** Description changed:

  This bug is associated with launchpad's question #257206. Since the
  question did not receive any useful answer, I thought to scale up the
  issue.

  In order to be 100% sure, since I made several tests for another problem
  I have with the touchpad, I reinstalled entirely the whole system, so
  now I'm running a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04 on the mentioned
  notebook.

  The Notebook is equipped with a Qualcomm Atheros, the wifi is working fine -
at least so it appears to me.
  The bluetooth app is not able to activate the bluetooth.
  I installed blueman, and through it I could switch on the bluetooth (at least
it says it is on); however when I do a search. it cannot detect any remote
device. Moreover, although I set the device as visible, it does not show up on
other devices scanner.
  Hcitool seems to detect the local device:

  $ hcitool dev

  However it does not detect remote devices:

  $ sudo hcitool scan

[Bug 1400079] Re: Bluetooth not working on Asus X751LA

2014-12-28 Thread Luca Manunta
Dear Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch),
I followed your instructions, can you please confirm that the correct
information was submitted?

Dear Janne Heikkinen (janne-m-heikkinen),
are you suggesting me to just sit and wait till the kernel 3.14 is distributed?
(I am currently running the 3.13.0)?

Many thanks to you both for your help, and I take the opportunity to wish you
happy new year.
Luca

[Bug 1390857] Re: [Asus X751LA] Touchpad not recognised in Ubuntu 14.04

2014-11-11 Thread Luca Manunta
Following various attempts with different patches, we found out the
touchpad is ElanTech. However the bug persists.

[Bug 1390857] Re: [Asus X751LA] Touchpad not recognised in Ubuntu 14.04

2014-11-10 Thread Luca Manunta
Following the request, I updated the Bios, from the 302 to the 312
version, as proven by:

sudo dmidecode -s bios-version  sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
X751LA.312
06/27/2014

I then run apt-get update apt-get upgrade, but no new drivers were
downloaded. I opened System Tools Preferences Additional Drivers,
but again nothing was found.

The result of xinput list is unchanged:

⎡ Virtual core pointer  id=2[master pointer  (3)]
⎜   ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave  pointer  (2)]
⎜   ↳ Logitech USB Receiver id=9[slave  pointer  (2)]

(Logitech USB Receiver refers to the wireless mouse I'm using)

2014-11-10 Thread Luca Manunta
Cristopher, I followed your request and installed the upstream kernel:

$ uname -r
3.18.0-031800rc4-generic

There was no evident change whatsoever in the behaviour of the notebook:
I run sudo apt-get upgrade, but no new drivers were installed. Finally,
the result of xinput did not change:

$ sudo xinput list

⎜   ↳ Logitech USB Receiver id=9[slave  pointer  (2)]

Cristopher, I followed the instructions at the link you sent me. I
submitted the report to the maintainer in charge for input drivers, but
I would not know where to find the link to my email. Suggestions?

[Bug 1390857] [NEW] [Asus X751LA] Touchpad not recognised in Ubuntu14.04

2014-11-09 Thread Luca Manunta
Public bug reported:

I guess this is the same bug found with this new generation of touchpads in
other Asus models.
See: Bug #1314198
I filed a separate report as nobody so far reported this specific notebook
model.

The touchpad is currently working as a PS/2 mouse, however this prevents
from using synaptics/syndaemon to suspend touching while typing (and, of
course, double finger scrolling does not work). The only solution is to
toggle the PS/2 mouse off and use an external mouse.
