[Bug 1431656] Re: openjdk7-jre dies with SIGSEGV since kernel upgrade
By now, jre is working again. Cannot reproduce it anymore... I believe reported behavior was due attempts for running JRE after "overwriting" kernal upgrade and before reboot. Some time ago kernel upgrades used to employ distinct package names (version suffix in package name), so I didn't noticed disk image for running kernel was overwritten, leading to unexpected results. So I guess this ticket should be closed. ** Changed in: openjdk-7 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431656 Title: openjdk7-jre dies with SIGSEGV since kernel upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-7/+bug/1431656/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1431656] [NEW] openjdk7-jre dies with SIGSEGV since kernel upgrade
Public bug reported: I have been running java applications without trouble in 14.04 LTS (amd64), using openjdk-7-jre (7u75-2.5.4-1~trusty1). Since I've upgraded kernel (inux-image-3.13.0-46-generic) to 3.13.0-46.79 (from trusty-updates), JRE keeps just crashing with SIGSEGV. So I'm unable to run any java application through that JRE. [Bug 1001842] Re: No Audio from HDMI After Switching Monitor Off / On
I can confirm this bug, but i do not believe it is pulseaudio related. I am experiencing the exact same problems with a new install of Ubuntu 12.04 Server Edition without pulseaudio, with standard alsa sound, lightdm and xbmc eden. I believe the problem is Kernel or AMD Drivers related. When the TV or Monitor is turned off, i get the following log entries in kernel log: HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=0 HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=0 When the TV is turned back on, no HDMI status is detected to turn the ELD_Valid=1, so no sound from HDMI. Removing and re plugging the HDMI cable results in a: HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=1 HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=1 ELD_Valid=1 And sounds begins flowing again. Logging out from the XBMC session and logging back on, results in the same events being logged: HDMI hot plug event: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=0 ELD_Valid=1 HDMI status: Codec=0 Pin=3 Presence_Detect=1 ELD_Valid=1 And sounds begins flowing again. [Bug 352384] Re: can not add vlans to a bond network device
I had a similar problem a while back. I was trying to bring the vlans up in a similar way to what you are doing, and i had the following configuration: auto vlan50 iface vlan50 inet dhcp bond-mode 802.3ad bond-miimon 100 xmit_hash_policy layer2+3 lacp_rate slow slaves all auto vlan60 iface vlan60 inet dhcp bond-mode 802.3ad bond-miimon 100 xmit_hash_policy layer2+3 lacp_rate slow slaves all That would create havoc with my network configuration, because it would try and create a bond using all interfaces including the vlans when it brought up vlan 50 and then fail when trying to bring up vlan60 because the slaves where allready bonded in vlan 50. It seems the correct way to use bonding and vlans is to: # Create the Link Aggregation without assigning it an address and defining the interfaces to enslave auto bond0 iface bond0 inet manual bond-mode 802.3ad bond-miimon 100 xmit_hash_policy layer2+3 lacp_rate slow slaves eth0 eth1 eth2 eth3 # Create vlan50 auto vlan50 iface vlan50 inet dhcp vlan_raw_device bond0 # Create vlan60 auto vlan60 iface vlan60 inet dhcp vlan_raw_device bond0 Could you please try the above configuration adapted to your needs and see if it works? -- can not add vlans to a bond network device https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352384 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 164627] lirc based applications can not get exclusive access to /dev/input interface
Public bug reported: Hi, When i upgraded to Gutsy, my remote control stopped working thru lirc (it still translates some events to the terminal and applications). Today i took the night to discover the reason. On my syslog i found this: Nov 22 10:36:21 filho kernel: [ 62.706967] input: cx88 IR (PixelView PlayTV Ultra as /class/input/input4 Nov 22 10:36:21 filho kernel: [ 62.707046] cx88[0]/0: found at :00:0b.0, rev: 5, irq: 11, latency: 32, mmio: 0xe000 ... I thought it could be a competition between lirc and x.org, so i stopped GDM, went to terminal and tried irw which worked! I came back to gnome, tried sudo irw, which haven't worked. I have tried installing lirc from feisty, and it give me the same syslog messages. Switched back. So, i have tried to boot on feisty kernell (2.6.20-16-generic) and x.org worked with lirc from gutsy! So, the problem seems to be related to the kernel. Hope this helps you guys to find a suitable explanation. OBS.: It seems that lots of changes have been made to the kernel... firstly i can't boot the new kernel (i had to update the initramfs with the ide-core and ide-generic modules) and now, lirc applications can't get exclusive access to a interface. thanks! ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- lirc based applications can not get exclusive access to /dev/input interface https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/164627 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 102698] Re: Internet is not acquired atomatically; I must click on "wire network" in the double monitor icon to activate. Edgy didn't do this; Feisty does. Why?
Now i figured out why NM it's not connecting on the wired network on begining. It seems that NM detect my static configuration as a manually configured internet conection. Now i understood. :D Somebody have some idea of what to do? Is that a way to configure NM to automatically establish a connection to my internet interface during boot time? [Bug 102698] Re: Internet is not acquired atomatically; I must click on "wire network" in the double monitor icon to activate. Edgy didn't do this; Feisty does. Why?
Hello Mark, Thank you for your interest in helping me. > So what happens when you disable the networkmanager? First time when I upgraded to the alpha release of Feisty, my networking were not working properly. I have a static configuration and a internet configurantion by dhcp and NerwortManager couldn't handle this properly. So i decided to disable it, after reading some posts here in lauchpad. I disabled using the /etc/default/NetworkManager* files When I did it, ifupdown started doind its job as it was before the upgrade. Recently, i have upgraded to the beta release and i tried NetworkManager again. Now it recognizes my static configuration and allowed me to connect to the internet thru my wired connection, by left clicking on it - what I did on my first time and worked fine. So i tried to reboot the machine to check if it memorizes my selection, but it doesn't. My NetworkManager is now unstalled by apt-get and again ifupdown is doing the job. > Is it the same way I do it, by manually clicking the double-monitor icon and > selecting "wired network." Or is it a different way? As i said, clicking on the double-monitor icon i can select the wired conection and connect to the internet as expected. But after a reboot it doesn't restore my last selection. As my computer act as a gateway, i need it connected to the internet during the boot. And i think laptop users don't want to manually select every time the wired connection if it is already connected. This issue is upseting me too i disabled the NetworkManager until know about a solution for it. I really like NetworkManager, i think it is a very promissing software, but it should handle better the network on computers like mine, that acts as a gateway for my home network. -- Internet is not acquired atomatically; I must click on "wire network" in the double monitor icon to activate.
