread Luca Bruno
So, this bug seems to be specific to 0.46-2ubuntu2 and ppc. As I can't
see anything weird in your backtrace (which is going crazy in library
duties just after inkscape main loop initialization), I really think
there wassomething bad with that particular package. Ubuntu currently
has 0.47~pre1 packaged, can you please try that one?

[Bug 325709] Re: window doesn't maximize

2009-02-06 Thread Luca Bruno
The bug should be fixed with the upcoming release of inkscape.
The problem is that the minimum height of the window is high, and it's
impossible for it to get maximized. This is due to the large number
of drawing tools.
Actually a workaround is to detach one toolbar to make space on the left,
maximize the window, then reattach the toolbar.

[Bug 317646] Re: FreeSpeak 0.1.1 freezes in 8.10, possibly python2.5 issue

2009-01-16 Thread Luca Bruno
I said it's been packaged in Debian, so you won't find it on Ubuntu.

1. Remove the old installed freespeak
2. Do a ./configure make make install
3. killall -HUP gconfd-2
4. Wait some seconds
5. Run freespeak as non-root

Anyway, this is not the right place to discuss about. Mail me for
further information. This bug should be blocked by #303539.
