 https://launchpad.net/~raof/+archive/ubuntu/14-04-do-testing has a
0.95.1 package that would be good to test.

[Bug 1347366] [NEW] gnome-control-center display 'Move gnome-panel' doesn't work

2014-07-22 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

I have a setup of a laptop with two screens, one in landscape mode, one
in portrait mode. When I connect the two screens, the gnome-panel goes
to one of them (in the few days I've been running Trusty it seems more
or less random to which screen the panel goes).

I don't care much where the panel goes, but sometimes the panel is in
the landscape screen and takes only half the screen, or it is in the
portrait screen and takes more than the physical width of the screen (so
some icons are unreachable). When this happens, if I open gnome-control-
center - display, it 'thinks' that the panel is on the other screen
(where that panel length would be correct). If I move the panel on
gnome-control-center to the 'correct' screen, the panel gets the right
length. If I move it back to the other screen, the panel stays in the
same panel but goes back to the wrong 'length'.

In short, moving the gnome-panel representation on gnome-control-center
screen diagram makes gnome-panel adapt to the length of the screen you
move it to, but the actual panel does not move from the screen where it
is.

Let me know if you need any other info, thanks!

[Bug 919701] [NEW] gnome-do dies if internet connection has login page

2012-01-21 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

When using Ethernet in my university campus, you web request are
intercepted for your university login/pass before you can access to the
Internet, similar to pay pages for wifi services in many places. This
causes gnome-do to die (I assume it tries to connect somewhere and gets
an unexpected response). Which means I have to restart gnome-do every
day after I plug my computer in the university network.

This situation should not make gnome-do die, maybe start an exponential
backoff retry period until it gets whatever information it needs.

[Bug 914057] [NEW] No sounds theme missing in sound preferences

2012-01-09 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

There isn't a No sounds theme to choose as alert sound in the sound
preferences. There used to be one, and it is necessary to get rid of
system sounds.

A workaround would be to set the Alert volume to zero, but that causes
all application sounds (e.g. Skype incoming calls) to be muted, which is
not what I want.

Another workaround would be to set event-sounds setting with dconf-
editor (org-gnome-desktop-sound-event-sounds). When I do this, the
theme selection dialog is grayed out, but sounds keep playing. I was
think about filing this as a separate bug, but I am not sure which
package to file it to.

If I am missing something and there is a way to get rid of system sounds
without getting rid of specific application sounds, please let me know.

[Bug 755066] Re: heavy i/o on sandybridge systems with small memory footprints causes system hangs

2011-04-26 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Do your systems install Maverick fine?

As I said, I was able to install Natty beta 2 and transfer lots of data
(around 70GB) before it cracked. But now I am unable to reinstall Natty,
Maverick or even Windows 7 retail (unfortunately I do not have a
recovery cd). This was on a 5 hour old Thinkpad t420s. Tech support said
the did not support Linux (obviously) and that it was normal that
windows 7 cracked because it was the retail (not the OEM) version, but I
think the guy just thought I did not know what I was doing.

2011-04-23 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
I could install too, and copy a large amount of data until I got the
first failure. From then, failures were frequent and easily reproducible
(an rsync would fail in less than 5 minutes), giving me general
protection fault.

However I have been unable to reinstall from scratch again, the process
now fails at different stages of the process, both with Natty beta 2 and
with Maverick. So right now I am inclined to think my machine might be
botched. It was a brand new Thinkpad t420s.

[Bug 769252] [NEW] Kernel panic on heavy I/O on t420s (Sandy Bridge)

2011-04-22 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

Natty Beta 2 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T420s, packages up to date. While
copying data form another harddrive or via rsync, I get errors leading
sometimes to the filesystem being remounted read-only and others to
kernel panic (complete with CAPS LOCK blinking). This makes the
computer unusable and I think I risk losing data (luckily have backups).

Tested in console to make sure it was not video problem, go a lot of
kernel debug messages printed on the terminal but they do not stay in
/var/log (since by the time the error is hit the filesystem is read
only, I guess).

I will be glad to provide any further necessary information.

know there are at least 6, but I did not keep track of them) are not being
fakely updated.

[Bug 508597] [NEW] Tomboy sync to Ubuntu one not working, 0 notes updated, no error reported

2010-01-16 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

I was suffering bug #500975 (failed to synchronize) which was solved
apparently on the server side. Now when I try to synchronize,
modifications do not propagate to the server. Newly added and deleted
notes are updated to the server, but modified notes never are, even
though I can check via web that the content of the notes on the server
is completely different.

As long as I do not delete or add new notes, I can modify them and when
synchronizing I get 0 notes updated. No error report at all either via
UI or console. But the notes are obviously not updated.

Interestingly, from a second computer which did not suffer bug #500975,
everything works as expected (but I cannot get the changes from the
first computer since they do not make it to the server).

At least other two people have reported the same problem on the original
bug.

