Still having the same issue up to kernel 3.13 (Trusty tahr development snapshot). Looks like this will remain an issue for some time to come. @Christopher Why do we need to resubmit all bugs we all encounter individually? The bug is a perfect match to the attached link to the bug on kernel.org which is apparently not fixed upstream yet. Flooding the system with the same bug seems pointless too me, especially since all related and possible viable comments would be wildly spread across multiple bug reports, what's else is the point of marking this bug affecting me as well? [Bug 609884] Re: Add Time slider panel for btrfs volumes
It's been a while, nobody seemed to have cared about this anymore. I for one started to take a closer look on btrfs and it's snapshot functionality is one of it's most interesting feature to me. So it wasn't long before I was searching for this particular feature to be a part of nautilus. This would be a great addition to Ubuntu and will certainly help the target user group a lot in data management. [Bug 1258231] Re: NVRM: os_schedule: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context
Hi christopher, I've bought this computer over 3 years ago and used nothing but Ubuntu on it. As far as I can remember the problems started with the Quantal release (12.10). Just random lockups, sometimes happening more frequent. I've tried clocking down my GPU (Coolbits) to the lowest possible clock, but it still happens. First I thought it was somehow temperature related, both the GPU and CPU reach 80 degrees Celsius sometimes, but after some testing it even happens when there around 50 degrees as well. I guess it does seem to be related with heavy CPU usage, this seems to trigger the situation more often explaining the fact I suspected the temperature at first. I'm still wondering if it isn't hardware malfunction, is this a probable cause for these kind of errors? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1258231 Title: NVRM: os_schedule: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1258231/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1258231] [NEW] NVRM: os_schedule: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context
Public bug reported: The machine's (Dell Precision M6500, core i7, nVidia Quadro FX 3800M) interface frequently (once an hour at least) locks up. The mouse almost always functions fine but won't allow to click anything, it does however locks up sometimes as well. Sound continues to play just fine, as do all other background tasks. Switching to TTY1 and switching back to TTY7 will mostly recover the issue by relaunching the shell. Unfortunately it also results in a black screen from time to time, leaving nothing but to relaunch the window manager loosing all opened X applications. I have this issue since Ubuntu 12.10 and have failed finding any solution for it. Have tried numerous Kernels and nVidia drivers to no avail. [Bug 986831] Re: system freezes for some seconds: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context
This is getting to a point which makes my computer unusable. It seems to happen more and more. I started working on 12:00 today and it happened to me over 17 times already! Tried jtree's solutions which unfortunately doesn't work for me. [Bug 986831] Re: system freezes for some seconds: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context
Just installed the latest beta 325.08, resulting in the same behavior, it happens to me once or twice every 20 minutes. Detaching the laptop from the dock solves it though. Very strange... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986831 Title: system freezes for some seconds: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/986831/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 986831] Re: system freezes for some seconds: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context
@Rocko: This could be the case, but it never happened to me before 12.10. I'm using a Quadro FX 3800M and tried drivers 304.*, 310.*, 313.* and 319.* in 12.10 and 13.04 and this error happens quite frequently. I did notice something that might be of interest. I'm using this laptop (Dell precision M6500) mostly in a docking station with 2 monitors attached. The other day I was working on it without the docking station (just the laptop screen) and it didn't happen at all in that session. Makes me wonder. Another footnote is flash, this seems to trigger the behavior as well.

[Bug 1132121] Re: Nvidia driver garbles screen and lets the computer freeze completely
Experience a similar issue as well, using a Quadro FX 3800M with driver 304.*, 310.* and 313.* in 12.10 and 13.04. (Dell Precision M6500 with a core i7) Very frequent random lockup's which crashes both unity and gnome-shell, switching between tty1 and tty7 sometimes resolves this issue, but complete lockup's occur as well, ruining everything you've been working on. It seems to be happening more when the GPU is under load. Example of lockup which happened watching a flash based video in gnome-shell, it resolved itself by waiting for a couple of minutes, switching to tty1 didn't work this time. The machine was completely unresponsive to input, but the sound of the video continued just fine, it did however manage to show a moving mouse cursor at times before locking up completely again. The screen was showing a frozen image of the desktop at the beginning of the issue, but changed to the start image of gnome-shell (the noise based background) after a while.
