[Bug 1967702] [NEW] Accessibility features have been disabled, modules like speakup_soft and others are missing

2022-04-03 Thread Tiago M. C.
Public bug reported:

From very old versions of Kernel for Ubuntu until version 5.13, accessibility
features were enabled, allowing blind users to use screen readers in text mode,
such as "speakup" via "espeakup" package.
In Kernels 5.15 packages for Ubuntu 22.04 beta, such as
"linux-image-5.15.0-23-generic", accessibility features are disabled (no
justification for such occurrence was listed in the file
"changelog.Debian.gz"), with this the espeakup application doesn't work, it
depends on the missing speakup_soft module.
Missing in the file "/boot/config-5.15.0-23-generic" comparing with the file
"/boot/config-5.13.0-39-generic", the line
CONFIG_ACCESSIBILITY=y
and the following lines are also missing:
#

[Bug 1767901] [NEW] package espeakup 1:0.80-9 failed to install/upgrade: installed espeakup package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2018-04-29 Thread Tiago M. C. via ubuntu-bugs
Public bug reported:

When trying to install the "espeakup" with "sudo apt-get update && sudo
apt-get install espeakup" gives error and does not conclude. It seems
that the error is that the installer expects that the "speakup_soft"
module is already loaded and when it is not (which is very common) the
error occurs (there is no error loading the module before installation
"sudo modprobe speakup_soft && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get
install espeakup"); the installation should not crash due to the lack of
the "speakup_soft" module, it should only give an alert indicating that
it would be interesting for the user to load the "speakup_soft" module.

Yes, they are the same errors, but bug 1633654 is older than 1711800.

In a common installation with "sudo apt-get install espeakup", it gives
error and does not conclude. The error does not occur when the kernel
module "espeakup_soft" was previously loaded before installation: "sudo
modprobe speakup_soft && sudo apt-get install espeakup".

[Bug 434799] Re: X11 forwarding via SSH does not work after upgrade to karmic

2009-11-03 Thread M C
I see the same problem, in a repeatable way. I upgraded from 9.04 to
9.10. The ssh server was configured to allow X11 forwarding:

$ cat /etc/ssh/sshd_config | grep X11
X11Forwarding yes
X11UseLocalhost yes
X11DisplayOffset 10

When I connect from another machine using the PuTTY ssh client, I can
login just fine, no errors, but the DISPLAY environment variable is not
set. The auth_log shows error: Failed to allocate internet-domain X11
display socket.