[Bug 500975] Re: Synchronization failed with the following exception: Unexpected character '' at [1:1]

2010-01-15 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
I do not get the error now, but in the computer (A) where I was getting
the error, now I always get 0 notes updated and there is no new
content transferred in any direction. I don't get the updates made in
computer B and even if I modify a note and synchronize right away from
A, I get 0 notes updated. From B it works normal and the content on
the web view is that of B.

Maybe I should file a separate bug regarding this, but adding this info
in case is related to the server-side fix of the issue.

[Bug 462216] [NEW] Bullet format on master slide discarded when file is saved (ppt file)

2009-10-27 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Steps to reproduce:

- Open a ppt file with a specific images for bullets. These are
configured in a master slide. Everything works as it should so far. Edit
the document if you wish, or you may leave it as it is.

- Save the ppt. Everything still the same.

- Close and reopen the ppt. All the slides still look the same, however
the bullet formating in the master slide is lost. Because of this, it is
impossible to make new slides look like the ones present.

I attach a ppt showing this problem. The first slide shows the original
bullet style, the second, the one I am forced to use after I save/reload
the file. Please note that even the first slide looks as it should, if
you go to bullets and numbering the settings do not even remotely
resemble what is actually being used.

Thanks.

[Bug 438536] Re: Notifications should show up closer to top right

2009-10-25 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
I agree with Martin Ling. Lower corner, lower middle or middle of the
screen would be sensitive choices for synchronous messages. Moving them
to any of these locations would prevent them from messing up with async
notifications.

[Bug 396558] Re: karmic: No sound from flash

2009-10-16 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
I had this problem and it was fixed following comment #21 (replacing
flashplugin-installer/flashplugin-nonfree by adobe-flashplugin). As many
people upgrading from Jaunty could have this problem, it would be good
to set up a transitional flashplugin-installer update that depends on
adobe-flashplugin or some other way to notify users on the upgrade that
they should use this new package.

[Bug 453536] [NEW] uvcvideo buggy (useless) with logitech quickcam for notebooks pro

2009-10-16 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

The device is the one pictured in
http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Webcams/Logitech/Logitech-QuickCam-for-
Notebooks-Pro-Webcam (looks like logitech launchs a new camera with the
same name every year).

Skype freezes just after choosing Show my video.

Cheese is a bit more resilient. I get a frozen image which is taken at
the start of the program. However if I take a picture, the obtained
image is not the one frozen on the screen but apparently, the correct
one, taken when I pressed the take picture button. After a bit more
playing however, it froze too.

Both applications were running fine with Jaunty.

Dmesg seems normal, only with:
[ 6672.220542] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device unnamed (046d:08cb)
[ 6672.267358] input: UVC Camera (046d:08cb) as
/devices/pci:00/:00:1d.7/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.0/input/input11

Nothing on /var/log/messages.

2009-10-08 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

The finger reader works and I can login swiping my finger. However if I
introduce the password (which I usually do since otherwise I will have
to introduce gnome-keyring password after login, fingerprint reader
still comes handy to unlock the screen) on the Password or swipe
finger: question, I get asked for the password again, right away. The
second time the text is only Password: This happens every time.

Occasionally it does not even works like this and gdm stays thinking
about the password seemingly for ever. I've been forced to restart gdm
to try again and be able to log in on my system.

[Bug 446438] [NEW] pop-up stack is not aligned with the top of the screen

2009-10-08 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: notification-daemon

The pop-up notifications are misplaced, instead of appearing just below
the top panel (as they did in Jaunty) they align about an inch below.
The visual effect is a bit weird and ugly. The notifications are not
either completely aligned to the right, but I do not know if this is
intended or not.

I can reliably reproduce using the display test notifications of mail-
notification settings, but the problem is not specific to this
application.

Same behavior with T60 on Karmic. And the volume setting is indeed
independent from the software mixer, as Jean-Francois notes, which is a
bit annoying.

[Bug 445832] [NEW] XF86Sleep key not working in thinkpad T60

2009-10-07 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
Public bug reported:

The fn-combination to put the comptuer to sleep does not work anymore.
It was working for Jaunty. Other fn-combinations, like lock screen, do
work. If I go to the keyboard shortcut applet to try to re-record, the
key combination, is unreliable. Sometimes XF86Sleep is recorded,
sometimes XF86WakeUp is recorded, most of the time, nothing is
recorded.

No matter what is recorded, the combination never puts the computer to
sleep (I did try many times). Using the menus I can set the computer to
sleep just fine.

[Bug 197290] Re: 2 gb max inbox

2009-06-22 Thread Luis Carlos Cobo
I am very sorry to state that the problem is not fixed in Jaunty (32
bits). I just did the test, make a a new folder and copy messages to it
until you are going to get over 2GB. Then you get the Cannot append
message to mbox file:
/home/luisca/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox.sbd/AAPrueba: File too large

Cannot believe this is still there after a year and a half.

with dpkg -i package.deb). Guess that deb has been built by the same
